  3. All of my big '70s Chevys are unfinished.
  4. 1/8? OMG!
  5. Mine arrived yesterday. Great issue!
  6. I've seen several examples, over the years, of nicely painted, trimmed, foiled, and detailed models with carefully detailed engines and chassis, fuel and brake lines, nicely finished wheels and tires . . . . . . . and bare, unpainted white plastic screeching out at the judges on the unfinished bottoms of interior tubs where the chassis and firewall opened around the bellhousing and transmission! Picture it. Didn't bother to paint the underside of the interior tub . . . yet, it showed!!!!!!!!! Another all-too-common fatal error is the unfinished hood underside. Beautiful model, well detailed, exquisite exterior paint and finely detailed engine compartment. But, the hood underside displays ejector pin marks, rough cuts and deep sanding scratches, patch-work primer and color coat overspray with irregular patches shaped like masking tape . . .
  7. I keep hearing refrains of Simon & Garfunkel . . . "Homeward Bound."
  8. As . . . soon . . . as . . . I . . . finish . . . laughing, . . . I . . . have . . . to . . . go . . . get . . . the . . . rest . . . of . . . the . . . (urk!) . . . milk . . . and . . . cereal . . . out . . . of . . . my . . . nose! Dang you, Greg Myers! THAT was funny, right there, I don't care who you are!
  9. Cool concept.

    Sweet!

  14. Love it! Great work, John.
  15. Fairly common practice ~ especially in those lean years ~ among the model making companies was to take on general, industrial injection-molding work from outside sources. Between model runs, they might be producing appliance parts or components for various consumer goods. If an outside job required plastic pellets of a specific color, and the model-maker ended up with a bunch of left-over pellets, it was not uncommon to see them find their way into a kit. I think that's where some of the crazy swirled multi-color kit bodies came along, too. I can just see the company awarding an employee some kind of fine-dining night out for coming up with that idea! 'Hey, boss! Here's an idea for getting rid of all those left-over pellets!'
  16. Decent. Suggestion: A little work on the taillights and some black wash on the grille will really enhance its appearance.
  17. That's gonna take a BIG potato!
  18. Jimmy Hoffa would be proud.
  19. Yepper! I knew RS's end was rapidly approaching when the small electronic components (as you noted) disappeared from the sales floor and the gadget-sellers had no idea what you were talking about when you asked for any of the items that represented RS's core business . . . I lost it one fine day when I was looking for a bulk eraser and the mall crawler fone-seller told me he had never heard of such a thing (after I had to describe to him what a bulk eraser was . . . he initially suggested I go to Target's back-to-school supplies section for a big selection of pencils and erasers). But then, he went further to knowingly assert that Radio Shack had never carried any such product! I had rolls of electrical tape and coils of solder older than that idiot was! RS . . . RIP. You lost your soul, you lost your life.
