  1. Looking forward to watching the build
  2. Thanks Gary. That's what I'm trying to do. I want to improve on my detailing and improve the old ones and so when I get to the newer ones I'll be able to do a better job. Where is a good place to get sanding sticks? I saw them at one of the supply places but can't remember where
  3. Yup. Glad it took the paint off that good. Going to hate losing the emblems on the sides and back when I sand to paint. Has anybody done this "make your own " decals? Is it hard? (Remember I'm an old fart!)
  4. Well, While waiting on my razor saw to come for the '62 Dodge Dart, I'll start with step 1 on #3, a 1956 Chevolet Bel Air. Start with a tear down. Apparently if took a fall at some time. Broke out right side vent window frame. Will have to fabricate my own on re-build. P.S. #2, 1960 Desoto , moved to the end, #113. Want to be a lot better before I work on that one.
  5. Ok, Took the '62 Dodge out of the Purple Power Stuff, Cleaned up real good. The top tail lights are still in the body but took the chrome plating off them. Will Chrome paint them later. That was Step 2 of the Dodge project. Ordered a razor saw to cut the frame of the 64 dodge down to fit under the '62 body. so time to move on to #3, Step 1, 1956 Chevy, (#2, 1060 Desoto got moved to the end at #113 . I want to be a lot better when I go to work on that one) Later
  6. Thanks Bill
  7. Thanks Bill. Once I cut the frame in two , what is the best way to reinforce it at the cut, or is it necessary?
  8. I got a '64 Dodge, "Color me Gone" lindberg kit. As seen in the photo it's bigger than the Johan kit. 1/2 inch longer and 1/4 inch wider. Wider not a problem, but the length, I'll need to take some out the center and some off the back!? I don't know. What ya'll think?
  9. Great build! I'm liking it

    Ford Woody

    Great job! Looks so realistic!
  11. Mod31 Lover, thanks. Can you recommend a good primer or does it matter? Also I'm attaching a picture for reference if anybody wanted know. I soaked a tool box I got in a nascar kit and painted red. Purple Power will dissolve glue apparently. It came apart and most the paint came off with out scrubbing. Got the body and hood soaking now.
  12. Ok, I got the body and the hood soaking in Purple power. Meantime, I've got a Badger 150 professional air gun. With a regulator is there any reason I can't hook this up to a regular air compressor? Mike999. I appreciate the tip with the oven cleaner but have use it on real cars. Like you said the fumes are toxic and burns if you get it on your skin. Will use it if Purple Power doesn't work
  13. Great tips! Will try.
  14. Well, Got a painted part soaking in some "Purple Power" over nite to see how it works before I put it on my '62 Dodge. Decided to start on #2, A Johan 1960 Desoto. After dis-assembly I found a dilemma. The side trim on the left side was molded crooked. To straighten that out I would need sand off the low part and re make that spot , which means I would end up sanding the whole body and re-painting. I don't mind that, Will give me a chance to try my hand at air-brushing. The problem is if I do I will lose The "Adventurer" on the quarter panels and probably the "Desoto" on the trunk lid. Aaaaaaaaugh!! Suggestions?
  15. Super nice. Where do you get / or how did you make the braided lines and fittings? Just wanted to add that detail is mind blowing. Super job!
  16. Beautiful job! Tell me how you did the braided line fittings. That's awesome
  17. How do I add a photo to my avatar?
  18. Ok. Got some "Purple Power" cleaner. Is it best to spray it on or soak the body in it?
  19. Nice build. Keep the pics coming!
  20. Anybody know any place that sells tires and wheels? Needing some Crager style wheels and some big treaded tires for the '62 Dodge. Going old school style!
  21. Well, got the red tail lights out. Was able to push them out from the back as picture shows. But the plated one are not coming loose. Just chipping the plating the more I try, so guess I'll do the "Bare Metal Foil" wrap and cover them up. Now to get something to strip the paint off the body!
  22. Cool project. Keep the pics coming!
  23. Hey, the first Car I ever owned was a 1960 Pontiac Catinina Convertible. About that color with a gold interior. Dad gave it to me when I was in high school, back in the 60s,(shhhh). It was a rust bucket , but loved the tank!
