  1. Ive been using this for 6 or 8 years now. It has fiberglass threads that come out when you rotate the end. It gets into alot of really tight places. It also can leave some particles on you're hands that get really annoying, so you have to make sure you wash your hands after using it. My Grandmother got it for me, unfortunately I could never remember to ask her where she got it and she recently passed. So, if anyone knows, I would really appreciate finding out where to get it. I'm sure there isnt much sanding left in there.
  2. Fianlly got my camera batteries charged, and got my pix onto the computer. These are the oldest 2 I still have. I built them about 15 or 16 years ago. And yes, I know, they need to be dusted.
  3. I know I started this thread and I havent even posted my pics yet. I promise tomorrow I will. I just found the charger for my camera batteries. It was a little more elusive than I thought it would be. I have to say though, that I have been really excited to see all of your early builds. This is where it all started and it is great to see everyone sharing.
  4. Ive been building models for some 20+ years now. I still remember my first one...I think. A space shuttle that my grampa bought me helped me build. I still have a couple from about 15 years or so ago, once my camera batteries are charged back up Ill post my pics. But I got me thinking, that Id like to see some of all of your earlier builds, if you have em. Ill be posting soon, probably tomorrow night. Hope to see yours too.
  5. I think its about time to sust bite the bullet and drop the $100+ on the Tamiya Ferrari Enzo and Mecedes McLaren. And then of course there is the $100(give or take a little) on all the photo-etch parts for both. Id cant wait to build these 2. Gotta get em before they're gone.
  6. Ive done the 48 hour build. But I wouldnt posts sics of them. I think I just do it to get myself fired up for a build Im excited to do. They dont even go in the displays, Im not even sure where they are.
  7. OK, sounds good, where do I get this article?
  8. I like the exacto blade idea. I would need to smooth the edges inward though. Any ideas on that? Im not sure the sanding stick will do the job and Im not sure the dremmel will work in this application. I was thinking about a "fabric" add on, but I cant think of anything that will look right. since it appears to have a padding underneath.
  9. Im working on a Ferrari 250 GTO. I Have alot of pictures of the car and specifically the interior. There is a stitched leather cover on the center tunnel and in the door panels that I would like to duplicate in 1/24 scale, but I cant figure out a way to do it. Here is a 1:1 picture of what I want. Anyone got any ideas?
  10. Im more interested in what you use to make them. Computer programs, decal materials, ect. I made one for a porsche I built for my dad, the plate he's had for 30+ years, and I painted it. It brought down the whole build.
  11. How do you make custom license plates?
  12. How'd you do the red glass?
  13. I've been 30 for three weeks now. Not sure about the coolest car out when I was born, after all it was the 70's, it couldn't have been that great. I do know that I was driven home from the Hospital in a Fiat X-19. That's right, a car with no back seat. And yes my mother was there too. Guess where I got to sit?
  14. I was just reading an article, in Car and Driver, of all magazines. The author said that he has a wall in his garage, with all the empty boxes from models he's built. Am I wrong for throwing away the boxes? Do you all hate me now? C'mon, I live in an apartment. My other question, how do you decide when its time to trash an old model? Ive got one on the shelf, which is almost full, that's a little busted and not all that great, but I cant bring myself to throw it out. Am I wrong?
  15. I dont know how Old I was. But my dad had a freind that worked at a hobby shop when I was little, so we spent alot of time there. I dont even remember him buying me anything. I think it was my Grandfather that bought me my first model, and helped me build it. It was a snap together space ship.
  16. The front (I think thats the front) looks like Steve Urkle's car, and I thought that was a BMW...of some sort.
  17. Excellent! Where did you get that! I have to build one!

I finally finished my Jeep. Id like to thank everyone one more time for all the help and encouragement.
  19. This is exactly what I came on here looking for, I need a driver for my Jeep Diorama. That ebay link seems to be dead though. Where do I get one?

Thanks. I have been getting alot of great advice, and I try to follow it as well as possible. There are so many great builders on here, that at times Im a little overwhelmed with the tips, thats ok though. Ive been looking out for everday Items to use to (another suggestion from the forum). All of the wiring you see is just from a spool of small gauge copper wire that Ive had sitting around or years. The floor mats are the rubber stuff under my toolbox at work. I seem to have deletet the pictures of my base but Ill repost 'em. I think Id like to do more trees and bushes though.

Thanks. Its nice to get get good comments on my first try. Heres a couple more progress pix. Thanks for all the encouragement
  22. Beautiful car, I love the color. My first (real) car was a 71 Plymouth Valiant Scamp, and I once used this same model (with some modifications) to build a "mini copy" of it. Wish I had taken some pictures, even though it came out horrible, mabey Ill do another, now that Im a little better at it.
  23. So obviously, we all have a passion for automobiles. Otherwise, why sould we all spend so much time building little ones at home? Im just curious about how many of us have automotive related jobs in our....non spare time(yeah, thats what Im calling it). So, Ill start. I do aftermarket mobil electronics and some custom fabrication, Ive been doing it for 15 year. I started working on my first car just before I got my licence. I also run my stores garage, and do tech support for all the salesmen who have no idea what they are talking about. How bout you guys?
  24. Looks F*&^@ng excellent. I gotta finally as though, since Ive seen so my models on this site with a lowered suspension. How do you do it?
