  1. David, It was a real pleasure meeting you and your wife. These pictures are from car #4, which ended in the podium in 3rd place. I have more pictures I need to work on. Thanks,
  2. Hello, We all know race cars get dirty during a race. But I was impressed on how filthy the C6-Rs got during the Petit Le Mans race. If this is after 10 hours, I can't imaging after 24 in Le Mans. Now here is a weathering challenge Before: After: you can't even see the decals in the door! Thanks,
  3. Eric, Yes, they told me about Matt's moving. I hope that goes well. I left a little something for you and Matt with Bob. I hope we get another chance to meet! Thanks,
  4. Good Luck... I'll have these and more in a reference page later on. Thanks,
  5. It is all about me I'm the center of the universe Nahhhh. I'm only human, I'm only human, I'm only human Here are some pics of Petit Le Mans. I'll be posting many more as time permits. As you can see I had a blast!!!! http://puertoriconet.com/images/Atlanta2006/ Thanks,
  6. John, that came out REALLY nice! Maybe we should do a 612 posting day. How about the 6th of December? Thanks,
  7. Now that you mention it, here is a pic of the unfair air inlet. You can see it is less than 1 inch diameter. This is one of the many pictures I'll post, probably in a separate web page along with the story on how I became "part" of the Corvette racing team for this race. Thanks, Ismael
  8. ... I can't find the words to describe the experience, because every superlative is an understatement. I don't deserve all that fun!!! I had the best car time in my life. Meeting David Palmeter at the track and Bob Downey, Wayne and the whole ACME gang was absolutely GREAT! I had the best of times. I need to cach up on a few things (like sleep) but I'll be posting more about the trip and some of the 350+ pictures soon. My new motto is: "You haven't lived until you hear a C6-R in anger" Thanks,
  9. Petit Le Mans: Here I go!!!!!!
  10. GREAT build Lyle! These kits are a home run. To the ponit that even I may consider them...
  11. Welcome to our not so secret hideout
  12. Steve, that's a beauty!!!! it looks GREAT !!!!!!!!
  13. Mark, Best of luck with the show. Looking at the contest web page, what does "No sweeps" means? I'm not really familiar with shows or contest rules. Thanks,
  14. I have 2 words: Hellas Blue Thanks,
  15. Hello, I really enjoyed every second of the time I spent bringing this to its former glory. I had to fight temptation to "update" or improve on it. This is the way it was 18 years or so ago when I was 18. So it's been with me half of my life It will now reside in a display case, hopefully to last a lifetime. Unfortunately the chrome has faded badly and it is still missing a wiper. The only ugly part of this car is the uptop. Not too bad for a teenager isn't it? Thanks,
  16. Cool! I've seen those Cappuccinos in my trips and a Miata looks as big as a '75 Cadillac convertible next to it
  17. What a mess! Good thing I finished the current project. I was getting less and less space and I ended up with just a square inch to work in It will take a big effort to organize it back so I can start on something else... Thanks,
  18. The only bad part is that it will eventually be finished
  19. Great start! Keep us posted. That car is sooooo popular here.....
  20. Hello, This is a 1/3 scale RC Ferrari 308 painted to match the one in the garage:  Ohh you want to see the big one? This is the Monogram 1/24 Ferrari 308. Very simple kit, maybe less than 40 parts, but a good foundation. Repeat with me: Curbside, shelf model,Curbside, shelf model...) Cobra Colors Azzurro California Metallic. The Revell Magnum's 308 kit donated the wheels, tires and wipers. Crazy Modeler Photoetch emblems. The parts count was doubled on the interiors alone The key is in the ignition. Added all switches, knobs, all new shifter and shifter plate, seatbelts, seatbelts latches etc. etc. etc. Aluminum exhaust tips with a very slight flare at the end. My now usual book in the seat. Personal license plate. Wheel logos and nose emblem courtesy of my computer. US spec marker lights. Back bumper filled smooth. Valve stems Windshield tint Plus many other mods or additions. The biggest disappointment is the tail lights. In the 1:1, they are big, thin and concave. The kit's parts were small, thick and convex. I did my best on them but it will always be shown from the front. This was supposed to be a quick build. And for my rate of building it was quick: Only 2 and a half months. This is a great little kit that goes together very nice. It can be done as a really quick build or you can take your time and do something even nicer. Ohh, And this is a Hot Wheels painted to match the bigger one. It is 1/64, so it is a 1/3 scale in 1/24. (OK, 1/2.66 in 24th scale but who's counting?) The remote control was a lot of fun to build. (Pstt, no it doesn't work. Can't find batteries small enough ) What do you think? I know this subject is not the cup of tea of many, but, as usual, your comments are always appreciated. Thanks,
  21. Nice save! It looks very good! Thanks,
  22. Hi Chad, Glad to see you here! You have a great eye. This was one of the first parts I did, and the problem was the material used. I did not have much good material to work with at the begining. I mail ordered some great aluminum and brass alloys. But this was cut from... you guessed it, cheapo hardware store rod. I'm relatively new to machining as well, so now I'm learning about grinding my own tools, keeping them sharp etc. It's a lot of fun and it can be a hobby within the hobby. Only constraint is time Thanks,
  23. Hello, This is the 3rd and last of the "barn finds" for now. This is the Monogram Testarrossa convertible. I built this one around 1987-88, not long before or after the 308 rebuild. Most likely, the 308 was painted with the leftover paint of this project. When I finished this model, I clearly remember thinking "WOW, I've reached perfection! It doesn't get any better than this" Today I think "yeah right....." This was my best work to date at that time. I also clearly remember after finshing it, proudly putting it in the dining table so mom dad and my sisters could see it when coming home. Keep in mind it was a VERY solitary hobby back then, and it was still 4 or 5 years before I even met other modelers, thanks to a college graphic artist. This was one of my last car models before defecing to the aircraft side for a few years. Time has not been very kind to it. the wheels have lost some of the chrome and the paint is not even a shadow of what it was. But I think the enamel has fully dried Ohhhh the memories...... Now for the small part request: (I know there is another forum section for that) Would anybody happen to have a spare driver's side windshield wiper for this? That seems to be the only part missing. Thanks,
  24. Here is the second one of the "barn finds" Found this one 2 years ago. It has since then joined my new builds in the display. I just cleaned it and put it in a display case. Famous 3n1 kit. gotta love those. I built this in 1984-85 or so. I clearly remember going to the hardware store next door and getting a can of hi heat engine enamel. For some weird reason I was thinking it could protect it from heat. Go figure. I also remember taping the wheels and the air filters to a cardboard and spraying them gold, at the back corner of the house outside. The red interiors I think were painted with mom's floral paint. I also clearly remember putting an additional chrome timing cover in the firewall as a "pretty touch" Hey I was 14 or so then Ohh the memories...... Thanks,
