  1. Welcome to the forum! That's a great concept and a great execution! It is definitely an improvement over the original design Thanks,
  2. Chris, Do you know if those are lacquer? I want to find out how compatible they are with my Cobra Colors stuff (thinner, clear etc) Thanks,
  3. I have heard these paints are very good. Are Is there an outlet in the states? Can these be mail ordered to Europe? Thanks,
  4. Sorry Mark, but I think you posted pictures of your reference 1:1 instead of the model.... Please check again..... 8)
  5. Hello, Last body modification before considering color. Yeah, I said that 10 body mods ago The car as it raced in Petit LeMans had no door handle, just a grab. This is not how the door fits. Just testing for interference. After primer... One more check against reference and I think I'm ready for color... Whew! It has already gone thru a complete can of T235 and part of another one!!! But it's worth it.... Thanks,
  6. Well, I take the parts out of the box into the workbench if that counts Andi, Cool Vespa! Nice color combo. Here in Puerto Rico, modern scooters (those chinese built things) are now so popular I consider them a pest Vespas were popular back in the early '70s. A co-worker just reminded me how they were used for telegram delivery! (I don't know what a telegram is:That's my story and I'll stick to it ) Hola Mike! That is 1/24 The kit comes with some figures as well. Thanks,
  7. That's a very cool Elky! Nice job! Thanks,
  8. Hello, I know gas prices are affecting many aspects of our life, but even the scale model scene??? Talk about a quick fun build. This was made in a few days but total building time was less than 5 hours. This is Tamiya's Campus Friends Vespa 50S. The model has 6 parts, but you know me. I added the brake and clutch levers made of aluminum sheet, the rear brake pedal (aluminum and solder) the kick starter (solder) the horn (alum) and added the key in the ignition with a keyfob hanging, right below the seat. At least that's what I think those things are The license plate decal was placed over an aluminum foil piece of the same size, so it is very thin and metallic from the back. This vehicle is only used inside the complex so it is not registered for road use. After all, the lawn mower has more power. I read somewhere these are about 2 horsepower... Notice these pictures were not taken at the showroom. They are from the shop area where cars are worked on. The Ferrari was in for a wax job I feel like cheating, but this counts as another finished model for the year Thanks,
  9. Thank you all for your nice comments! I appreciate it! I do the plates (and other things like inspection stickers, emblems etc) in my computer and print it with an HP color printer. Thanks!
  10. I usually have a main project which gets 80-90% of the modeling time dedicated until completion, but there are always other projects that may get a bit here or there. One of those eventually becomes the next main project. Modeling time is a precious commodity. I usually work on models after wife and children go to sleep. That is usually between 10PM and midnight (many times well after that), and up to 1 hour in the morning before heading to the office. Contrary to many others, weekends are no modeling time due to family commitments and stuff. I just finished a "Quick Build" curbside snap. No engine, no chassis detail, and it took me 5 intense weeks. A model car can take me months to finish. Thanks,
  11. Ohhh Cool! The color looks great and the mods look natural. I always liked older 911, especially mid 80's. I'll follow up this one closely. Thanks, Note to self: I'm not doing another Porsche, I'm not doing another Porsche, I'm not doing another Porsche
  12. Beautiful! Gorgeous build. Is that a resin body? Thanks,
  13. Robert, Black is elusive to photograph. Just look at 1:1 car magazines and notice there are very few if any black cars making the cover. It confuses the camera meter and usually overexpose. Try taking pictures in natural daylight (no flash, no bulbs) but not in direct sunlight. Step back a little bit so the car doesn't fill the whole picture and if possible (depending on the camera) aim to an edge of the car or a wheel for metering. Hope this helps... Thanks,

    Nice. Love the color!
  15. That looks fast. Good job!
  16. .. to say I had a blast is such an understatement! Our beloved LHS: The Plastic Model Store, hosted a show today. About 200 models were entered, all very nice. It was a good chance to talk to old friends and make new friends. Some regulars from this forum were there: Luis Ayala (papin67), Miguel Barbosa (Barbo), Daniel Gabriel (acura99), Rogelio Mendez(Maverick351), Roberto Fanfan (mad slammer), Mike Candelaria(mcandela), Madera (made007), Carlos De Jesus (CarlosD) and maybe some more. The atmosphere was very relaxed. At the end of the day I was surpirsed with 7 trophies!!!!! From left to right: SH-60B Helicopter 3rd place military aircraft Ferrari 612, Porsche Cayman and Porsche GT3: 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in European cars Ferrari 308 and Porsche Boxster 1st and 2nd in curbsde respectively Chopper: 1st place motorcycles WOW!!! Thanks guys! Good thing Luis Ayala was a judge so he couldn't compete  He had a few of his models there as well and they are out gorgeous! Ironically, none of my Corvettes won anything The american cars table was pack full with great builds and muscle cars abounded. I had a blast of a time! Thanks,
  17. Nice build. I Love it! You did a good job. Thanks,
  18. Hello! I did it! A quick build!!!! I built this model from start to finish in 5 weeks, and that is with 4 days out in Boston and 5 additional days out of town. This is the $7 Boxster snap kit. Technically, the only item bought for this was the Pegasus brakes set. The wheels were previously bought for another project so they were sitting in another box That's a Jairus Watson painting on the wall (Yellow Carrera GT) This should be a blast to drive... Fun little car with an extra punch I like the stance. Almost un-noticeable lower in the front for a more agressive look. "Turbo"!!! This word changes everything..... Notice the Turbo emblem on the glovebox and the programmable turbo boost gauge in the center console Of course, a reference book and a model of itself are part of the package I tried but I just couldn't leave the chassis all black. Not a lot but some color underneath Porsche Seal Gray (OK, Cobra Colors Ferrari Grigio Titanio Metallic) Removed windbreaker between the seats and replaced with acetate. The kit's unit looked like 3" armor glass Seatbelts, buckles, key in the ignition, steering column levers, turbo script, additional boost gauge, photoreduced instrument cluster. Aluminum exhaust tips. Opened the front grilles and added mesh behind to protect the intercoolores and bigger radiators (play along OK?) Photoreduced fender emblem and wheel centers. Having this NOT be a quick build, I would have done a few things differently. I'm not overly in love with the tail lights, and the headlights could be tweaked a bit more. That's my third and last Porsche for now. Now I need either another Ferrari to break the tie or 3 Lambos to make it a 3 way tie Now back to the C6-R Your comments are appreciated. Thanks,
  19. Jeryd, The avatar size limit is 120x120 pixels. Here is a link to a post about them: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4660 And one more thing: There is no dumb question. Dumb is not asking and keep the doubt Regards,
  20. This is my quick build. We have all seen great models been built in very short amounts of time recently. Bob Downie build this same kit in 8 hours! My goal with this one is 7 . . . . . . weeks Body polished. This color turned to be a bit hard to photograph. It looks better in person. Interior is done. Better hurry up. I'm already into week 5 on this  Thanks,
  21. OK I should have said "Good modeling skills! Too bad it is a Ford" Mike, Luis, give me a call when you can...... Thanks,
  22. Ayala, Looking good! Darn it, I think I won't be able to make it to the show next Sunday  We have family visits from out of town and we are having a BBQ in my house
  23. WOW! That's like seeing my life in a flash That is looking good! Like I say "You haven't lived until you hear a C6-R in anger" As you know, I'm doing the same thing as well but what you did in a day has taken me weeks. And I'm not even halfway done. On a more serious note: For your own safety, I would recommend you to use a glove or a plastic bag when painting. Solvents in paint, (particularly in lacquers) penetrate the skin and get into the nerves system quite quickly. Not to mention breathing the vapors into your lungs... Thanks,
  24. Suede? I thought cows were leather wrapped I particularly like the Mooove Over mirror script.... 2 comments: First: You are insane! Second: I want to be like you when I grow up Robert Wheeler did this Cowvette many years ago: Thanks,
  25. Bill, I got it on Ebay from a hobby shop in Texas. They had at least one more listed. I was literally minutes away from click "order" to HLJ in Japan when I saw this one. Thanks,
