  1. HOME RUN!!! Love the angles !! you have some beauties today Virgil!.....The controlled burn is a great idea!
  2. Well it's final the lowered look won out..(almost 2 to 1! )....although it was split between slammed and in the middle. I think it will be in the middle....now for some go fast...Thanks for all your input!
  3. In Black gives off a Vulture Vibe.....
  4. A quick search said check the UK
  5. I thought that was from the Goodyear Blimp.....
  6. OR for only $23,500. you could get a 300 SL gullwing Love this Cobra.....
  7. Pete ..its a steal at $42k....its listed for $46,500. 1/5 1928 Mercedes SSK "Speziale". An incredibly complex and large scratchbuilt model made almost entirely from metal from around 4200 (!!) pieces. The body is brass over a wooden frame, just like the real car. It features full engine detail, wired dashboard, wooden running boards, a scale toolkit -nothing is missing on this spectacular museum quality model. A special edition of just 8 have been built for our shop. Each one is being constructed differently (paint, leather, engine colors, options) and will be unique and a one-off. These measure 35" long and weigh about 40lbs. Enquire for more pix and further details. The standard SSK, SSK Touring and SSK Saoutchik are available as well, enquire. $46,500.00
  8. No big need. Notice the list of kits...all current production...Thats how they figure the age...And the panel of judges know their way around the sprue .
  9. Excellent idea! I usually set a ruler on my first shot if I do not have a background set....Doc....think of this on the first two shots....see how your shooting like your 12 feet tall...?
  10. Virgil...this is the one...notice how your edges run into each other without a seam? You did this with a LOW camera angle. In the first two if you look to the left of the "orange arm" see how its sharp...then not? ditto behind the van...thats your edge. Look in your VF and lower the camera (tripod) until you don't see the edge. same with the left side, as you lower the camera your view or angle will change and take care of it.
  11. EXCELLENT ROGER !!! I many times shoot with my butt on the ground. This gives me my "3yr olds view" I have also learned that the "plane" the lens axis is on will contribute many differences in the finished look. As little as a 5 degree shift, along with the compression of the lens can make a major difference! I tend to look at most auto studio shots and try to set up the camera position..it can be a lot tougher than your lighting..and then throw in natural light and clouds moving.....OH what fun !
  12. Linen white and clear duplacolor the spear is the kit decal in black....bare plastic looked poor
  13. I buy it 6 cans at a time...a favorite base for HOK kandys. If it is cold and too close you might get that, and it it shrinks with a dehydrator sounds like way too much bu why?
  14. I'm sorry...May she watch over you and yours forever.
  15. Or make them both happy....Put the WIP in TRUCKS and the finished truck in UNDER GLASS....
  16. First question is enamel or lacquer second is has it been cleared? I agree with sanding with lacquers or acryllics repainting and blending if enamel or cleared.... If its Enamel give a shout out to old Man Donny Yost....goes as "lone wolf 15" HE is the enamel expert I think he could answer that.
  17. Not sure if I am a good enough resource to answer all of this but I am trying my best . I am sure that the single most important thing you must have is good lighting. I have said for years that you can deal with too much than not enough...
  18. Nope we used Polaroid backs for test shots......then got out the chromes I still have my Flash Meter....never had to guess on exposure even when adding or subtracting heads.
  19. I would of said to shoot a coat of dullkote over the chrome....metalizers with sealer will give the same look.
  20. Try it on some spoons.....
  21. Lots of different ways....Solid or independent suspension will make a difference. What do you want to lower..?? A look through my photobucket show many examples, and a few WIP pictures....look and ask! Click on my name and you will get there.
  22. Photobucket or Fokti. Get a free account and then you will not have to post attachments. I upload 11 x 14 inch photos and when posted here the board will auto size them...BUT not as attachments. Here Gregg shows you how....... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52417&view=findpost&p=595679
  23. So decant them young man...unless the paint is solid, you can get that paint out.
  24. Light....You can learn it....though it takes years to understand it....If you want to learn lighting, set up some crystal and a number of different backgrounds....I shot over 500 negatives years ago, the way the light falls, fills, and shows details is the key...now with digital....lot less expense and also quicker. Photoshop can pull details out of under and over exposed images...in fact HDR images use all modes combined....almost like the "Zone System" in old B&W days....full tonal range.
