  1. Leon, You have a magic hand to lay down beautiful paint jobs. That car really looks GREAT in that color. I finally got my hands into the elusive Fujimi Gallardo and I hope to make it justice with your Giallo Midas Pearl. Thanks,
  2. LEON!!!!! Welcome!!!!! What a nice surprise to see you here! Just got back from a little over a week out and I was really suffering internet retirement: sweaty hands, shaking and all. 8) Looking forward to your posts! Thanks, Ismael "a Cobra Colors Cheerleader" Gonzalez
  3. Chris, One of the advantages of using lacquers like Cobra Colors is that they are harder than hobby paints, and can withstand the rigors of polishing better. That doesn't mean you don't have to be careful with edges etc. But it is more forgiving. Another advantage is that if you do run into a problem it can be touched up and blended. My suggestion is to go slowly, and since you already have a good foundation, start with higher pads like 6000 or so and see how it goes. If you are using liquid polishes, start with the finer ones and see how it goes. I hope to be back by the 24th and continue with the body polish. BTW, did you get my reply to ther PM? Thanks,
  4. Hello, I have what some may call a polishing ritual. Whenever I start polishing a model, I do the hood first, all the way to the finish. Then I start with the rest of the body. Here is the polished Z06 hood. No waxing yet, just polish. Now I need to focus on the body. Too bad I'm going out of town tomorrow for at least a week. I was thinking about a dehydrator. Then I realize it took me 3 weeks to finally get a chance to polish the body. So I'll spend that money on wheels I hope to get back soon! Thanks,
  5. FIRE!!!!! Manny!! Quick! That car is on fire!!!!! Those are GREAT looking flames! Thanks,
  6. Lee, This is not for a convertible. This is for a Z06 and unfortunately, the interiors will be barely visible. Bill, The belts on this model are made out of a special exotic material called Masking tape I simply cut the tape to the desired width and paint it. You kind of "texture" it with the paint. I cut it so it fits the photoetch buckles. I do that on models where they will be hard to see like this one. For a racing type harness, I did this red one below using solder wick. It is copper material used in electronics to absorb and remove solder. It is a bit more tricky to work with. Some may argue the pattern is too strong but I like how it looks. You can find it at Radio Shack or any other electronics oriented store. Hope this helps. Thanks,
  7. Thanks Kyle, For the interiors I used Humbrol flat dark grey mixed with a few drops of Testors black. The idea was to create a very dark gray but not quite black. I like the Model Masters Euro 1 Gray for this, but it was not available, so I mixed it. The side bolsters are Model Masters Neutral Gray. Since it is a very flat military color, I airbrushed a second coat very dilluted to get a little hint of gloss. Still flat, but not dead flat. The aluminum trim is good old Model Masters Aluminum. Thanks,
  8. Thanks guys! Bill, I made my own "jumping" decal on my computer. I took a picture of one straight on and reduced it for printing. Thanks,
  9. Hello, Here is my version of the Z06 oil tank. Sorry for the dark picture. I took dozens of pics but the light was not good. I'll take better pics later. Note I also added the jump starting instructions sticker. ...and here are the finished interiors: Interiors are still dusty from the flocking, so I need to wipe them clean before final assembly. Now it's on to the body. I don't need a dehydrator. It took me more than 2 weeks to get to this point so the paint should be dry enough for polishing. Thanks,
  10. Tom, That's a GREAT color! Looking forward to see more on this. Thanks,
  11. Chris, That is coming along very nice. I LOVE that color. Thanks,
  12. Jeff, I applied the kit's gauge decal to the clear part, then cut a piece of thin clear plastic and put it over it as the lens. As for the color, I'm very happy, since the 1:1 is not really black, but a very dark gray. I airbrushed the Humbrol flat dark gray mixed with a few drops of Testors black. I usually use Euro 1 Gray from the Model Master line but since I didn't find it I mixed it. Thanks,
  13. Hello, I haven't had much modeling time recently, but the Z06 is slowly progressing. The interiors are about 80% done. Lots of little things still pending but slowly getting there. Thanks,
  14. What can I say? BRAVO! I knew you were going to pull it off before mine. It looks GREAT! Thanks,
  15. Bob, You have done a great service to the modeling community. I agree with you guys. LXZ have been ordered... Thanks,
  16. What do you think of these for the F430? Too blingy? I would de-chrome and refinish them in aluminum or silver. I would use the kit's tires or something else "meatier" than those rubber bands. Thanks,
  17. Hello, I got today the wheels I bought on the 'bay to China (Bless the internet). But as Bob Downie warned before, they are small for the F430. These are about 17 scale inches. They may work in the 308, but the F430 looks like a wheelbarrow with them Somehow, I don't like the wheels in the Revell kit. I'll keep looking. Any suggestion? Yes, I have a wheel fetish Thanks,
  18. Einstein said everything was relative. Your "minor diversion" already looks better than our "heavy duty" projects... Looking great. I agree with you. They are meant to be built... Thanks,
  19. Would this count? A model of this would be my closest to a big american full size premium car... Just kidding
  20. That looks bad... In a good way Seriously, that's looking VERY nice. I love to see more Z06s been built... Thanks,
  21. Not Bob but...... Revell has the F430 available with engine detail. However, Fujimi has several versions: the regular F430, the F430 with "Optional Parts" and the Challenge version. they both made a convertible version as well. I have the Revell coupe. I'll work on it soon. Thanks,
  22. Bob, Looking good! I was not aware of that model until you mentioned it last week. I have pictures of a local white Modena Stradale with red interiors, no racing markings. That car looks AWESOME....... I have the Revell F430 and I'd like to build it next. Thanks,
  23. Looking very good Bob.... I bought a Viper just to use the tires but I think I can use the seats in a club racer version of the Z06 I plan. The seats are similar to the ones you used.... BTW, Haven't heard from Brian in a long time. Say hello from me when you see him..... Thanks,
  24. Reading your post again, your approach will result in a much more accurate tank than mine. I only did the top part. Of course the offer stands if you want me to send you one of mine... Thanks,
  25. Lyle, I can't let a fellow Corvette modeler suffer. Email me your address and I'll send you the first tank I did. I already did another one I like a bit better.... Thanks,
