Well done... ...but an Arias instead of a 429 or SOHC ?
-
It sprays almost as good as Tamiya right out of the can.....It is a breeze to decant. I use all the types, primer through clear...over Tamiya, MM, and HOK
-
Ford used all sorts of colors....yellow for example on the 56 f100.....the 292 used red:

First thought is HOK Kandy Rootbeer or Kandy Tangerine.... . You might try a mix of Tamiya clear orange with some smoke...use it sparingly to darken Not sure what chrome paint is..Alclad ??? and thats all of my thoughts!!

Really not a lot to show for all the time spent, but the little things do count..like the hood...gaps were awful, now there just bad but a lot better. The suspension on these 60s cruisers just scream to be lowered and freshened with tasteful wheels and tires. The wheels I'm using (again) are from Pegasis and box wise they claim to be 23" and 19" while scalewise they work out to 20" and 17"..to me just right. The tires in the rear are not stock but aftermarket. The front are stock low profile Pegasis. I really did try tires similar to the rear...but looked too darn fat ..so went with these...little too skinny:o .... I have everything in primer now, motor is assembled and painted, getting ready for colors now....it will be different, but tastefully gaudy More to come...................................... This is my buddys '56 Hot Rod Olds.....Stock, lowered ( no air bags ) wheels and tires ....

Tamiya "Mica" Paints

Great advice. The white will make it explode vs grey primer. This has a little gold flake in the clear -

Kris hit it well..only other thought is if your using the new testors lacquers...decant them...they can be way too thick..warm or not...Inca Gold gives me the most troubles....Diamond Dust works great....

Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers

It removes all liquid carriers, lacquer, enamel, water. Dry is dry...this speeds things up for those of us that cannot wait a week!!! -
I like using a Tamiya spray cap to hold micro brushes and makes tenax almost spillproof.....you still have to cap it though..

Hey Vato Locos :P :o But its low Mon.....Yep but its gonna be Phat...348 motivation....I think the colors planned will work....,started the motor after getting the ride mocked up. Thanks to Tonio for the wheel swap...love the rear sidewalls and I even tried taller tires in the front > > no way...I think this will work. I lowered the rear springs by 1 coil and used the custom front spindles, cut off for wheel clearance....and cut off the spare tire well in the chassis, filled it in....

And the details...tailpipe, mirror, and that turn signal on the front fender ?? and missing things....model

I am a big future fan. That said I never have had luck (skill) in tinting future with tamiya acrylics. I will say that the risk in trying it is minor as future can be removed with windex. When I tried the last time I mixed things in an epoxy cup. I started with 20 ml future and added tamiya smoke drop by drop. What I found is tamiya acrylics tend to curdle in the future and never seem to blend correctly. I since have gone to 1:1 window film tint and it works great! This is Swanny's take on tinting........ You can mix Future with Model Master Acrylic paints and add 20% to 25% of matt clear to obtain a realistic semi-gloss finish. Using Future as a "mixer" for acrylic paints will help them airbrush better, increase the durability of the paint to resist damage, and if you use enough Future, the resulting finish may not need to be gloss coated prior to decaling. It has been successfully used with Polly Scale, Model Master, Gunze Sangyo, and Mister Kit acrylic paints. Results have been poor when mixing Future with Tamiya acrylics and I do not recommend it. Usually around 25% Future to 75% paint will give good results but depending on your project you may want to add a little more Future. For example, if you are doing a fade/blending coat, you might add 80% Future to make a "translucent" paint. If you screw up the application you can remove the dried Future with Windex, Windolene or simply let it soak in a cup of Future overnight. It is important that the clear parts are clean and free of wax or oils (such as your finger print) prior to application otherwise these contaminants will repel the Future and give unsatisfactory results in the end.
