Bob, On your 308, did you need to use any primer or barrier to paint the red plastic interiors a light color? I plan to paint mine light tan, but the red plastic is a concern. I plan to use Model Master paints as usual. Maybe a light coat of Moom Mud? A coat of MM aluminum? Any comments or tips? Thanks,

Hello, It is finally finished!!!!! My 2006 Z06 in Cobra Colors Velocity Yellow. This is one of those builds I can set on the dining table, stand back, look at it and smile with pride. It is by no means perfect, but I am proud of how it came out. It looks even better in person than in the pics. Sorry for the many pics but I took 105 pictures and narrowed it down to 12 or so. This is probably my favorite pic This is probably my favorite pic The blue car in the framed picture is actually my C6 convertible model And that is me with the C6-R on the wall Yes I love the movie, but don't look at the wall. Look at car!!! This is probably my favorite pic My very own license plate. From the side profile you can see the massive calipers and the valve stems Fully detailed engine bay including the famous oil tank, jump starting warning decal, MAF sensor wiring, electricals, plumbing etc. Here you can see another look of the dry sump oil tank. Interiors are very hard to see but everything is there. I love the underside of this car. Especially the exhaust. I always have plenty of reference material for visitors and friends to enjoy. As usual, your comments are welcome. Thanks,

Begining to look like a car: Entering the home stretch
ismaelg replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The Blue Devil project has been around for over a year and a half. It is supposed to be a supercharged 600+ HP monster weighting less than 3000 pounds. It is "suppose" to be kept officially under wraps until Jan 1st, to be unveiled as a 2008 MY... I can't afford it. But I'm already in line to get Revell's version. Thanks, -
Although nobody is doing those decals as far as I know, that scheme should not be very hard to mask and paint using LeMans blue from Cobra Colors. Only the red may be a bit of a challenge. Decals can probably be combined between C6-R and C5-R kits. I would have to take a closer look. Gee, Just what I needed: Another project idea. Thanks folks.... By the way, only yellow C5-R and C6-R cars have won Le Mans. Is that what it takes to keep winning, keep 'em yellow! Thanks,

Steve, That is very nice. You did an excellent job on this one as well. I'm not just a Corvette guy, I'm a CAR guy. So a while back I decided I wanted to do "special guests" to my built Corvettes collection, to include cars from other manufacturers. From the Eff Ou Are Dee camp I chose: you guessed it: A '70 Boss 429. If I ever finish it it will be Grabber blue. Thanks,

Looking good Chris! Have I mentioned I love that color? Thanks,

You are more than welcome! If the stars align properly, there is a chance I will be at the Petit-LeMans race in Atlanta in Sept. If that happens, the camera will get quite a workout... Thanks, -

No plans to take it out. Everything I have uploaded in the last 8 years is still there. -

I just posted a simple web page with the pics I took of the C6R at Indy in '05 http://puertoriconet.com/images/C6R/ Thanks, -
Hello, Since Revell's C6-R is out, I took all the pics I took at Indy back in '05 and made a simple web page for your reference. I admit I'm not an expert on the subtle changes these cars go thru constantly, so I have no idea where or when this particular car raced in this livery. http://www.puertoriconet.com/images/C6R Here is a sample: The page takes a while to load. I hope you find it useful. Thanks,

Hello, Yesterday afternoon, I was running my compressor as usual, to fill up my portable tank so I could paint at night, as usual. When the tank was reaching 100 psi, where it stops, all of a sudden BOOOOOOM!!!!!!!! PSssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh A hose connector failure sent the hose whiplashing and missed me by a few inches. Now that my heart is back again working, I assesed the damage and need to get a few parts from the hardware store. Thanks,

I never thought I was going to like a lowrider, but this one is very nice. I love the color and it is very clean and tasteful. Thumbs up! Thanks,

Very nice Steve! Glad to see you posting your builds! Been a replica stock guy myself, I agree with Ken... Thanks,

No, That's how it will end if you leave it unattended in a bad neighborhood... -

That should work fine. The pearl content on the Velocity yellow is minimal. I'd say un-noticeable. I think it adds some depth but it feels and looks like a solid color. -

Len, This may not hold in a court as hard evidence, BUT, I would think the C6-R is Velocity yellow for the following reasons: Millenium yellow was available only in 2005 on the C6. Velocity yellow was used in quite a few 2005 cars at the end of the production run. About 700 according to my estimates, vs about 2000 cars in Millenuim yellow. The first Z06 made in the assembly line was built in February 2005, with production cars started shortly after. This means that when the Z06 started rolling (as a 2006 MY) 2005 production was already winding down. The 2005 peroduction run officially ended Sept 8. The C6-R was unveiled together with the Z06 in January 10, 2005. It was clear it was going to be a 2006 model year. I've seen pictures of the C6-R in certain light conditions that indicate Velocity yellow. I saw the car personally, but without a Millenium Yellow nearby to compare, it is hard to tell. Bottom line: I would go with the VY but both colors are similar. I'd love to do Earnhardt's C5-R in millenum Yellow as a companion. Thanks, Ismael -
Hello, OK, I promise I won't bother you any more until it's finished. Well, I'll try Chassis, interior and body were mated today. Still a long way to go, but I hope to finish it in time to start the C6R that is on its way to me. I'll be out of the country in about a week so I want to finish it before leaving. The prop is a 24:1 swab Thanks, Ismael

Thanks Pat! Mine should be arriving next week, just in time as the Z06 is about done. I'd like to build this one: yes, that's me. This picture was taken by no other than the legendary Art Anderson. I took many pics of this car. I'll post them if I get a chance. Thanks, -
Working Rear Shocks and Driveshaft with articulated U-joints
ismaelg replied to Scale-Master's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Mark! I'm on the right track. I did some radius to a tool. I'll try a simple small tank, like those in the front bumper of early gassers.... Thanks for keeping the rest of us mortals inspired! Thanks, -

AWESOME as usual. Question from a newbee to machining: How did you make the radius in the transition from narrow to wide? Any special trick? Thanks, -
Beautiful as a work of art and a sculpture. But, when it comes to not only as a beautiful car but also as one to be driven and kick everybody else's butt, you know where I lean to.... I've always had a soft spot for Ferraris and other exotics as well (Miura, Countach, Esprit, early Astons, Maseratis etc) in general from their beautiful design point of view. And then there is Porsche, which I love as well, but more for the driving and performance point of view than for design, which I like as well. Of course this is all a matter of personal taste. Your mileage may vary Thanks,
