  1. I's thumbin' through the want ads in the Shelby County Tribune when this classified advertisement caught my eye. It said, "Take imme-di-ate delivery on this '57 Chevrolet half-ton pickup truck. Will sell or swap for a hide-a-bed and thirty-five bucks. Call One-four-oh, ring two, and ask for Bob."

Started on a new project while I wait for paint for my GMC. I was inspired by C.W. McCall and his song “Classified.” So I figured I would build what the old truck might have looked like. I even have a Brillo box full of rusty parts. Wheels are from the AMT 57 bel air. I always envisioned the truck in the song being a burnt out orange color that had faded over time.

Like I and other's have said, he's busy. There's more people than just one that has order's in.

I understand, just excited. And I know he’s busy. I guess I was just hopeful to get mine in before the deadline. As is the case with most resin, if I see it, I try to buy it right away. I will wait until April and try again. No disrespect to him or his business ?

I was poking around on his web site yesterday and he was stating that he wasn't taking additional orders at this time as he was trying to take care of back orders. This may account for the slow response to EMails at this time.

I sent my order before the deadline, unfortunately.

  4. I don’t even read these threads too often anymore, they make me sad. I appreciate all of you that are optimistic and or just glad (like me) that we have kits issued again. I dislike whenever a video is posted and someone feels the need to complain how they won’t be buying anything. Who cares. I like the videos. I’m excited for each kit even if I don’t buy it.

I have this kit about 3/4 done. I ditched the bed and have a service truck bed on mine. This required cutting the frame to make it longer and trimming off a bunch of stuff.

As for the front spring, they are bad, but not as bad as you think. The factory springs on all square body trucks (Front 4x4) were reverse arc and only 2 leaves. I have a 90 Suburban and they look just like the kit springs.

Interesting! I’ve only been around GMT400 trucks so haven’t seen too many straight axle trucks. Thanks for the info! Feel free to post photos of yours.
