The body is the (1:24) '83 Dodge Charger F/C
-
This is the car that got me into drag racing. My Mom,Dad, and I saw Raymond Beadle race this car race on the 4th of July 1983 at Milan Dragway in Michigan. I was 5yrs old at the time. At one point Raymond did a burnout in the near lane and stopped in front of us. I held up a toy of the Blue Max and he gave me a thumbs up through the window. That car and how Raymond Beadle drove it was the coolest thing I had ever seen and now I'm going to build it!!! That's 2800hp doing about a 300ft burnout!!!! You gotta love it

I got those slides made into pictures and I thought I'd share them, enjoy! I've got cropped versions of these coming. I'll edit them in when I get them

The color is jade green metallic. As with all the cars Brian and myself build the bodywork is all custom made, and-or grafted from other cars. Ithink we should buy stock in strip styrene and putty! -
Just a teaser shot for now, til after it's first show on the 18th

It's Erik again, thanks to you and your AWESOME funny car you have inspired me! I've dug up some old fond memories in the form of some old slides (yes SLIDES) of that weekend in 1982 at Milan Dragway(Michigan). I also found my AUTOGRAPHED pic that I know you will appreciate! With the use of a Vega funny car, with some bodywork and a shotgun HEMI I will build this car!!! I found this photoshop when I was looking for pics of the 1982 car

That front end is lookin' good. I like that chin spoiler! My big hurdle on the '06-9 Charger is the wheels. I never did ask, what are you going to put under the hood? Be sure to check out my friend Brian's Charger concept (Charger 300)

WOW!!!!! ou've got an awesome start, great bodywork. It'll be one BAD MOPAR!

OMG that thing is CRAZY!!!! I like the idea of calling it "Moneyshot", fitting!

My Friend Brian's Charger 300 Concept

It's based on the concept drawings seen in the Oct. issue of Mopar enthusiast magazine. The model is Chrysler 300 based with an AMT '69 Charger roof and hood, a Supercharger grille, and Monogram '69 Charger tail lights

Finally in primer!!! -
Man, that Stang is BAD!!!! The color will influence your rim choice, but for now I like the first ones. Good job on the widebody and the BOSS hood. It reminds me of a Mustang I built in the video game "Need For Speed Most Wanted"! Check out the threads of my '07 Trans Am and my '06-9 Charger.

That is too cool!!! I still remember seeing the '82 Escort EXP bodied Blue Max run at Milan Dragway! I had a 1:18 plastic toy. When Raymond Beadle did his burnout in the near lane, he stopped in front of me, I held up the toy and he gave me a thumbs up (a big thrill for a five year old).

Lookin good Mike! I found these out on the net about the same time i found your Charger. I diddn't know that they were yours til I saw your icon. Nice job blending the first and fourth gen bodies. I LIKE that Firebird, but you know I'm partial! My '07 Trans Am went into primer today and it's shaping up.

JEEZ, what an awesome job on that engine and shifter assenbly. Don't worry about anyone overlooking this baby, that chop job is killer! The stance looks right too.
-
Thanks Peter, I'm gonna have to try that super glue trick. Sounds like the way to some smooth paint jobs. One trick I use is my primer. I use testors flat light aircraft grey or flat white paint depending on what color I'm going to use. they don't seem to be as porous as the "primer" spray. My horor story is my Merc led sled. It was my first car with radical body mods. Saddly I first used Squadron white putty on the whole car. Then I rushed to get it to the '05 Autorama and fouled up the paint. Then it took a bath in Scalecoat, this stripped the paint AND the putty. Then I tried the Tamiya putty. I put it on too thick and when it hardened my roof caved in!!! I WILL resurrect that car though, it's just too cool. Picture a '49 with a 6" chop, 4" section, pancaked hood and trunk, laid back headlights, reshaped rear fenders, and custom front and rear roll pans. Also, it sits on a Chezoom frame (next to a stocker my ROOF came to his WINDOWS)!!!
-
Now that's some NICE bodywork! Don't worry about going slow you get better results that way. That car is a cool concept. What type of puttyare you using? Whatever it is it looks like it forms and sands well. I'm using Tamiya basic on my '06-9 Charger and my '07 Trans Am.

What Is A Good Color To Replicate This Ferrari Interior?
Trans Am Erik replied to Dr Plastic's topic in WIP: Model Cars
In the past I've used testors light ivory to replicate a tan interior. -
Ooooooooo I like that photoshop design! Now if Dodge would have built that (on the same platform) and called that four door thing a Coronet, life would be good! Oh well, at least they got it right with the new Challenger.
