  1. Mark, Double check the cams. I think the left one is 1 degree off.... And here we go again with that darn big ruler...... I don't have anything else to say since I ran out of expressions for your work.... Note to self: When I grow up...... Thanks,
  2. Bill, Now that I have my breath back... WOW! As much as I've read about it, and seeing pictures of it, NOTHING compares to see all those features working. My favorite part is the correct angle / movement the windows roll up and down. Truly amazing. Thanks,
  3. Richard, Welcome to the decals haters club. Our motto is "They hate us, we hate them" I used Cobra Colors lacquer. I did about 2 medium coats and a final heavier (wet) coat. Since lacquer dries very fast, it was all done within 30 minutes or so. Thanks,
  4. Thanks for the nice comments. Mal, the clear plastic is actually the bags where the parts come. Beware, some of them have holes. Don't ask how I know  Thanks,
  5. By the way Bob, that's a gorgeous and beautiful build. I hope mine ends up half as good!
  6. HELP!! Police! That's my caaaaaaar!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow Bob, Even in SoCal, I don't think that would have been very common. So yes, most likely we saw the same car! Thanks for the info. I have the Revell Magnum kit and I just bought a Monogram from the 'bay. So I think I should have the material for the build, as long as I receive the one from the 'bay and there is no problems with it... I like the Cobra Colors Azurro California..... Thanks,
  7. Hello, It is interesting that for being one of the most recognized Ferrari cars ever (and one of my favorites as well), kits of the 308 are not that common. At least in 1/24 - 1/25 scales. The Revell Magnum kit is quite bad in terms of fit and accuracy. It seems to be a mix of a GTB (interiors, roof) a GTS (side louvers) and early prototypes (back bumper?) and the scale seems to be off (smaller than the advertised 1/24). I know there is a Monogram GTB. Is it much better? Is it a curbside? Other than these 2, are there more kits of this car? I recall a Testor's one back in the late 80's but it is quite hard to find, even on the 'bay. Back in 1986 (WOW! it's been 20 years already) while in California for a summer intern at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab, I saw the most beautiful Ferrari 308 I've ever seen: It was light blue with very light tan interiors. That car was etched in my then 16 years old mind. I've always wanted to do a model of that car. Any comments? Thanks, Ismael "the Corvette guy who also likes Ferraris" Gonzalez
  8. ....... 2004 Special Edition C5 Z06 Grand Sport Corvette! This car is so rare there were actually..... NONE! The idea is to do a 2004 Z06 (Last C5 model year) in the '96 Grand Sport paint scheme. The idea is not new, as there have been several 1:1 GS schemed clones. Anyway, first law of modeling on my bench: Decals and me do not mix. I hate decals. I Hate Decals. I HATE DECALS I HATE DECALS!!! :x Have I mentioned I hate decals? They hate me as well so the feeling is reciprocal :x I can't even lay a small decal on a mirror without problems. That's why I stay away from building race cars. Sooo, the center stripe and the 2 thin lines on the sides HAD to be painted. Here is the story in pictures: First: The body was painted Cobra Colors LeMans blue. Then masked and painted the center stripe with Cobra Colors Arctic White I was not sure about how to do the 2 thin stripes. So after much consideration I was convinced the best way was to paint them as well. So I masked for the 2 thin stripes and painted them. Yes, it would have been much easier doing it all at the same time, but this was my first time... This is how it looks now. Not bad for been my first time masking a second color! So now I'll wait 1 or 2 days t do a very light wet sanding with 6000 grit pad, then clearcoat. The other change on this build is that I will replace the kit's automatic tranny with the correct 6 speed. As always, your comments are appreciated. Sorry for the long post. Thanks,
  9. Thanks all for your nice comments. Let me work on that tutorial....
  10. Thanks guys, (whispering) Pssst: Bob, Chris: technically, the struts work, but they are very stiff and do not allow the hood to close completely, so for all practical purposes, they are static Thanks,
  11. Hello everybody! Here it is! The world premiere of my custom Ferrari 612ig! I really like the way it turned out. Cobra Colors Oro Chiaro paint. You can read about the car in Motor trend (opened), Forza and Sports Cars Illustrated The owner is also into scale models  No eating in the back seat! Ya hear! Many more pictures and details here: http://puertoriconet.com/images/612 Your comments are appreciated. Thanks, Ismael "the Corvette guy who wanted a fancy 4 seater to get around with the kids in style" Gonzalez
  12. Yo Maaaa!!! King Kong just grabbed a car and he's playing with it!!!! I've read a lot about it but it is really cool to see it working. Thanks for sharing Bill.... Thanks,
  13. Now, everybody sing with me: "I want to be like you when I grow up" Excellent as usual. I love your in progress reports at least as much as the finished product! Thanks,
  14. Very nice Tommy! I like it all, but especially the tubs! Keep us posted on the progress. Thanks,
  15. Welcome Tommy! If you haven't already, I want to invite you to check my site: ScaleCorvettes.com http://www.scalecorvettes.com Thanks,
  16. Impressive as usual. When I grow up I want to be like Mark, or get a ruler that big Where do you get delrin? I can't believe we threw away several tons (not thrown away, but sold as scrap I guess) when our factory closed  Thanks
  17. That's very nice. I love that color. My custom version of that car is almost done. Thanks,
  18. Hello, I've been quite busy lately, so progress on any modeling subject is slow. Here are the wheels, tires and brakes for the Ferrari 612ig custom Scaglietti I'm working on. I hope to have this model finished by the end of this week. Notice the front calipers (first pic) are larger than the back ones. I sanded down the molded in calipers on the front rotors and replaced with resin units from the parts box. The Brembo logos were printed in my computer. The valve stems are hard to see but they are there. As always, your comments are appreciated. Thanks,
  19. Hello, Here is another build from last year. Instead of your usual nicely loaded car, I wanted to do something different: A plain Jane, plain vanilla, cheap (relative) base model C6. So I modified the kit for a base 2005 model. Why would you do that? This could be either: - A car you would buy to modify extensively either for racing or customizing (show car, aftermarket demonstrator etc) - A dealer "bait" car to advertise "Brand new 2005 Corvettes starting at only $$$$" - A car you die for but can not afford, so you go to extremes to get it The important thing about this model is not what it has, but it does not: -NO body colored door handles. - No body colored 3rd brake lamp - Base 1SX Ebony seats, NOT 1SA or 1SB sport seats. - White paint. NOT extra cost paint like LeMans blue, Millenium Yellow or Magnetic red. - NO 1SB Heads Up Display (HUD). - NO F55 magnetic selective ride control option (knob behind shifter) - No navigation system - NO XM radio - NO CC3 transparent optional roof. Just the regular painted one. - Standard aluminum wheels. NOT QG7 polished or QX1 competition grey, or chrome. - Standard brakes with NO upgraded rotors from Z51 suspension option. More pics and details here: http://www.scalecorvettes.com/Corvette%20g...smaelc6/wht.htm Thanks,
  20. Hello, Here is another C6 I built last year. Again, some of you have seen it already. Cobra Colors Magnetic red tricoat paint. Rear hatch cut open. More pictutres and info here: http://www.scalecorvettes.com/Corvette%20g...smaelc6/mag.htm Thanks,
  21. Cool model Billy. That is a sort of grail of mine. I met John Tucker (Preston's son) last year and we had a very pleasant conversation. I also took many pics of the blue car in the Swigart museum. Thanks,
  22. Hello, This was the first model I finished in 2006. Some of you have seen it already. Yes, it's a full detail glue kit of a C6 convertible, No, Revell never released it. I combined the full detail glue kit of the coupe with the deck lid of a snap convertible. This is how it started. And this is how it finished: Cobra Colors LeMans blue, fully detailed engine bay with more than 25 added details, heavily modified C5 conv. top and a lot more. More pictures and detailed description here: http://www.scalecorvettes.com/Corvette%20g...nv/blueconv.htm Your comments are appreciated. Thanks,
  23. Nice. I've done a few of those. That's one of my favorite kits.
