  1. I have been using the scriber tool from Bare Metal Foil with great results. The biggest tip I can give is when you are first starting the line, use no pressure and just glide it through the line. Once you get it a little deeper you use a little pressure. Another thing I do is take it a few strokes one way and then switch the direction of the cut. https://www.bare-metal.com/Introduction-To-Using-Bare-Metal-Foil.html
  2. I couldn't find the original Saturn Yellow so I went with Ford's School Bus Yellow from Automotive Touchup. I just got a spray bomb and decanted it for airbrush.
  3. Got the body painted today. I will work on getting the black painted on the hood this week.
  4. I'm with you, it is a little too shiny. I used a mix of 60/40 flat/gloss because I didn't have semi gloss but I am going to head out tomorrow and get some semi. That's another good idea for air cleaner.. I will play around with it tomorrow and see what I come up with. Like I said before, it is great to have a place to come where people actually help one another out. Yeah the
  5. I'm in Pittsburge and today will be like a nice fall day. I don't think we are even going to hit 70..
  6. Thanks.. I was thinking pool noodle, but a take out container would probably work better. I tried regular window foam, but getting it to cut that small is tough. I'll have to order a PE set from Model Car Garage. Not sure how well it will go if they a really tiny pieces, but I'll give it a shot. My eyes are not what they used to be....
  7. Justed started working on a 1970 Buik GSX for my second build after a 30 year break. My first build was a 68 Roadrunner that didn't come out too great. I just want to say thanks to everyone on the forum for being so helpful. If it wasn't for everyone on here I pobably would have hand painted everything. I know this is far from great but I am trying my best.. Any insight would be great. Got the interior tub and firewall finished.. Engine painted and wired. I am not wild about the foam for the air cleaner. I used cork to make it because it was the only thing on hand. I think I am going to try the foam of a pool noodle and see if it looks better.
  8. This is right, unless your policy is specifically written for replacement value. My home insurance is written specifically for replacement value and I have never had problem on the 2 claims we had over the last 30 years. When I took insurance out for a camp I own I just took a regular policy not really thinking about it.. Last week we had a fire at our neighbors that melted our siding and when the adjuster came out the insurance company takes depriciation into the value so I ended up getting money for the siding, but it is only enough to cover the siding if I am doing the work. They claim it is because the siding was 10 years old and they take that into calculations.
  9. That is how my wife and kids see it too. I think I use modeling for a stress release. I know it is funny because of how mad you can get when things don't go right, but that is nothing compared to normal stress. There are times when the wife will ask ( aren't you going to work on something )
  10. I think the problem with that theory is the assumption that the property was yours. I am pretty sure when u our signed their Terms Of Agreement you signed away your rights to the content. All they did was destroyed their own property.
  11. Thanks Greg Wann.. Yes I am looking for just the stock hood. I am going to contact Revell tomorrow and see if they can help. I have the PE set from modelcar garage bookmarked already, I was just holding off to make sure I can get a hood.
  12. Thanks.. I'll check in there. I figured if I could find one I would build the kit, if not it will just go in the parts bin..
  13. Does anyone know a place that sells a resin hood for this kit? I got a kit from a friend, and the only thing missing is the hood..
  14. Thanks that's a great idea and I have a whole stack of those.. A little thicker than foil but less than a can..
  15. Thanks, I have my pop can to cut up tonight.. I did try the BMWF but you right it's way too thin.
  16. I was looking for the clip to secure it to the fender well.
  17. Thanks guys I am going to try both of those.. With the aluminum can I will definitely make sure not to use her scissors. I already get yelled at for using them on dumb things that aren't metal...
  18. I am just finishing up my second build in thirty years and would like to see if anyone has a suggestion for heater hose clips. I have seen some build that have clips that hold them to the body but don't know what they used.. Any help would be appreciated.
