WOW! The more I look the more things I notice. GREAT work!

I know, I know what you are saying, "Yawn, another Corvette..." But it looks so much better than last year's.... Here's a pic of the 2007 Pace car: Atomic Orange convertible Last year was not bad, from the front wheel backwards, but the nose was... well, ugly. Thanks,

Hello, I don't do commisioned work. But a good friend asked me to paint a model for him. Since I'm still in a car "slump" since November, I thought this could be a good therapy to get back into the groove. Not much progress but I polished the body. The chassis has been painted as well. Will work on the interiors next. Not the best lighting, but the color looks GREAT, especially in sunlight. Thanks,

Hello, I also got my Hasegawa Ferrari 328 from HLJ along with the Cayman. As with the Cayman review: I am NOT a kits expert. I'm just a builder. I admire those who can tell problems and issues just by looking at the open box. But I can only make general comments about it. A japanese kit molded in white plastic HURRAY!!!! That says it all. Parts sprues are bagged together, with the clear parts bagged separately. Parts look nice, maybe not up to "Tamiya nice", but very nice nonetheless. However, there is a beautiful photoetch sprue and a nice decal sheet. It has far more parts than the Cayman S. The body looks great. Some minor cleanup will be in order, but nothing big. I haven't done any test fit at all so that's about it. Looks very good. This is a Ferrari that I think I'll build in red.... Thanks,

Hello, I just got my Fujimi Porsche Cayman S from HLJ. I am NOT a kits expert. I'm just a builder. I admire those who can tell problems and issues just by looking at the open box. But I can only make general comments about it. As usual with Fujimi kits, parts sprues are bagged separately. Something that grabs your attention is the wheels: Beautiful wheels. Fujimi has a good reputation for their wheels and this is no exception. Sprues are beautifully molded with crisp details and no flash to be seen. The parts count is not that high, but then, the Cayman is a 1:1 Curbside as well The body looks to be accurate but I'm not an expert in that area. It is crisply engraved with no major mold lines. Minimal cleanup, if any, will be required. The only negative part is that it is molded in super bright red. Here are 2 pics of the body. That is not painted. That is just bare plastic out of the box, not even cleaned. You can almost get away without paint. But you have to be careful if you are doing it any other color. Overall I like it a lot. The question now is what color? I like yellow, silver and white...... hmmmmmmm Thanks,

The Monogram '53 Corvette has the Blue flame six 235 (3 carbs) with 2 optional air cleaner assemblies: the 3 bullet style of '53 and the 2 round element used later in '54 (at least earlier releases: not sure about most recent ones) This is the '54 I built a gazillion years ago. More pics here: http://www.scalecorvettes.com/Corvette%20g...l54/black54.htm Thanks,

Interesting! I'll be following up closely...

It's called blue, one of the primary colors  Just kidding Plastikote Lacquer Metallic blue. (No, not Duplicolor, Plastikote) Harder to find (at least here) than chicken teeth.

OK, box stock with some "interpretation" of the term No, not for Jose. He is now working on his own. I'm bugging him to actualy finish something. He has since started about 6. He quickly picked the bad habits instead of the good ones!

Looking good Efrain! Nice color....

Since I'm still in a car "slump" since November, I thought this could be a good therapy to get back into the groove. Box stock Ferrari 612. Ready for polishing. I have to remind myself "Box Stock, not mine, box stock, not mine..." Thanks,

Very nice! Love the wheels. That car is always a favorite here. I would give an arm and a leg for a scale version of the 79....(75-79)

Nicely done Bill! My favorite color combo in '05.

Cool Bike Lyle! I bow to the chopper King! I like all your chopper builds.

Mustang Shelby GT500 1969 ----FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ismaelg replied to bestfreshman's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Efrain, I would suggest a black wash on the grille. That is basically very dilluted paint, to flow into the recessed areas. Give me a call (or a PM) and we can talk about it some more...... Saludos, -
Barbo, You may already know about it, but I found a store in Rio Piedras called Finally, and they sell architectural modeling stuff and cool things for dioramas. It is in placita de Diego, close to the "Colegio de Ingenieros" Saludos,

A Dodge & a Nissan? Magnissimo? R34 Magnum? Am I nuts?!
ismaelg replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's very nice Bob! I actually thought of the idea of putting a Concept Camaro front clip to a Magnum. A Mustang front clip would also work, but hey, I'm a Chevy guy -
Revell Chopper Build Off
ismaelg replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hello, I just finished my Atomic orange chopper. There are more pictures and details of the build in the "UNDER GLASS" section. Also, even more pictures and details here: http://www.puertoriconet.com/images/chopper Thanks, -
I wonder if a '57 Chevy convertible had the same fate. It was a logical, but never released AFAIK

Hello, It's finally done!!! First a disclaimer: I'm a motorcycle ignorant. That been said, I was curious about Revell's chopper kits. I called it La Chopa Atomica. Chopa is a puertorican slang for a fish, somewhat similar to a bass. Atomic because the color used is Atomic Orange, a 2007 Corvette color. (What else?) I ended up modifying almost everything. Only the frame, wheels and tires were spared form modification. The fenders were reshaped, added a small tail light, the front fork was machined out of aluminum and tubing, handle bars are brass and plastic, and the fork brackets are sheet styrene, shaped like butterfly wing nuts. The gas tank was widened and a new gas cap was machined. The seat was sanded smooth. The oil tank (4 parts) and the air cleaner housing were also machined out of aluminum. Spark plugs were scratchbuilt and wired. Everything else was wired and plumbed: including: brake lines both front and rear, battery cables, starter, added "fuse/electrical box" with wiring harness, throttle cable, clutch cable, fuel line, oil lines in and out of the oil tank, headlight wire and shifting linkage. Both brake lines have chrome clamps about halfway each, to keep them in place. Different wire gauges were used throughout. A digital speedometer/data/trip computer was machined and the display was created and printed in my computer. Unfortunately, the kit's chrome in the headlight was scratched. But it turned to be my best Alclad job ever. The pictures in the background ARE level. The camera has some "barreling distortion" at macro level. I hope you like it. The sun really makes the color explode! Many more pictures (about 15) here: http://puertoriconet.com/images/chopper/ I had a lot of fun. I hope you approve. By the way, this is Jairus fault Thanks,

Corvette question for Izzy!
ismaelg replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Then you were right The Revell '82 is a snap and it has the wrong engine. Also, 82's were all automatics. (700R4). The kit also has molded sidepipes that don't belong there. I've heard the '83 Camaro does have the correct Cross-Fire engine. Maybe the MPC kits are a better start. But I'm not a kit expert. I do know you can build the Ghost Rider as a stock '81 or '82. Corvette question for Izzy!
ismaelg replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
(BUZZER sound) You already have 2 strikes. There were no 1983 Corvettes, as production cars sold to the public, and if there were, they were like '84s, not '82. There were 44 cars made for testing and press release, but they were all pilot cars. In short, the C4 was not ready in time for production and the decision was made to certify it as a 1984 model year. Production started in March '83, resulting in a very long production year. That help reach the 51,547 production number. A 1983 Corvette would look like an 84, but with 15 inch wheels. The original idea was to have 15s and the 16s as optional. It was then decided to keep the 16 as standard equip. It is believed that only one of the 44 samples survived: The one in the Corvette museum in Bowling Green. Since the 1983 model year was skipped, some leftover '82s were marketed as 83s, but the VIN coding clearly show 1982 model year. Does this helps? Thanks, -
Marc and others who inquired: Here are a bit more details about the simple yet very effective setup: The airbrush hose is permanently attached to the pressure regulator, but the regulator has a quick connect for easy removal/re-attachment I can use that quick connect port to fill up the tank from my compressor. I usually fill it up to 90-100 psi If you don't have a compressor, or you are out of reach of one, you can fill it up in a gas station like any other tire. WORD OF CAUTION: If you do this, then you'll most likely need a moisture trap at the outlet of the tank. Since this is very portable, I can also use it to fill up car tires if needed. Or to power any air tool for that matter. There you have it. This is very simple yet very useful. I've been using it for over 12 years now. You don't see the moisture trap here because I have it in the compressor. Looking at the pictures I realize I need to wash that tank Hope this helps. Best Regards,

Looking great so far..... Saludos,
