Three Rivers Automodelers 39th annual show and contest
fordf-100 replied to fordf-100's topic in Contests and Shows
The show and contest were a few weeks ago but I finally have the time to post some pictures from the show. The show went really well with a good crowd through all day, we had about 198 models in the contest and almost 300 people through the doors! Here are some pics of the vendors and contest tables. I am going to send the photos of the individual models into the magazines then I may post some more here!- 15 replies

My version of Chevys should be 1963 ElCamino!

I had not checked this post for awhile, thanks for posting the pictures of your drawings and the concept drawings! I really like the 66/67 Nova conversion, I think that could be done in model form using a Flintstone sedan delivery maybe? -

I fanally got some paint on this! The interior is just about finished. I need to get some clear on it and polishing to get the shine up! What do you guys think of the color combo? I wanted something that looked like it was done in the late 60's. Does anyone know of a source for outside door handles without buying another kit? If all else fails I guess I could try and cast some up. -

The deadline for entering the contest is 12:00. The announcing should start around 2:00 or 2:30 and the show is over at 3:00! The tables are almost sold out so we should have lots of stuff to look at and buy!! I will be posting some photos after the show also. Hope to see you there! Phil- 15 replies

My version of Chevys should be 1963 ElCamino!
fordf-100 replied to fordf-100's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Love the old Aurora stuff! Always looking for cars! I did some work on my El Camino project, I rescribed the door lines and fitted a back window. I used the Molotow chrome pen to re-do the front end chrome. I am going to paint the grille stainless with a black wash, I used the pen on the bumper and the upper grille surround and around the headlights. Not sure if I should drill out the lights and replace with clear lenses, would rather try and "clear" over them. Any ideas? Also its amazing how a close up photo with a phone camera makes by body work look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH! -

Also if you are interested in entering our contest please visit our website www.threeriversautomodelers.net for a printable contest entry form, that way all your entry forms are already filled out and you can start shopping faster!!. These will also be available at the entry table. We also take photos of the contest entries and submit them to the magazine's contest issues and hopefully they will make it in! We have had our contest featured several times in the past!!- 15 replies

Here is a copy of the show flyer for 2017 showing our classes and our special theme class "IMPORTS". This could be anything from a tuner to factory stockto a drag car as long as its an import. This would include British, European, Japanese Etc.....- 15 replies

Thanks again everyone! I have a lot of tips to try out!!
-
Awesome models!
-
Great photos! Thanks for the tips + I love the track roadster! What nose/grille did you use? It almost looks like the old Monogram indy car, or is it scratch built?
-
I will try your tips tonight! Thanks again for the help!

Hi everyone, I am looking for some help in taking photos of models. I am not a photographer at all! I also know nothing about cameras! These will be taken with a new DSLR camera that is my daughters. She also is new to taking photos, especially of models. We will have them on a white table top in an area that is very well lit. The main problem that we are having is when trying to get a good close shot of the model, part of it is in very sharp focus and part of it is very blurry. We typically take a 3/4? view from front to back and either the front or back is in focus. Is this a setting that would be on the camera? I cannot remeber what the camera is right now and I dont have it handy. We are using a tri-pod to keep it steady. Any tips, tricks or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone in advance!!

I think these are both new kits. The pickup probably has some new retro parts and the 53 convertible is a straight re-issue of the Lindberg kit. 2 awesome kits!
-
This is pretty cool! How close is the fender contours of the Pinto door to the Mustang fender? I have a couple of junk Mustangs and a junker Pinto wagon and might likr to give this a try!
-
Thats awesome! I have always liked the gasser style street machines! If you gat a chance please post some pictures of the chassis and engine!
-
I always see modelers adding turn signal levers to there models, Why? No one uses them on the real cars!!!
-
I really like the idea! The Mustang front end fit very well! A Mustang station wagon would be a really cool conversion!

Thanks, This started out as an original 63 wagon kit that had been chopped up already when I got it! The big advantage I think was the tailgate really works for an ElCamino style build. -

I could not open the photos for the Ranchero, I would really like to see that as I think that would be an awesome conversion!
