  1. Chas, samding a primer is a no-no, I've seen many people have issues doing that, especially if they apply any kind of masking. The paint will lift if you sand the primer and mask it off for a second color/graphic/etc. And yes, I've had people say they've done it and didn't have a problem...well, you got lucky, and sooner or later (Usually on your best paint job ever), it'll bite you. Primer is supposed to be rough, it gives the paint something to bite into. If you're smoothing it out, well, you might as well paint the bare plastic. Chris, spray a couple of light mist coats (Not fully covering any area) until you have full coverage, giving the paint a bit of time to "flash" between mist coats. Once you've got full coverage, lay down a couple of light wet coats. Let those flash, and determine if you need more paint. Once the paint has fully cured (Usually 2-5 days depending on the type of paint you used), then you can do some color sanding if needed.
  2. Now this should be a good one, I'm waiting for more updates!
  3. Welcome to the site Adam, and a great way to introduce yourself, that is one pretty Daytona, great work, and a great job on the write-up to go along with the build!
  4. Here ya go Don, first up is the chrome from the Vicky... And the Roadster... The Roaster came with this decal sheet, and a piece of paper with instructions for the whitewalls, but no whitewall stickers.
  5. Thanks Deron, I'm very happy with it, and it's perfect for what we do! If I had a picture of it now, you'd see it looks like any other builder's area, way too much stuff on the table top, and tons of things screwed to both doors and any other vertical surface I could put a hook in. If you can find one for yourself, I highly recommend them!
  6. Daniel, that would explain the piece of paper that was inside the bottom of each box then, I was thinking they were some kind of promo too!
  7. Richard, I went from a TV tray to the coffee table, and finally lucked out and picked up a computer armoire at a used furniture store for $150.00, the best money I've ever spent! I spent about a day making it work for me, adding hooks to the doors and sides for parts and tools, adding a removable photo-booth on the left hand side, and putting a pair of light fixtures in it. Now when I'm done working, I just close the doors and my mess is hidden from view, making Pam happy, and giving me a permanent work-space!
  8. Let's see how obscure these two are, I've never seen AMT's '32 Fords in boxes like these...
  9. I picked up a pair of real gems today from Mike at Hayes Hobby House, prepare to start drooling!   Both are VINTAGE AMT '32 Fords, in a box design I've never seen before. The Vicky has the grille glued into the shell, and the 427 is mostly built. There's some damage from the tires on a few parts, but nothing major on this one... Here's the '32 Roadster, it's got no parts glued together, but the grille shell and the hood have tire damage...I'm still happy I got 'em!
  10. No Beau, thank you for doing such a great job, and hurry up and start another one!
  11. Chuck's onto something, Beau is doing great for his age! My models at 8 years old were misshapen blobs of glued plastic that may have been parts at some paint, and paint with brush strokes in it! Take a bow Beau, you've done a great job, what's next for the little guy?
  12. Kevin, that is awesome! There's nothing I don't like about it, and nothing I'd change, it looks like a lot of cars i saw in High School! Great work!
  13. I've been talking to a few 1:1 Javelin owners on the various AMC Forums, and they're trying to find me the pics I want of the chassis and suspension so i can finally build one that's close to accurate, as soon as I get some pics, I'll definitely start a WIP on it!
  14. Oh come on Alyn, don't wimp out, make the brakes too!
  15. Unreal Bill, that is gorgeous! Keep it up, I'll just send all my kits off to you so you can work your magic on 'em!
  16. I can't get past the color, it's perfect for this car!
  17. Great job Adam, that paint is beautiful! One of the most under-rated and unappreciated Muscle Cars out there, the Skylarks were some really mean machines!
  18. Austin, I'm not letting those babies go, I'm a '73/'74 Javelin hoarder, I love that car! If I could ever get the reference pics I want , I'll tackle correcting the horrible chassis and building a few of 'em myself!
  19. I like the rim change Bill, it give it a different look. The paint looks great, and i'm waiting for the update with the dash completed, I'm sure it's going to be a stunner!
  20. John, that is the best I've ever seen this kit done, take a huge bow, you really earned it! The Rodder's Journal version is great too, I think I like it more, but I'm weird!
  21. Nothing wrong with a C4 Tomo, some people are just heathens! Yes, the hood is a pain to get to fit properly, I don't think I've ever seen on that didn't have an issue, maybe you can figure it out!
  22. I give up...between you and Bill, I'm never gonna get past the "playing with plastic" stage! You are doing unbelievable work buddy, that linkage and steering assembly is great, but the hand brake? Did you really have to do that, you're killing me man!
  23. The original Mustang Concept maybe? I don't know, all I know is it looks good! More pics please!
  24. A day or two late, but I hope you had a great birthday Gregg!
  25. I'm not sure how obsucre this one is, but it surprised me when I got it. AMT apparently used the Jo-Han tooling for the Jo-Han '73 Javelin kit, because the AMT '74 Javelin is IDENTICAL to the Jo-han with the exception of the tail light panel, Ignore the Matador kit in the picture, i picked it up along with the AMT Javelin, The Jo-Han kit is the Red one, the AMT is in White.
