Well, Ive taken all of your advice and think Ive done well. I have used many, many small boxes and packed each car separately wrapped carefully and well cushioned and then placed all of those into a large wooden chest. I will be moving this Sunday, wish me luck. It might me a week or so before I see how it all turned out though.

That's a great suggestion and I'd love to do it. But financially, it's just not an option. Any other suggetstions will be greatly apprecited as well.

I will be moving to a new house in a couple of weeks. I've moved some of my models before but something always ends up getting broken. I don't have my cars on individual cases they are all in larger display cases. So what are your suggestions for moving all of these cars.

How do you guys cut the suspension, to drop the car a few "inches". I wanted to do it on my current build, but I had no idea where to even start.
-
I'm gonna say Model, everything's to clean. But then again, I've never got one of these right.

Where's a good place online to get wheels and tires?

Thanks for the tips. I think Im gonna try cutting out the squares and sticking them on rather than cutting them out on the body. And also, I dont think Ill be building the body kit, unless you guys have some tips for that too. I would like to try it.

Well. the gloss black worked. Thanks to everyone for all the help. I have another question though. Has anyone ever tried using this over other colors, and if so, what were the results?

I'm always impressed with all the help I get whenever I post a question on here. So here's another on for you guys. Im doing a VW Golf GTI and this is how Id like to paint it. My questions are about masking off the lines for the "checker board" pattern. Whenever I cut the lines out of the masking for something like this I get "scoring" lines (more or less) in the paint, and no matter what I do they always show up through the finish. Is there mabey a special tape I should be using, that wont require me to cut so hard? Cant wait to see you answers. And feel free to throw in any other tips that you all see fit. Ive only been on this forum about a year, and my because you guys, my skills have already become way better than I could have ever imagined.

Like I said All tips are greatly appreciated. My next build is a be golf gti,and after that is the tamiya enzo ferrari, that I want to be perfect, cause I've been waiting so long to build it. I'm sir I'll be asking for slot more tips for that one, but there are some things I'd like to get down before I start it. Eve. Though there isn't much, I know I'll need it. Thanks to all for the tips. I'll post more pics when I fix my FUBAR, to let you know how it turned out.

Well, I could have sworn I read somewhere on this forum that I should use flat black, but I guess I was mistaken. Thank you all for the great tips. Now, whats the best way to get all that paint off and start over? These are all really small parts aside from the bumpers.

I just tried re-chroming for the first time, I used this, and was very disappointed. Am I doing something wrong? I sprayed a base coat of flat black, I could have sworn I read that on here somewhere, even though the directions on the bottle said gloss black. Granted I haven't had to much practice with my air brush, but overall it came out well, except that this is not chrome. This is what I got. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I like the color and the finish, but that is not a chrome bumper.

I was just talking to a friend who has just discovered the power of future. He loves it, but he usually builds military style models. He is trying to fininsh up a batmobile model that he has been working on.....a long, long time. I remember seing it about 13 years ago or so. He was wondering about using future for a less glossy shine, especially on tires. We were thinking about cutting it with rubbing alcohol. Would that do the job? He's looking for a slightly more than semi-gloss finish. any suggestions?

How do I get a nice chrome finish on the mirror housings and still get what appears to be a reflective surface on the mirror itself? I dont do to much chrome in general, but Ive been getting into older cars lately and this is going to bug me big time.

Did you make the Kicker amps, or did you buy them somewhere?

I am thinking about building my first scratch built model, ground up. My boss has a horse draw funeral car that he uses for his haunted house. Im going to get pix and measurments and hope to build my own. Im looking for any tips that you guys have to offer. I really need to know what you might suggest for those really big windows and what materials to use, styrene, balsa wood, Ect, anything. I've never started from scratch before.

I hate this kinda stuff

I skimmed over most of the posts on this thread once I saw 10" subs mentioned. I love that your doin' Kicker (Im in an installer, Kicker F***ing beats all), but why tens? You must have room for at least one 15" L7. You could blow the roof off of that car (not literally of course, I mean why would you want to, right?). -
That looks great! I think my dad had one of those. What do you use for the prop rod and the antenna? Does the prop rod stow under the hood, or do you take it out?
-
Well thats gotta be the best way to do leather. Im bookmarking that right now. Im doing that on my next build.
-
I think this time I'm not going to bother. I put in the seats and it looks pretty good the way it is. Great tips for future builds though. Thanks to everyone

Im gonna have to go with Simon on this one. I make alot of my kits just the way I want them, cause I like it. You'll see when I get a little further in my build. If it looks good it is good. I havent built a model yet that was "just the way it should be", probably never will. My life is cars, I do custom auto electronics and fabrication, so it all about being different for me. I love the way this car looks (the real one too), and Ive seen so many differences on the same year make and model of this one, that I think it will work out well to put them all together. Either way its great to see all the discussion about the original. Im working on starting a custom car shop with my bro and some freinds, and I hope we can find employee's with an eye like you guys have.

Its the Revell kit. How did you guys know that?

I just checked out a Honda Fit in "Under Glass" and they were talking about window tint. I tried it once, and it was horrible. What is the best way to tint windows?

I havent posted a build in a while, so I figured I would with this one since Im pretty happy with it. Thanks to all of the support from members on the forum, I was able to take my time and get a fairly nice paint job...so far, even for a rattle can (not so great with my airbrush yet). And you all have opened my eyes to the everyday objects being used in modeling as well.
