Beautiful job! Love that color.

Hello, After some unsuccessful attemps at doing my own horn trumpets for this project, I tried improving the kit's parts. Here you can see the before and after. Still some additional fine tuning but it looks way much better. Thanks,

I don't want to hijack Chris' thread, but yes, mine is blue. But mine is not exactly box stock. I converted it to a 2003 996 GT3 among other things... link: http://puertoriconet.com/images/porsche/gt3.htm Thanks,

Cool! That came out very nice. Interesting color. I love that kit. Cal, several of us have built that kit here on the forum. It's a wonderful kit. Thanks,

Hello, There is a missing link in my conversion of the '32 Chrysler into a '33 Imperial Pace Car: The wheels. The Pace Car used chrome "Artillery wheels" but the kit has wire wheels. Here is another look at those wheels. Several modelers are helping me search but no luck so far. Any idea or suggestion where to look or where to start? Thanks,
-
I'll follow up this one as I have that kit started as well.

FINALLY!!! It is taking shape! I like this chassis so much it's a shame to cover it with a body Thanks,

What kind of a sick person builds models mostly of the same subject line? Oh wait....... I do too Nice Skyline. It looks great in orange. Personally, I prefer the looks of this one to the new one. Thanks,

The brass, plastic and aluminum exhaust system looks promising. I only hope it fits together Thanks,

Last working feature! I promise! At least for now. steering system done Now I need to paint and assemble everything.... Thanks,

Hi, Reasons to replace some kit's steering system parts with brass: - Really round - Scale thickness - works better in moving parts - looks overall better - it's FUN! and here is the video on how it works: Thanks,

Cool! I want to get one of those soon....

The "string dusted white" thing you mention, does it look like cotton candy? If so, that is called "veiling" and it means paint drying in the air before hitting the surface, so you get paint dust particles in the surface instead of atomized liquid. You need to sand it down as adding more paint will not help. To prevent that you need to increase the pressure (I use 20-25 psi) make sure the paint is thinned enough and get closer to the surface. Way too many variables can contribute to this, including those less likely, such as a faulty regulator that may be reading wrong. Good luck! Thanks,

Hello, In this installment: The kit's hood and decklid hold downs are nice, but not good enough for him. In fact, his look even better than the photoetch units which are flat. I have a pending conversation with him for a few questions I've received about this build by email and PMs. Thanks,
-
Thanks Danny, That was original. The top of the line engine was the 385 cu in inline 8 with the head painted red. Appropriately, it was called the "red head". You see, Ferrari DID NOT invented the Testa Rossa (red head in italian). As with most of my builds I try to go for historical accuracy. That's why I enjoy "factory stock" and "documented replica" builds. Thanks,

Finally! Some color! First color coat. I put a strip of white styrene for color reference. Psychedelic image isn't it? Thanks,

My experience with Hobby Link Japan (HLJ) has been very good. I have received orders from them FASTER than from some mail order retailers in the US. Personally, my treshold is at least 3 kits per order. Less than that and shipping is considerable per item. Still, shipping is reasonable considering my kits go halfway around the globe and can get more frequent flyer miles than me The only drawback if any, is that many items are usually out of stock or backordered. Other than that they are great. Thanks,

Wow! I found this beauty on YouTube. They sync film footage with the radio broadcast of the start of the race in 1955 and did a marvelous job! Thanks,

Tim, you had me digging up boxes that had not seen light in over a decade Here is the racing boat. I lost interest when I started thinking on a wild tiger stripes paint job and how to make the engine steering work. I have since then lost all other parts. This is the trailer I started to scratchbuild for the Miami Vice boat but in 1/25. I lost interest when I started fooling around with working leaf springs for it And this is the 1/32? Miami Vice boat I started to convert to 1/25. The seat and steering wheel are from the parts box, most likely from a '70s van and a Model A pickup respectively. The seat is in a piece of aluminum tubing like a bar stool. I lost interest when I started fooling around with the idea of a '67 Corvette hood as engine cover, but then I wanted to put a 427 in it and scratchbuild the rest of the powertrain etc etc. Do you see a pattern here? I tell you, it's not easy to be diagnosed with "overcomplicaditis" I even built this to pull it... Who knows, some day I may get back to those Thanks,
-
Nice website! PM sent....

Over 15 years ago I started converting a Miami Vice speedboat (1/32ish) into a 1/25 boat and I also started a F1 race boat. I even started scratchbuilding a trailer for it. The F1 has been in primer for over 14 years If I find them I'll post some pics... Thanks,

Did I miss P-51s on the flyer?
-
YAWN! Nothing on that flyer for me... except maybe, just maybe, the Hind helicopter if it's the old Monogram in 1/48, which I started 15 years ago and lost it since then..... Well, at least I'll save money for more paint and parts
