Thanks,
  2. Hello, I'm following Monoped's Ferrari 512. I love that car and it inspired me to continue working on this, althought from a different era: This is the Quick Skins resin IMSA Corvette GTP. This car raced between 1985 and 1989. This is a loooong term project, so don't expect to see it finished anytime soon Here is a mockup of how it should look After cleanup and first coat of primer Right now the initial coat of primer has been sanded and more primer will be applied next. Thanks,
  3. Very Nice! I love the realistic look of the bird drop and the duct tape!
  4. Hey Gerry, welcome to our hideout!
  5. Simply AMAZING! You have inspired me to try out brass. I ordered some rods and I'll try to do a simple roll cage. Thanks,
  6. In a nutshell, you can think of a candy like some kind of a tinted clear. A candy is a translucent paint applied over an uniform base, usually silver or gold, while a metallic is a paint that has small metallic particles in it that reflect light like small mirrors. Metallics can usually go over primer and a color basecoat is not needed. Pearls on the other hand are similar to metallics, but instead of having metallic particles, they use mica particles, which are translucent. In a candy color, the light goes thru the candy coat and bounces on the base, while in a metallic, the light bounces against the color but the metallic particles act like small mirrors diverting light rays in different directions. The common thing between them is that they usually need a clear top coat because sanding/polishing would distort the finish. Solid colors are easy to touch up, metallics are a bit harder, pearls and candies are next to impossible. Hope this helps. Thanks,
  7. Sad day indeed. He is not just a paint supplier, but a true friend. He went thru this once before, so I hope he can find the time to come back later. I certainly wish him the very best in whatever his next projects are. Thanks,
  8. Looking good! That's very cool! I considered that color for mine as well. Remember, we'll have a Ferrari 612 posting day the 6th of December. Here is a link to mine: http://www.puertoriconet.com/images/612/ Thanks,
  9. Looking good so far! I was wondering about this project a few days ago. I'm very interested in following it up. Keep the updates coming! Thanks,
  10. Nitida mi pana! Love it! Great build! You can't go wrong with the most popular of all time with the 5 elements: '67, convertible, big block, red and sidepipes Thanks,
  11. Thanks Richard. I use Tamiya tape. I love it! It is one of those products you ask "How did I live without this" Thanks,
  12. Glad to see the '67 Corvette coupe back. This is the first time it is reissued. The rest of the list looks good, but I have a question: Why in the world a Cadillac STS-V when all the attention is on the CTS-V? A CTS-V with the optional racing parts and Andy Pilgrim's decals would be hit. I know it's been developed elsewhere, but not in plastic for the masses. Thanks,
  13. That's where the lacquerholic part comes from. Those 14 bottles in the first picture came in the same box by mail on Tuesday (my order plus a few samples Leon sent) ...
  14. Hello, You are probably thinking it's a decal. But it is not. For the life of me I can't lay a decent decal even in a flat mirror. I hate decals, they hate me That's all paint. In fact, this is my first two tone paint job. The blue is Cobra Colors LeMans Blue and the white is Cobra Colors Arctic White, both Corvette factory colors. It would have been way much easier to mask everything and shoot the white only once. Oh well, I learned the lesson. Thanks,
  15. WOW! That perfect black trim really stands out! Very nice!
  16. Hello, Not exactly in the home stretch yet, but getting there. This is the C5 Z06 Grand Sport Tribute. It's a 2004 so it IS a vintage car for me I think this can be finished within the next 2 weeks or so. Yes, I'm slow and don't have as much time as I would like... Thanks,
  17. It has infinite power and it's free. On the downside I have no control over it THE SUN Just kidding. I'm thinking on getting a dehydrator because I paint mostly at night. But in the meantime, this will do Buy the way, this is the in progresss C6-R Thanks,
  18. GREAT JOB! I especially like the tribute hood. Just to think about all those decals is scary. I've never been able to decal properly. Thanks,
  19. Ken, Good start! I gave casting a try a few years ago and I actually ended up selling parts, but it was time consuming and the materials had a terribly short shelf life in my weather conditions. You don't want a vacuum chamber for the bubbles. On the contrary you want a pressure pot. I got one at Sears. You pour the resin into the mold then quickly put it into the chamber and pressurize it with a compressor. That should help take care of the bubbles. Hope this helps. Thanks,
  20. Hello, I know I know, what the heck is this? First a little history: As a child and a teenager in the '80s, this was the quintessential exotic dream car. Everybody I knew that was a car buff had a poster or a magazine article or anything about it. On top of my bed were many posters, including Corvettes, Vectors and Countach Lambos. An urban legend in my town said that this car would not work below 60 MPH (How stupid was that!) You could only dream of seeing one. Around 1988, for Christmas, my parents gave me a Testor's 1/48 scale Hercules C-130. "Would you mind if I change it?" - "not at all" So I went to the toy store and exchanged it for one of this: Testor's Fujimi Lamborghini Countach LP5000S. I built it 100% box stock which is not bad at all, since it has 240 parts! It was painted hardware store paint bomb black with dark red interiors. About 10-12 years ago, I traded it in to a co-worker for an unbuilt Corvette Pace Car Fast forward to the present, I just got this from the bay. I wouldn't call this a super holy grail, but I have fond memories of that model. This time I think I can do a bit better. This time, I plan on white with dark red interiors. Yes, I know this is cheesy at best, but hey, you can't be objective about car passion Thanks,
  21. Hello, I heard about an earthquake in Hawaii this morning. I know Gregg in is the mainland but I hope everything is OK for his family and friends..... Gregg, any news? Thanks,
  22. Tony!!!! Welcome to the forum! Nice to see you here! Nice T-bird. Thanks,
  23. Hello, This is always an interesting subject. Not that I don't have enough projects for 3 lifetimes but here I go: Corvette Sting Ray Racer Ferrari 330 P3 IRL cars Le Sabre concept car 1979 Toyota Corolla 2 door coupe Deluxe Solstice Saturn Sky Cadillac CTS-V Cadillac XLR Pontiac G6 coupe Vector W2 Vector W8 Vector WX3 Koenigsegg CCX (These last 4 I'd be happy with just a solid chunk of resin without any interiors or drivetrain) I'm sure I can come up with many more...... Thanks,
  24. Welcome to the forum Greg!
