2010 Dodge Charger Concept (update 10/03/09)
Trans Am Erik replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Sadly my Charger did get put in mothballs. For a while I lost my place to build, and I've been working on my full size '77 Bandit Trans Am. My recent model progress has been on my Trans Am concept, the Charger is next. I haven't picked out a color yet or started on a power plant. -
My concept Trans Am based on the Kevin Morgan design
Trans Am Erik replied to Trans Am Erik's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The interior is the Camaro's with the '77 Trans Am dash, wheel (Camaro's column) and T/A shifter -
What to do with one of the Monogram cars with the warped roof?

I have both an origional and a reissue. It's the same kit, only the box art is different. The only problem with the Coyte is the rear suspension. It looks like a tail dragger unless you do some mods.

2010 Dodge Charger Concept (update 10/03/09)
Trans Am Erik replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in WIP: Model Cars
(If it works) Here's a link to my '06-9 Charger concept http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...ic=7050&hl= -
It started with a promo kit and a stretched pro-stock Firebird chassis. Add a custom roll cage and dual magneto funny car Hemi and you get this beast!

2010 Dodge Charger Concept (update 10/03/09)
Trans Am Erik replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great work Peter! I've seen some of your cars on here and your bodywork is very impressive. I also agree that the new Charger is a nice car, IMO it's just not a "Charger"! Starting with a different concept rendering I created the '06-9 charger. I cut up an '06 Charger and a Monogram '69 Charger. Check it out, it has a thread on here, and let me know what you think. -
Good start on that Mustang, looks good with the scoop. I agree with 99GT on opening up the rear wheel wells a bit. Are you planning on adding a rear spoiler and maybe a chute?

Trying to restart an old hobby
Trans Am Erik replied to Oldboychas's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Oldboychas, welcome to the site. I'm just getting back into it after the summer. I've been playing with my full size Bandit Trans Am. One good thing about the hobby is that the quality of the kits and especially paint has gone way up. I prefer using the Boyds or Model Master colors in spray can. Testors has recently come out with a whole line of one coat laqures that work great and dry fast. I typically use enamer paint with a laquer clear. Also, I use flat light aircraft grey paint or flat white paint as my primer, it wet sands great. For body filler check out Tamiya basic putty or two part epoxy putty. I use a lot of the basic on my crazy bodywork. One cool thing on this site is you can just click on a member's name to go to their page, find their topics, or even send them a personal message. To post pictures from your "Photobucket" or "Fotki" account copy and paste the image (IMG) code of the picture to your post. Have fun with this site, I know we all do. Don't pass up the "real or model" game too! -
My concept Trans Am based on the Kevin Morgan design
Trans Am Erik replied to Trans Am Erik's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It's BAAAACK! Yep, even one of my best projects got sidelined by life and my full size Bandit Trans Am. So, picking up where I left off I started looking for a new engine. I found the biggest GM big block i could find (Monogram 454) and made it look like a Pontiac 455. Then with the EFI set up from the '09 Camaro the engine was too low for the shaker to pop through the hood. So instead of lifting the engine I decided it would be cool to add a blower and attach the shaker to the top. I used an intake from the parts bin and the blower from the Mustang Super Stallion. Here's the result. -
DMCC (Dearborn) Meeting pics
Trans Am Erik replied to PatRedmond's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Hey guys, sorry I couldn't make it. My girlfriend Rachel kidnapped me for the weekend and took me on a surprise trip to Chicago for my birthday! We really had a great time. It looks like there was a lot of great cars on the tables. I've dug out some projects that I'd like to finish. I've just been concentrating on my full size Trans Am this summer and making a lot of progress. Well, I'll see you guys a Bob's in a few weeks. I hope to have some new pics on here soon of my concept Trans Am. -

Why do you guys model cars?
Trans Am Erik replied to ericmaxman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well I'm a car nut, have been since day one (according to my parents). My Dad used to be a builder and I started watching him when I was very young. We put my first snap kit togther when I was about 4 (the fire chief '40 Ford). It's been my main hobby ever since. It's so relaxing for me to just shut out all the monotany and stress and create cool cars. I also like sharing my work with my friends. Mine and my roommates' basement model shop is big enough for 3 guys to work, and we made sure there was an extra work table. My only problem is actually finishing a model! Oh well, I just need more motivation. It was partially my Dad that kept me building over the years. Having his stamp of approval is more important than any trophy! My frustration over his constructive critisizm is what drove me to keep outdoing myself with every build. The car on my bench that nobody has seen yet is a replica of my Dad's '73 Corvette roadster. It's taken 3 cars to make it look just right. -
Real or Model #86 FINISHED!
Trans Am Erik replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
I'm gonna say real, and I dig that restored gas station too. That station would make a sweet diorama. -
Hey, good start on the T-Bird, I'll be keeping an eye on it. I saw the 1:1 at Ford World HQ open house. I'll see if I can dig up some pics for you!

She's coming along great Jairus! I'll be looking forward to see those hand made longboards!
-
Nice sprint car, where did you get those wide Pro Tracks? I was told the largest tires they made were 1 3/16X500.
-
Uuuuuum.....good question! It appears that the slot car's motor will take up the driver's seat. 'Ol Raymond Beadle may be reduced to just his helmet for this ride!
-
WOW!!! Great job on that frame, then using real wood for the body is over the top! I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Oh, and check the build up of my Blue Max slot car.
-
Nice job on that woody! I like the opening doors too. The one in the article had to be neat as a slot car.
-
A new set of rear tires because the biggest Pro Tracks were still too small! These are a custom made set made to replicate the top fuel size Centerlines found on the real car.
