IH Transtar II Eagle
Pete68 replied to Scott Eriksen's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice choice I liked the 1.1 and the Model. Here’s some pics of my 1979 Transtar Eagle I owned back in 1995 it had a 430 boat anchor 2 stroke DD. Wish it had a 318 instead. Maybe you can use these pics for some reference if need. -

I guess I am Steve just burned out on 1/25 scale for awhile. The decals go on nicely and are easy to work with. -

Frame is painted. I painted it Allis Chalmers Orange and here’s a mock up. I also redone the front wheels for a more convincing look. -
It's in the post!

Looking good Steve. I like that roll up door. -
I’ve had this Cab/Hood that I shortened several years ago thought it was about time to get it built or at least start it. This will be base on one of our local Wrecker Trucks in my home town that was owned by a GMC/Oldsmobile dealer who bought it new around 1978. The truck had a 238 Detroit Engine with a fuel squeezer which made it gutless. A local Construction company bought the truck and made it a Dump Truck and got rid of the fuel squeezer. I drove the truck several times when I work there. I’ll be adding Resin Spoke wheels from AITM and the Wreck body is from a old AMT 1/32 Kit. The boom is from a First Gear truck and the rest is the old Monogram GMC General. I hope Revell will re-release this truck sometime soon.

I’ve been kicking this around for some time just wondering how many would be up to a Tow Truck/Wrecker/Service Truck Group Build? Like to have at lease 10 to start the dates I have in mind are October 2023- February 2024. Rules are any scale kit and must be unstarted or less than 10% started you can add aftermarket stuff including Resin. Donor kits and Donor parts are welcome as well. Trucks kits can’t not be any bigger than 1 ton and El Camino, Rancheros, Station Wagons, Vans and Pickups are welcome. Thanks and hope we can get this off the ground.

Thanks for the complement I really enjoyed building these guys and yes we are filling gaps I’m really liking round 2 helping out on the vintage kits now we can build with ease knowing we don’t have to break the bank or wait for years for and kit to pop up at a Model show we got it easy these days.
