    Hi everyone, I am looking for some help in taking photos of models. I am not a photographer at all! I also know nothing about cameras! These will be taken with a new DSLR camera that is my daughters. She also is new to taking photos, especially of models. We will have them on a white table top in an area that is very well lit. The main problem that we are having is when trying to get a good close shot of the model, part of it is in very sharp focus and part of it is very blurry. We typically take a 3/4? view from front to back and either the front or back is in focus. Is this a setting that would be on the camera? I cannot remeber what the camera is right now and I dont have it handy. We are using a tri-pod to keep it steady. Any tips, tricks or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone in advance!!

    I think these are both new kits. The pickup probably has some new retro parts and the 53 convertible is a straight re-issue of the Lindberg kit. 2 awesome kits!

    This is pretty cool! How close is the fender contours of the Pinto door to the Mustang fender? I have a couple of junk Mustangs and a junker Pinto wagon and might likr to give this a try!

    I always see modelers adding turn signal levers to there models, Why? No one uses them on the real cars!!!

    I really like the idea! The Mustang front end fit very well! A Mustang station wagon would be a really cool conversion!

    Thanks, This started out as an original 63 wagon kit that had been chopped up already when I got it! The big advantage I think was the tailgate really works for an ElCamino style build.

    Thanks guys! I really like the look with the rescribed door lines! Is that photo of the clay mockup real? I never saw that and it looks awesome! I love it. I am going to try and replicate that rear window treatment!

    I love the photos of the Nova based ElCamino! Whoever did this did a really good job, looks cool as a custom! I thought about rescribing the door lines but the main reason I didnt is because every time i try I screw it up!! I cant seen to get a clean, deep line. Its always very choppy and ends up looking worse. I did notice the door line not meeting the roof and I was going to solve that by adding a fixed quarter window similar to a mid eighties ElCamino. Any tips on scribing new door lines would be welcomed! I am trying to go for a late sixties look, something that a kid fixed up, mags, headers, dual exhaust, something for a cool street car. I was kicking around a medium blue metallic with a white roof and black interior. I also agree with the rear window being a little tall. I have a piece that is going to go on top of the back of the bed. I would also like to have chrome trim around the rear window. Anyone have any ideas for trim on the window? I was thinking of somehow trying to have the trim on the glass and that fit into the opening. That way I could bare metal the trim with the window out!

    I will try and get a pic from straight above the bed. I like the idea of a bed liner look! I am going to practice with that and see how it looks on a scrap pickup bed. Thanks for the comments, I was trying for a factory look and I agree that a lot of conversion while they look good don't really look factory. I think any factory ElCamino/Ranchero type vehicle would have a truck style tailgate with completely different quarters and taillights than a passenger car. I had doubts about using the wagon taillights and tailgate but thought it worked ok!

    Thanks for the comments! Looking at the pictures the inside of the bed looks really rough. I need to clean that up or use a cover on it! Any ideas what I could do on the inside of the bed?

    This is my first posting of a model I am working on. We are having a club build project of a "ElCamino/Ranchero" style car that was never made. I decided on this 1963 Nova wagon for this convrsion since it was already started! The front of the roof is stock Nova while the back half is 1966 ElCamino from Revell. I always have trouble with body work and I really see how bad it is when I see the other modelers work here on the forum, its always fantastic! ANy comments or suggestions concerning body work and design would be appreciated. Thanks!

    There is a lot of responses to this so it may be a repeat. I've used ZEP floor wax stripper with very good results. Its about $10 a gallon but that lasts a long time as I reuse it over and over, sometimes adding fresh to "recharge" it. I have not had any issues with the plastic being damaged or crazing.I use a bucket or tupperware container with a lid, it will evaporate. I have not tried this on resin so as always test first. Also always wear gloves and eye protection as it is fairly strong stuff! Good luck!

    I am new to the forum and just wanted to tell you that I have really enjoyed your reviews. Its great to see the kits opened up and looking at the parts! I also wanted to comment on something that I am sure has been talked about a lot. This is just my opinion but I really do not understand why Revell would invest new tooling dollars in the Scooby Doo van. I do not think that the Polar Lights kit was that great of a seller that we would need another. I bought the Polars lights kit to build with my daughter when it came out and we had fun with it, it did not spark any interest in her to build models. I do not think I will be buying any of these! I have bought some of the other Revell snap kits like the Raptor and the new Mustang and the Audi, I have nothing against snap kits as long as it is a good subject! hpiguy, I apologize if i put this comment in the wrong spot, maybe I should have started a new thread. Again I think it was a great review!!!

    Three Rivers Automodelers 39th annual model show and contest! We have a new show location for 2017!! This years show will be held at the Garden City Fire Hall 602 Garden City Drive, Monroeville PA 15146. Show date is SUNDAY, September 24th 2017. 9 AM until 3 PM! Admission is $5.00, children under 12 free with a paid adult. Floor rights are $13.00 at 8 AM!! Contest registration is $2.00 per model!! We have 18 model classes. Our theme for the 2017 show is "Imports" I will be posting more information and pictures, Our show will be returning to Castle Shannon fire hall for 2018. More information will follow!

    Another good paint stripper that I use is ZEP floor wax stripper that you can get at Home Depot for around $10 a gallon. Soak the body in it and it usually de-bonds (if thats a word!) the paint from the body. I have had no issues with plastic damage. I have not used this on resin parts so as always test before using! Also wear gloves! I saw that you have already stripped your project but I just wanted to share this!

    I had purchased the Baldwin Chevelle because the box listed it as 1/25. I thought that was a new tool. Is it the Monogram 1/24 kit with some new parts? I dont have a 1/24 Chevelle kit to compare it too. Thanks!

    Hi, I just joined the forum, I live in Pittsburgh PA and mainly build/collect (mainly collect!!)1/25 scale cars along with some aircraft. I really enjoy the kit reviews on the forum and looking at built ups, they always get a bunch of ideas! Phil
