Looking good Chris. This Fujimi red plastic does not seem to have any serious bleeding problems. Nice choice of wheels. My Cayman S should be finished in the next couple of days. Thanks, Ismael

DO NOT use metalizer sealer on regular enamels
ismaelg posted a topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Hello, Before we continue, yes I know, this is an aircraft but the plastic, the paint, the glue, the airbrush and most importantly, the topic to be addressed are the same as for cars, so get over it Testors Model Masters Buffing metalizers are very popular. They are very useful to replicate different shades of metals. But they are also very delicate and can easily wear off with handling. That's why there is Model Master metalizer sealer. Pretty much clear for the metalizers. I've used it in the past with good results. It allows the "metalized" surfaces to be handled, masked for painting etc. HOWEVER: I'm working on a model of an all aluminum unpainted aircraft and in order to replicate all the different shades of the 1:1 (from dull to chrome-like polished) I'm not only using metalizers, but other Model Master metallics as well. If you look at the 2 tail fins, they look like chrome. That's not BMF, not even Alclad. That's good old Model Master Chrome silver, airbrushed over aluminum. But since it takes about 2 decades to dry, after some heavy UV exposure I sealed it with metalizer sealer. It worked fine and looked right, but a few days later, I masked it for additional painting and the Tamiya tape pulled the clear right off. I put a strip of Tamiya tape over the remaining sealer and it was easily removed without damaging the paint. It surrended without resistance So bottom line: Testors Model Master Metalizer Sealer does NOT stick to metallic enamels even if the bottle says for metalizers and "other" metallic finishes....... We can now return to our regularly scheduled program, already in progress...... By the way, the wings will be BMF... Thanks, -

Hello, Felice Ferriello is one of the best modelers I've ever had the privilege of meeting in person. We met online back in 1998, at what eventually became ScaleCorvettes.com. By a twist of fate, I happened to go to Venezuela on business and it turned out that in Caracas, a city of 8 million people, he lived very close to our office!!!!! I have since then gone again and we meet like very old friends. I’ve met members of his modeling club and they are a very talented and diverse bunch. Every time some co-worker goes there we try to exchange modeling stuff. His display shelf is impressive! Here are some of his builds: His interpretation of a Z06 with a cutoff roof. The yellow C5 in the back is one of my favorites. That was some sort of shootout/group build (group of 2 in 2 different countries) between us back in 2003. We both built Caravaggio Customs inspired cars. I did the silver convertible and he did this one. Interestingly, without knowing it, we both chose the same wheels out of hundreds of options (psst, don't tell him but I like his better than mine... ) Perry's C5-53. I ordered it to my home and had a co-worker deliver it. Most likely the only C5-53 in Venezuela One of my all time favorites, and the car I met him with The very first AMT Camaro concept in Venezuela. The minute it was released, I got one for him, and another co-worker was going there the next day! Eleanor from the movie. He built this a few years ago. A modern companion A Hertz Shelby A replica of his 1:1 which is a perfectly restored car. Monogram Boss 429 And he has the guts to say I inspire him... HA!! I have more so I'll be posting them later. Thanks,

Hi Charlie, I just replied to your PM Ferrari usually allows the customers to order any car is any color, current, past or custom. They also have an extensive range of blues. That sometimes makes difficult to identify the colors. From the picture, it looks like Ferrari Azzurro Met code 515C. This color was available in the early 90's and probably before that as well. There are other similar colors but I think California Azzurro is more silverish, and NART blue is darker, and Tour de France blue is also darker. Azzurro Hyperion 517 could be another possibility, but I'm more inclined to the Ferrari Azzurro met. I hope this helps. Anyway, Ferraris always look good in any shade of blue Thanks,

Efrain, ESTAS VIVO!!!!! Nice color separation and color choice. Red accents will definitely make it pop. The wheels look nice. I know this is just a mock up but I would have the back wheels just a tad more towards the outside if possible. Thanks, -
Looking good so far! I love chassis and undercarriage detailing....

Hello, Say what? The question is: Has anybody tried the Studio 27 Photo Etch set for the Fujimi Ferrari F430 in a Revell Germany F430? Trying to find out how "usable" it is without major mods to the kit. I think it should work but just double checking. Same question for the 288 GTO and Ferrari Daytonas...... Any thoughts or comments? Thanks,
