  1. From what I can tell most series right around 1970. NASCAR guys (I believe) often had this decal. The particular series I am building is NORRA/SCORE though, but don't try to look it up under that series. Thanks in advance, john
  2. Gang, I am making up a decal set for a racer I am building and have become stuck on one "sticker". The sticker is for a sponsor, Premier with some tiny words underneath. I, for the life of me, can't find a close up photo of the real decal, a sponsor sheet that lists Premier, or anything about that brand. HELP! What does it say? Thanks again, John
  3. Thanks everyone for the help. Many great leads. Great idea Ed. I need to do some Christmas shopping, need to stop in there anyway. Sadly Mike, my spare parts bin is very thin. Seriously, I am pretty new to modeling (again) and have not built up a stash yet. Been trolling ebay wanting to buy someone's old parts. Hopefully soon just the right box will catch my eye and wallet. Bob, Sounds easy. Got any photos you can post for the rectangular/Evergreen project? John
  4. Hey all, I am working on a project that has many radiators/coolers (water, power steering, auto tranny, diff, oil, etc.). Rather than spend months searching for the parts I am wondering if making them is an option. All are basically boxes of fins with vertical sides that could be made of thick styrene. But what to use for the "fins"? Has anyone run across something that looks like scale radiator fins? Here is an example of what I am looking to build: Thanks all for the brainstorm ideas. John

Great collection. Love the J truck. Could we see more pix of that one? John
  6. Hey, Hearse, great job so far. Tell me about the bed. The wood looks great. Is it simple paint washes or something else. John
  7. Actually, I visit at least once every day, even on my phone now. But no, don't post much any more... the current build is really kicking my tooshy. I will probably start posting a few WIP pix in the next few weeks... but here is an idea: Back to the glue...I knew this should be the first place to post a question. I am guessing but there has to be at least 10 great ideas. And some (like CA and Tacky Glue) I actually have in the house. As always, can't thank you guys enough. John
  8. Gang, I am working on a model that I need to mock it up but don't want to glue just yet. I have been using molding clay to hold the body panels together but it is just not strong enough. Is there a glue out there that is not permanent? John
  9. Yes, lets keep our fingers crossed... I mean they have all the hard work done already (yea right). We all know there is a demand. Someone is always asking about them. I will be hitting Tamyia's site site and begging. John
  10. James, sadly no kits were made of the Early Bronco... a 78 and an 80/81 only. There is somebody out of Nashville putting out a pair of resin bodies (the same as A/FX): the stock body and an elongated "Bronco Buster" body. He sells on eBay pretty often and go for around $25-45. The body was/is actually cast from a 1/24 toy from back in the late 60's. GayToys made it I believe. There were rumors about a year ago that Tamyia was going to make an EB kit as they were at a big Ford event photographing/measuring a Bronco there. Sadly they came out with the EB RC body instead John
  11. Limo, I have used both solid rod with heat and tubing with "rod" and prefer the latter. I always seem to overdo the heating and ruin it. For the tubing I use heavy floral wire, very cheap and I just happened to have some in the garage. I like the fact that the wire holds the tube in the shape without the risk during heating. Another great thing about tube/wire is if you get a bend in the wrong location, you can just rebend it in the right spot. John
  12. Excellent job! I have a Spitfire so the scene looks pretty familiar. Where in the world did you find a Stag model? John
  13. Beautiful job... my favorite color scheme: grey with red leather. John
  14. Beautiful job... my favorite color scheme: grey with red leather. John
  15. Great color! (both the model are real thing). John
  16. Ditto! Awesome job! John
  17. Agreed, looks really good. Was it difficult to paint (does paint stick to it)? John
  18. Saw the "Z" on the hubcaps and knew who built it but not what it is. I wonder if it would look less sl$%^& with wheels rather than those awful Olds Toronado-looking hubcaps. John
  19. Thanks all for your kind words... yes, striving for accuracy which makes it a VERY difficult build... have almost given up on many times. Thankfully have little sparks of excitement between the hours of frustration to keep it going. Plastic Freak, I am not exactly sure why they channelled it but knowing some history of the trucks before it, I will guess that they did it to cut down on weight. The only reason it was built in the first place was that Parnelli Jones was so hard on the modified stock Broncos that they build this one from scratch with as much strength, light weight and race car-like feel as possible. That is the main reason that this truck was so important in history, it was the first ground-up built vehicle for desert racing (rather than just taking a factory truck and modifying the heck out of it). If you are intersted in Parnelli Jones' desert racing history, here is a cool video with lots of info about Oly. John
  20. Thought I would update my progress.... The cage is 99% done: I am purposefully leaving off the bars across the top of the doors and in the center of the roof so that I can get the interior in. And now working on the interior. It too is pretty close to being done. Everything should look much better after a few coats of primer and sanding. Thanks for watching. John
  21. Great job Mercman! I just love automotive dioramas! John
  22. Yes, great job! The weathering really makes it... not too much and done just right. The tires are perfect! John
  23. Great tutorial! Looks very realistic. I will be bookmarking this for the next F1 build. Thanks. John
  24. Tamiya was at Fab Fords last year measuring and photographing the heck out an Early Bronco. FINALLY!!! But sadly an RC came out this summer... darn! But with all the measurements they have surely they could build the Bronco in 1:24. Granted, the RC body is awesome. So Tamiya or even Revell, PLEASE make an Early Bronco. Keep it under $25 and I will buy out every store within a 100 mile radius. John
  25. Photos please! john
