  1. I did. I wanted a ‘67 Coronet on my shelf, but couldn’t stand the droopy look of the Revell Kit.
  2. Oddly enough, I much prefer the AMT ‘72 Chevelle version over the genuine ‘70. Truth told, I’m just not a fan of the ‘70 Chevelle. I prefer the ‘71 and ‘72. So the box art build suits me just fine. …..also, for anyone else reading, I was able to get a really nice set of reproduction decals for the Red Alert Race Team online. The print and colors are vivid, and the Branch Motor Express Co and The Devil Made Me Do It are printed in gold foil. VERY nice decal set. Do NOT buy the one on eBay under the seller Southern Motorsports. It’s not good at all.
  3. Revell STILL missed the boat with the corrected body. As with all of their B-body Mopars, the sides are slabby, the rear quarters are too pointy, and the rear wheel arch is wrong. It’s like the tooling designer has a lazy eye or something.

  7. Side window shape looks dang close, but the entire roof and side window are proportionally too big by just a smidge. I haven’t done the math, but I spent some time with a caliper. It’s off. Typical Revell though....killer detail, and interesting subject matter, but just a hint of that old 1/24 Monogram wacky proportion jagger still lingers. ...oh, and there’s not enough ‘hump’ in the front fender profile either. Needs just a little more ‘haunch’.
  8. Old thread, I know, but no way the '68 is better looking. '66/'67 Coronets were great looking cars....even Revell thought so. .....opinions. Mike
  9. Oh, and Bill....note that the AMT 68's trunk lid/taillight panel doesn't have the proper peak on the rear. That's a whole 'nother task! Comparison pics of one of my unbuilt Jo-Hans and a recent AMT release... Mike F.
  10. Very nice work Bill. I am currently performing a similar rework of the AMT kit in order to add a '68 RR to my collection. I have been a '68/9 Road Runner fan since the early '70s, and man was I disappointed when I first laid eyes on AMT's horrible body proportions when the kit first hit the shelves. I have owned and built quite a few of the Jo-Han '69s, and I still have a healthy stash of unbuilts on my rack. That said, I have longed for a legit '68, and I'm setting out to make that happen as we speak. Thank you for the added inspiration! Oh, and I have already built a kitbash of the Jo-Han body and trim fitted to the modded AMT interior and chassis. It was a lot of work, and I'm (mostly) happy with how it turned out. Still, I won't be happy until I conquer that horrendous AMT body! Mike F.
