Okay. Here's the deal.
Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has presented the Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest in Arizona (Scottsdale) for 15 years now.
I have had the honor of being Goodguys' show director for this event for the past 11 years.
We've built up the entry count from a few dozen to over 200 models.
But this event should and could be even bigger!
We've wondered why there wasn't more regional participation. The most consistent explanations we've heard from Arizona modelers is the parking situation and the cost of admission to the event in order to enter models.
Well, there's nothing we can do about the parking. It's all dictated and operated by the City of Scottsdale, who owns Westworld. It's gonna cost you $5 to get to the event no matter what.
And we've never charged an entry fee for models or pedal cars.
But still there have been modelers who were put off by the admission (gate) fee to the event.
We've always provided participants with a free day-pass to return on Sunday to pick up their entries. However, the initial gate admission fee was necessary to get into the event before models/pedal cars could be entered in the show/contest.
If the cost of admission has held you back from participation in what could be the biggest and best model car contest in Arizona, I HAVE A SOLUTION!
If you enter 10 or more models and/or pedal cars on Friday (11/16) or Saturday morning (11/17) before 10am, I will pay your way into the event! You will still get a second pass for free admission ain access to the charged by Goodguys to the event, in order to retrieve your entries. So, you can have 2 free days at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals!!! All you have to do is enter 10 or more model cars or pedal cars.
The $5 parking fee is ALL it will cost to participate in this exiting model car and pedal car show/contest. You can't even enter the Desert Scale Classic or Modelzona contests that cheaply!
Thousands of car enthusiasts view our model car show/contest display during the weekend. Where else can your builds get that much attention in one place?
All entries compete for awards for the Peoples Choice, Best of Show, and Top 12 Models, regardless of category or type of build. Several hundred spectators vote for the best models on display. Our events average more than 1200 ballots cast per event.
So, what do you think of that?
Join us next month at the 15th Annual Southwest Nationals Model Car & Pedal Car Show, presented by GoodGuys Rod & Custom Association and Revell, Inc. Friday, November 16, Saturday, November 17, and Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Come see what you've been missing.
