  1. That looks great! Would this conversion also work on a 65 and 66 or are they different?
  2. Try looking on ebay for a seller BCS trading. He sells assembled items and I think he has some wrecker bodies. I am not sure what they are or what era they are but they are reasonable and are very nice. I bought a 1 ton dump body for $34.99 and it was really nice! I think he also has an ebay store under the same name.
  3. Finally got some time on my dump truck! I painted the dump bed from BCS trading with no problems, a little light sanding was about all the prep work I did and also got some paint on it. I have a question about the forum, this thread started out as a question for a resin dump bed, I found a dump bed and have been working on the truck, should I move this to the truck workbench section? If so how? Or should I start another thread there?
  4. I love getting models as gifts! I always have a pre written list of new/current kits that I would like to have and just hand it to my wife or daughter and tell them to " surprise me"!
  5. I ike to build with paint details and maybe some scratch building as the mood strikes, but most of all I build for the fun of it! I'm not really that worried that my engine isnt wired or I might be missing some underhood details. I try to get a clean build with nice paint and nice chrome work. Its all about the fun!
  6. Looks perfect to me! Awesome job and a pretty cool idea!
  7. Awesome flame job!!!!!
  8. That looks awesome! I agree this is easily the best looking build of that kit! I think I got rid af all my 56 Monogram kits but now I might have to get one again!!!
  9. Looks awesome! Never saw one with the side chrome removed.... looks great, really like that look!
  10. Cool project, I have wanted to do this for awhile, will be watching! Looks good so far!!!
  11. Yes the tail lights need work. The head lights also need some work, I think maybe a little larger. What would be a good donor chassis? The new revell cuda?
  12. Thanks for the info! I thought my built up was an original MPC! I didn't think Lindberg/ Palmer did this kind of stuff back then, although maybe it's not that old just really dirty! That would explain some of the really generic stuff. I think it could still be workable.....maybe!!!
  13. I just got back from Ollies with a couple of goodies! One was the 1972 Challenger from Lindberg. I have always stayed away from this cause it looks pretty bad on the box. I think it was on the forum here somewhere that I read this was actually the MPC tool. With that in mind I picked one up and compared it to my original built kit. This is probably old news but they sure look the same to me! I think it could be a nice looking model with a little work. Check out the pics and let me know what you think!
  14. Awesome! Fantastic job on the weathering and dents! Looks perfect!!
  15. If your ever interested in attending one of our club meetings pm me ! We meet once a month on the second Monday 7:00 to 9:00 by the county airport !
  16. Sorry I didn't get any pictures. Some good deals were there. What kind of stuff do you build?
  17. Turberticus did you end up making it to the swap meet? I was set up there. This was our clubs first attempt at this and we had 26 tables with 13 vendors, which considering it was the first isn't all that bad! I actually did very well selling and did way better than I expected! I also got a couple of good kits and built ups for pretty reasonable prices!
  18. One thing I really wanted to do with this is try darkening the panel lines I think it would really help the look. I have never done this, you guys have any suggestions on what to use?
  19. Great looking build!
  20. Thanks for the comments! I think this was painted by someone, looked like it was originally red. The body was also twisted and you can still see it just doesnt "sit right" . The rear bumper just had 1970 on it. I have a couple other promos of this that are beat up and I might have to dig them out and check and see what is on there rear bumpers, I didnt know any were different! I always try and pick these up at shows and stuff, you dont see the kit around too often anymore, I wouldnt mind seeing this come back out!
  21. I picked this up at a local show for $15. It was painted silver and I assembled and missing a couple parts. I polished it up put some BMF on it, did a little detail painting a set of custom wheels from Steve Zimmerman? Could be wrong on that, memory ain't what it used to be! Didn't Come out too bad! Comments always welcome!
  22. Great color and a beautiful job, looks great!!!!
  23. Thanks for the tips on the tank and exhaust , l looked a little bit on the internet but I just searched ford 1 ton dump and didn't get any great shots of what I was looking for, I'll try a more specific search. I'm going to put on mud flaps, I was trying to think of what to use so the looked like slightly flexible rubber like a real flap, thought about trying to find some thin rubber but I also want to either decal or paint something on the flaps like Ford or a company that makes dump bodies!! Any ideas?
  24. A couple of mock up pics. I moved the rear wheels back a little, looking at some trucks from this era the rear wheels seemed further back than the stock location. I also slightly raised the front and rear suspension. I have been looking to see where the gas tank would be on a truck like this, any ideas? Would they have the stock pickup tank in the stock location? Also I was wondering about the exhaust, I think it exits before the rear tires, not sure though. Comments welcome!
  25. That is looking really good! Nice job!
