Very cool indeed!

First a disclaimer: This is Jairus fault. Second: I am a total ignorant when it comes to motorcycles. I haven't even ridden one (unless you consider a 50cc moped a bike). So I have no clue as to where this is going. All I know is that I'll use the frame, engine and wheels, with everything else a toss up. Frame went together nicely. Yes the kit has 2 tanks. But I want my own tank. Extra points if you guess what this started out as... I want my bike to have a tail light. This means the fender can not go in the original location. I have many ideas for this. Too bad I'll be out of town next 2 weeks or so. It is nice to build something YOUR way. Even if it makes no sense Thanks,

I totally agree. I guess my point is that the subject is not that important (at least to me) to justify all the extra work. Having this been a grail of sorts, I'd be busy fixing it  Now, where's that Revell chopper bike?

HA! I feel the same way when I see something from Mark Jones, or Bill Geary or many other greats... Thanks for the compliments  Thanks,

If the sink marks were consistent, it would have made an interesting set of wheels The chrome is not very good but I usually strip it anyways. Fixable? yes. Worth spending the time and effort in fixing them? I guess not Thanks,

One word: UNUSABLE!!!

Hello, I'm in a "confusion" state in the hobby. I took a break from cars for a while, and all of a sudden, I have 2 helicopters, 1 armored self propelled howitzer, 2 airliners, a revell chopper bike and now the concept Camaro all on the workbench at the same time... For the first time in years I'm not focused on one main project. I'm just jumping from one to another. I started dealing with the sink marks on the Camaro. Still have no idea where to go with it. Nine sink marks and those panel lines were too big. Thanks,

Revell Chopper Build Off
ismaelg replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK, so I've joined the club. I hope to have it finished by the Feb. deadline. My idea is to keep the frame, wheels and engine, everything else is a toss up. I'm a total motorcycle ignorant, so I have no idea what the heck I'm doing I hold Jairus responsible for this. This is totally his fault. Thanks, -
Question on behalf of a friend: Has anyone sprayed Duplicolor clear over Plastikote paint? Both spray cans. I guess it would be ok since the plastikote is acrylic lacquer and it's pretty tough, but I'm not sure. I suggested to try it on a scrap piece first, but I'd like to know if anyone here has done it. Thanks,

Very nice '55! Nice blend of C6 touches to it.

Hello, Ever since we saw the movie CARS my 6 yrs old son is hooked with Ferraris. Like Luiggi said "A REAL FERRARI!!!!" He is always on the lookout on the road for Corvettes and Ferraris Since yellow is his favorite car color (at least this month ), Santa had a hard time tracking down a yellow Maisto Ferrari kit for him. The original idea was a F430 but Santa could only find an Enzo. Oh well... The girl wanted a piece of the action, so she was asked to help with a wheel TaDa!!!!!! Proudly showing it in dad's display case. These kits really serve a purpose: Paving the way for greater things. But I don't think he is ready for a Tamiya Enzo yet Thanks,

That's a very cool Grand Sport inspired paint scheme. It suits that car very well! Good job!

Very interesting results. Quite different to my own ranking. I'll let the poll go until the 31st, but it shouldn't change that much. Thanks,

2005 Corvette Buildup Teaser pic-----1/28/07
ismaelg replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking good Bill! I'm out of town but I'll write a longer note later. This is one of my all time favorite kits. Watch out for the soft plastic. Plastikote, VX and Moon Mud primers work fine. I had problems with Duplicolor. Also watch out for the front driver's side wheel alignment. I also found out that it is easier to install the headlights separated. I cut them into 3 individual parts. I've built 3 but I have the itch to do another one, this time Atomic Orange with tan/black interiors. Looking forward to see yours built!!! Thanks, -
"Holy Grail" Models?
ismaelg replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Speaking of grails, I just got this in the mail, all the way from Ukraine!! I won this auction only 2 weeks ago. I really thought these would take months to arrive. -
Hello, Inspired by the work of others, like Tom (stingray69), I would like to try brass soldering and do a simple roll cage or something like that. This is my first attempt. It is not perfect, but I was not expecting it to be in the first try. Now I need to practice a bit more and play with temp settings, technique and all that. This is 1/8" tubing. I'm trying to find rod so it will be easier to bend to shape. Thanks,

Gang, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you (especially Gregg and Jairus) for making this my online home. I want to wish everybody a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a happy, wonderful, healthy new year. May all your plastic dreams come true!!! Thanks,

Anyone looking for a CARS avatar?

That is Bob Cutlass (Bob Costas' voice) The race announcer along with Darrel Cartrip. -
Hello, Here is some of my own auto art. Nothing spectacular but a lot of fun. The frames are straight. The distorted images are due to the camera setting. This was my High School art class final test: The car of one of the teachers. a Datsun 280 ZX. It is 18" x 24" Next is my favorite car of all time: The Corvette SS. this is 16 x 20 Another favorite, a split window '63 Vette This was part of the art class. A surreal piece made of real elements. It's a space shuttle but the body is a pencil. I forget the name of the this type of art. Finally, you know I like helicopters as well. I have many more started, but then, isn't that familiar? Thanks,
-
Hello, First of all, thanks for this section. I LOVE Auto Art. I need to take pictures of my own auto art, as I used to do pencil drawings many years ago. Nothing spectacular but had a lot of fun. Of course my favorite subjects were cars. Now, from time to time, when I go on international biz trips I usually carry a drawing pad and pencils for the boring nights at hotels. But I rarely finish anything. Sounds familiar? In the meantime, here is some auto art I own: This is the Corvette SS poster by Roger Warrick depicting the start of the 1957 Sebring's race. As you know, I'm obsessed with the SS. I purchased this from Roger himself and he signed it for me. I also own a Jairus Watson original which means a LOT to me  I need to take pictures of that as well. Thanks,

I'm not sure but I think there are also some issues about the negotiations made with the workers about not using the Camaro name in x number of years and/or the plant to be used to build the car. Hopefully, the car will be unveiled Jan '08 as a '09

"Holy Grail" Models?
ismaelg replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've always considered myself a builder, not a collector. But there is no way to draw a line between the two. That been said, I still consider myself 90% builder, 10% collector. This was a great year for me. I finished 8 models (6 cars 2 helicopters). Yet I only bought about 10 kits: 6 cars (of which 3 were built: Z06, Ferrari 308 and C6 snap convertible), a Revell chopper bike, 2 helicopters and 1 armor WWII model. Grails? I have just won on eBay 2 airplane grails, all the way from UKRAINE!!!! But I don't really expect them to show up before year's end. There are some cars I'd like to get, but I haven't bought them because I don't think I have a chance to build them anytime soon. My stash has always been small. It is now at about 55 cars (about 40 Vettes, about 10 Ferraris and some others) 12 helicopters, 8 airplanes, 1 armor and 1 chopper bike. Looking forward to 2007 and to keep sharing this passion with all of you ! Thanks, -

Welcome aboard Aaron! This is THE place to be if you are in this hobby. From racing to cruising, from factory stock to wild customs, there's a bit of everything here. The best model? The one you are the most proud of and had the most fun doing. And Daryl, I'm honored you mentioned me along with those legends  Thanks, -
That's very cool! Those cars were awesome as well as beautiful! I wish I could have seen them in person racing..... Great start! I'll follow up this project closely.
