  1. Looks great. Im building the same one right now its posted on the dioramas page, under first try.
  2. Was it deleted because the Pix were from the future? I think you need to check the date on your camera.
  3. I gotta know wher to get one of these. Ive been looking for one since I saw this post about 40 minutes ago. Any one know where I can get it? Or does MrObsessive want to sell me the one that he's had sitting for 20 years?

    First try

The rocks were found outside my apartment while walking the dog. I havent done to much with the Jeep that is going to be climbing the hill, I got excited about my first "landscape" (BTW, any suggestions are greatly appreciated). I think I need some trees. More car pix to come soon.

    First try

Never used photobucket before, but that'll do the job. Hope I did it right. Ive just taken a few more progress shots, but they're still on my camera.

    First try

I just started working on this so pix will be coming soon. I just have to figure out how to shrink them a little so that I can actually upload them, they are way to big now. Thanks for the tips though, I really appreciate everyones help and am looking forward to hearing more.
  7. I say model. Something about the windsheild, not sure what.
  8. Looks great! Way out of my skill range so far. As suck, Im always looking for always looking for tips, are those antennas mad from push pins? If so, great idea.

    First try

Im about to make my first try at building a diorama. I was hoping to get some tips from some of you who are more experienced than myself. I am planning to do a '77 Jeep CJ7 rock climbing/off roading. A couple of the things Id like to know are 1. How do I make the tires look like some of the air has been let out for traction? 2. So far all of my models were built to look as close to showroom quality as possible. How do I make dents? 3 How about rips in the seat fabric? I think I can handle the Mud, rust and weathering with a little practice, but I may be back to ask about that too. I would also like to know about making a little bit of a hill. I was thinking of using that expanding spray foam (comes in a can) and carving it out, any other suggestions?
  10. Love it. Im a huge VW fan, and also hate the New Beetle. Yours looks excellent. Im gonna post some pix of the 66 Beetle I just finished right when Im done here. Again great job, wish I could do that.
  11. So Im looking to to a headliner in my most recent model, a 1966 VW beattle 1300. Ive seen tips on here about ding a convertible top, with things like tissues. Could this also apply to headliners? How do I do it? What Im most thinking about is the seams, and how i get it to stick to the roof without looking like its glued up or falling down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Good suggestions. Im gonna head down the the LHS and check a couple out. Thanks.
  13. How do you guys trim the flash and the little peices of the tree off of chrome parts without screwing up the parts? Or do you just put something on it after. Im working on a '66 Beetle, and it has alot of chrome body parts.
  14. I havent posted any pictures of my stuff yet, never thought it was all that great. But, thanks to all the advice everyone has given me on the forum, I finally feel like I have some good ones. Hope you guys enjoy.
  15. Well. Ive got a good respirator for work and I never use it there. Guess the girlfreind and the dog will just have to suffer. Just kiidng. I live in an apartment, and do most of my painting on the deck. Im working on building a small, portable paintbooth. Ive checked the LHS. They have a line of paints (cant remeber what brand) that says they are "great for airbushing", of handbrushing, and a box of testor airbrush paints (still the same small jars and regular paints). I figure at least to begin with Ill be using alot of paint for practice, so Im looking for something cheap to do a "not a big deal" model with.
  16. I just got my very first set of airbrushes. I also got a set of free paints with them, but they are for t-shirts and stuff. Does anyone know where I can get a good set of airbrush paints for modeling? My other question is, When I use a regular paint(lets say model master for example), should one bottle be enough to do the body color, is that more than I need...not enough? I have no idea how I should be doing this, and I really dont want to screw up my brand new airbrushes.
  17. I had to add a reply to this subject. I do auto electronics and custom fabrication for a living (mostly high end, "show off" audio systems). Ive used techniques I found on here at work on real cars, but this is the first time I have ever seen a technique (twisting wires with a drill) that I use on real cars...every day...used for model cars. I feel stupid for not thinking of it myself.
  18. Thats a great idea. Im gonna build one of those. One question. How do you hold the parts onto the "hanger"?
  19. Since you guys are on the topic of future. Ill put this question on here. I recently started using future on my models, with excelent results. Until my last model. I got my first set of airbrushes recently and decided to spray the future on insteadof brushing...Im still experimenting with the airbrushes. Well, the body looks great, but the clear window parts got really cloudy. So, my question is...what did I do wrong, and how do I fix it without (hopefully) disassembling the body or ruining the clear parts. Also, whats this about polishing the future? What do I use?
  20. Well, that looks good. Youve just left me with one more question. Where can I find it? I looked in three stores today with no luck. I did find pledge (i think) with "future power", but I dont think I want my models smelling pine fresh.
  21. A freind of mine told me to use Future floor polish for a nice shine on my cars. He's never tried it though. Ive also read about it in a few topics on the forum. So how do it use it? Just brush it on and leave it or do I have to buff it out. If I use it in an airbrush (my first airbrush is in the mail, very excited), do I have to thin it out? He said it supposedly makes clear parts look more like glass, is this true? I wanna know all about this. Ive tried everthing to get a good shine, and Im just never very happy.
  22. Ive used brake fluid in the past. put it in a container (one you dont intend to eat from) and leave the model in it for a few days. The paint should wipe off pretty well.
  23. Does anybody know if there are any detail up parts for the Tamiya Jaguar XJ220? If looked around online, but I can find any.
  24. Wow. Thats alot of information. I didnt think about all the extra parts. Im htinking gravity feed will be a little messy. And the dual action sounds much better, but harder to use. Iwas hoping also to get a small compressor, no canned air. Is there a set that come with all the parts. Or would I be better off buying them all seperately.
  25. Sorry Im so late to thank you all for your help. I forgot to change my setting so that Id know about responses.Thats alot more than I expected. I think Im going to try the vasaline idea first, I seem to remeber my father saying somithing about that a long time ago. I may also try the plastic bottles. And dont worry, I ALWAYS have my pliers nearby (I like the nut cracker Idea too though, Im gonna try that too).
