  1. Congratulations on a job well done!! I love this build! Seeing all you went thru, it is even more inspiring. I'm glad you kept going at it until you win. Regards,
  2. Hello everybody, I'm back after a couple weeks out of town. I have plenty of catch up to do! New forum format, hundreds od posts, a gazillion emails and so forth. It's good to be back..... Thanks,
  3. Alex, Eu espero ver mais do seu trabalho.. Muito bom!!!! O'brigado,
  4. A 599 Fiorano, a 250 GTO and a 365 GTB4 Daytona coupe and I'll be done with my non-Corvettes model purchases....
  5. Started working on the interior. The Motorola radio is as important as the engine Communications, telemetry etc. Braided Radio Frequency cable. Eectrical lines to an electronic box, electronics wiring out Machined cooler can top and aluminum handle. I thought about leaving that bright and shiny but accuracy won over and it is now correct flat white. The can was blue in the #4 car. Central tunnel is gunmetal. This is only the begining..... it's gonna get busy.... Thanks,
  6. Hey Gerry (Exotics_builder), let me know if, when and where you are "dumping" some of that stuff..... Thanks,
  7. Hello, The primer/clear coat war may heat up. I just saw today at the local Advanced Auto Parts a can of Duplicolor lacquer primer, ready for spray. This is part of their Paint Shop line of LACQUERS. The have primer, several colors and clear in 1 qt containers. They were about $21. Did I mention they are lacquer? This is something I'd like to try eventually..... A qt is a lot so a bunch of people can get together and split it.... Other than primer and clear I saw Chrome yellow, Deep blue, Hugger orange, Performance red and Brillian silver. Interesting.... Thanks,
  8. Beautiful! You really made justice to a great kit! I love all the pictures, but especially the ones of the interior from the passenger door... GREAT! Thanks,
  9. I'm loving this build Jon. Looking forward to see it finished. Before final assembly, make sure every bottle of ANYTHING is far away from it  Thanks,
  10. I use Milliput 2 part putty. There are 2 versions: regular which is gray and fine grain which is white. I use the fine grain. It sands beautifully and feathers (blends) great with plastic. You can get it at Micromark.com It is a 2 part epoxy so it doesn't shrink. Other alternatives are 2 part putties for automotive use. Generally, two part putties do not shrink because they do not evaporate solvents for drying. Hope this helps. Thanks,

    Honda Civic

That came out very nice. Great color. The wheels and stance are also very nice! Good job!
  12. Hans, The Heller/Union/Protar kit has an engine that can be kitbashed. The Fujimi body would have to be cut open. There is a top notch resin caster working on a transkit for this Fujimi release. I talked to him about a month or so. There is no word yet on when it will be available. Judging from his work, it will be awesome..... Thanks,
  13. Thanks Jon, I'll check on that... Sanded the molded belts away. Added some talcum powder to the wet paint and painted again for some texture. Once dry, a light sanding will even it out. The 6 point harness will cover most of it anyways. Thanks,
  14. Cool build, but the paint job and the scheme are AWESOME!!!!
  15. That's very cool! Keep us posted on the progress..... Thanks,
  16. That looks agressive. I love the color. What paint did you use? Thanks,
  17. I agree. That has to be one of the top reasons for loving Plastikote. I did some sanding with as 2400 pad. They both felt similar, maybe a hair harder on the Nason, but too close to call. I guess a better sanding test would have to be a larger surface like a complete body or at least a hood. I'll see if I can do something this week. Thanks,
  18. According to their website it is available in 421-24 Gray, 421-25 Red Oxide and 421-26 Beige Thanks,
  19. first 2 coats of clear..... A few more coats of clear and it is off to a beauty nap while I'm out of town for at least 2 weeks. Thanks,
  20. Hello, I just posted a primer shootout in the general forum. I was not sure where to put it, so here is a link to that post... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5786 Thanks,
  21. Hello, Plastikote T235 has been the Sheriff in Spray Can Primer county for years. However, it is getting harder to find and now, a newcomer wants the position. Is Plastikote ready to retire? Background story: T235 has been my favorite primer in a spray can for years. But it is getting harder and harder to find. The only place in town carrying it, no longer has it. The dealer recommended me this "other" primer: Dupont Nason 421-24 gray primer. He insisted it was as good or better. Skeptical, I got a can for testing purposes. Performance Shots fired: For testing purposes, I used a Revell 2005 C6 Corvette roof as the guinea pig, as this softer plastic is very sensitive. Nason went on very smooth, very much like Plastikote. The back was sprayed with Plastikote. If there is any difference, it is that Nason is just a hair lighter in color. That makes no difference in performance. Score: tie Nason sanded out smooth pretty much like Plastikote. It felt just a hair harder than T235 when sanding with a 2400 polishing pad, but not enough to call it a difference. They were both sprayed lacquer blue paint. I don't see any difference. Score: Still tied These two are tied in performance. Is there any other difference? Yes. Plastikote is very hard to find in my area, and getting even harder. Nason is now carried by the automotive paint outlets, so it is a bit easier to find. Not WalMart Pep-Boys easy, but easier nonetheless. Price: Nason was about $1 LESS expensive than Plastikote: $5 vs $6. They are both tied in performance but Nason gets the edge in availability and price. Your mileage may vary, some restrictions apply, for demostration purposes only, This is not a paid endorsement, etc etc. Thanks,
  22. That's 360 Modena engine... right? and the chassis bottom looks quite modern as well  I like where this is going.... Thanks,
  23. Thanks Chris! I'm blushing  Yes, my philosophy is to make every step as good as if the next one is not needed. Then and only then you are ready for the next step. Never never Never NEVER NEVER EVER think that any step can coverup mistakes or a lousy previous step. Thanks,
  24. Helllo, I'll be in St. Cloud FL (near Kissimmee and Orlando) in early July. Any good hobby shops in the area or anything interesting related to the hobby? Thanks,
  25. The only place in town that carried Plastikote no longer has it  The guy recommended me Dupont Nason 421-24 Gray primer. He insists it is as good or better than T235. I picked up a can and will be testing it later. Has anybody used this? Thanks,
