    Super 7

Hope you don't mind (cause I'm not changing it), but I copied your pictures and one of them is now the background on my desktop.
  2. Here's mine. #35, 1970 Dodge Challenger Before anyone says it, I know the inspection sticker is way to big, it was the first time doing custom stuff like that and it was stuck before I realized it was to big, oh well, it does look alot bigger in the picture than it really is though. It was alot of fun to do this community build, it my first one and I will be doing others.
  3. OK, dis assembly of the Porsche went pretty easy. Already Ive run into a problem. Is there a way to get this decal off and use it over again? I don't think I even used a clear coat on this car so it should just be stuck down on the bare paint.
  4. I built these for my father at least ten years ago. A few days ago he asked me to fix them because over the years they have been knocked around and some parts have broken. Well, I decide to overhaul them. The 911 will stay the same, except with a better paint job and and a few other small details, engine wiring and what not, I just did out of box build that long ago. The Camaro will get a whole new paint job, some PE details, ect.,ect. Ive never disassembled a model (on purpose), or tried to do any "restoration", so I'm just looking for any insight you all may have.
  5. Thank You! The pinstripe is actually silver, Im not so great with the whole photography thing though. Your very close on the rims, they are from a Golf that I built awhile ago.
  6. I hate to say it, because I love Ferrari's and Volkswagen's My Right Calf Haven't got a Ferrari tattoo yet, but I also don't have a Ferrari I know a few Ferrari Drivers, and from what Ive seen, he got what he deserved, at least he can afford the damages to the VW. And I know someone will say it, so, yes, Im sure Ill drive like a....lets go with jerk, If ever get one too.
  7. Looks great. That paint is blinding, and you cant even tell that the engine is just an insert. Excellent. Cant wait to get mine.
  8. He's right, I know Ive gotten lazy about posting pics. So, Ill try to get this going again. I finished mine about 2 weeks ago and the pictures have been sitting on my camera since then. Not my best build to date, but I tried a few new things, so overall I'm very happy with the way it turned out. This was my first attempt at bare metal foil, two tone paint any modifying a moving body panel. C&C welcome as always, but be gentle. Thanks for lookin'
  9. I'm Not usually a fan of these trucks, but that looks great. I love the stance. Good work.
  10. I don't know to muck about the parts you're looking into, but I did see someone mention them affecting your warranty. If you are at all worried about that, you might want to familiarize yourself with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, its helped quite a few of my customers with scumbag dealership problems. It comes up a lot at work, since all I do it aftermarket parts.
  11. I work on cars (real cars) 6 days a week. I'm not a mechanic, I do electronics and custom fab, so I miss a lot of the details (I do try so take pics when I'm not rushed though). I'm just thinking, what is it that drive all of you Ultra detail guys and where do you find the details? Ive seen some of you do some really intricate, super detail stuff, Ive been building on and off for 20+ years and only hope to reach the levels that some of you can do. I get the impression that some of you do it for a job! Where do you get it all.... or am I just really horrible with my internet searching?
  12. 3. Buy the Super glue Debonder. then you can wipe up spills, and clean up dried messes. I have never used a Debonder. But for my fingers sake (see above post), I think Ill look into it. Thanks.
  13. I see alot of WIP threads that have pictures of cars that appear to be almost fully assembled but mostly unpainted. I realize that alot have custom work, and I understand that. But ive also seen quiet a few that dont look like they are modified. My question, what are the advantages/disadvantages of putting it together then taking it apart, then doing it all over?
  14. Looks great! It always amazes me how well some of you guys do all of the heavy decal work. I would have had to scrap them and paint it a solid color.
  15. Mostly I use epoxy these days, it doesn't dry up in the tube, it doesn't run, it doesn't cause fogging and it won't stick your fingers together.
  16. No, I snagged it. But, you're right, so just in case... a message to the younger modelers on here. DON'T STEAL!! Its wrong. There, problem solved. Thanks to everyone else for the tips.
  17. Ill be stopping by home depot tomorrow then. Keep it comin'.
  18. Are there any model car clubs around Milford Mass area? I think it might be good to get into one, if for nothing more than to get some one on one tips, and start to refine some skills.
  19. Love it! how'd you do the skeletons?
  20. Agreed, on all counts, looks great!
  21. I'm the one who uses it at work. I do electronics and custom interior fabrication. Big difference when your working on 1:1 cars...and can use a spray accelerator knowing you can just wipe up the over spray without issue. Oddly enough, I never have a clogging problem at work, we do have alot of glue though.
  22. I haven't used super glue too much until recently, and I'm starting to have some trouble. I have to clear the tip with a needle every time I use it, even if it was only open for a couple of seconds. I use 3M that I snagged from work, and I'm sure its not the best stuff, but being free (I "accidentally" ordered to much) made it appealing. Question... What do you guys use, for what materials, and how do you keep the tip from clogging. The stuff I have is very runny, but it dries quick, I know there's thicker stuff out there. I guess I'm just looking for all the knowledge I can get on the subject. I know you guys are good for it.
  23. My eyesight has always been bad. I never thought of it affecting my hobby....now I am, I know its a problem at work (soldering, seeing wire colors, ect.) but I get paid by the hour there. I'm dreading the thought that I may have to get "old man" bifocals (even though I know they don't look the same anymore), I mean, c'mon I'm only 31.
  24. Thanks! I think Ill be pre-ordering this real soon. Ive been waiting for an Aston Martin kit for years. I think Ill get it form Hobby Link, since the Tamiya website says $71 and they have it for around $40.
