  1. That's a shame Pat. Maybe dig up a Cooper or a Fiat 500 kit to stay with the theme your already on?
  2. Dave I think the Rambler would be an excellent choice.
  3. I've got a riced out Pacer in the works for the Cannonball, and the other.....................................ugh. Outside comfort zone I'm okay with but not outside the realm of good taste. I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe something non-auto.
  4. Whoa, there was one I knew. Affair of the Heart by Rick Springfield.
  5. Yawn. Same old, same old. I wish just for once you'd build something different. I'm kidding of course. I'm so very glad that guys like you and John T. are around to show us that "out of the box" is only the start of how far you can go in scale modeling. Fantastic work.
  6. Hmm.......................I do such a variety of stuff that I'm not sure what would be outside my comfort zone. That's not bragging, just an observation. If anyone has the time, maybe look through my album and make a suggestion?
  7. Okay. I'll take a trip out to a local place this weekend. Thanks guys.
  8. Nope. We've seen your work. I have faith you'll pull it off. I'm going to go with some light tint. I'm going to combine that with a very tight-to-the-roof roll cage, to make the roll cage less noticeable. Going super dark would be, as you pointed out, counter productive. After the Cannonball, the car will be repainted and have a wheel change and made into a drift car. I'm looking forward to entering a Pacer into the tuner category at contests afterward, so a roll cage is a must have.
  9. Thanks Steve. I'll look for it in my LHS. Thanks to everyone for their advice. Much appreciated.
  10. Has anyone come up with a way of doing good RELIABLE tint grey windows? I have heard bad things about the Tamiya smoke.
  11. Yep. What he said.
  12. Well if you really want to see the most screwed up model in modeling history I could try working with my left hand. But frankly, the darn thing isn't good for anything.
  13. Yeah that mod is on the forefront of my mind with my Pacer. With all that glass, how am I gonna hide that roll cage? Like I did with my Studebaker, changing my Cannonballer into a Carrera Panamericana racer, the way the Pacer looks for the Cannonball will not be it's final form. I need the roll cage. It's going to have to be the tightest cage I've ever done. EDIT: I've got it. Tinted windows.
  14. OUTSTANDING! Growing up on Long Island in the 70's I would see many Beetles beginning to rust out just like that. Very authentic.
  15. Reed its great to see a young person get involved in modeling. There are fewer every year. We have a good group of builders here and many that are into imports. I hope you enjoy the hobby and this forum. Welcome.
  16. Absolutely. I'd try either the Testors One Shot Lacquers or Model Master Lacquers. I would hope your local hobby stores would carry them. Tamiya also makes an excellent spray paint. I'd stay away from the old Testors/Model Master enamels. Be patient with your first attempts at spray painting. There are paint removers now that can help you if you need to clean the slate, so to speak, but I'm not sure whats available in the UK, so maybe one of our other members from your neighborhood can help you there.
  17. Welcome. Your brother was an excellent addition to our Cannonball CBP last year and we're looking forward to seeing your work,
  18. Great work. It looks very authentic. The diamond pleat interior is a real nice touch.
  19. That .............................................. is really amazing.
  20. No I'm sure he was using it in a more positive aspect. Because to do otherwise would be rude, offensive and inappropriate for these forums. a : happily excited : merry <in a gay mood> b : keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits <a bird's gay spring song> 2 a : bright, lively <gay sunny meadows> b : brilliant in color
  21. It is a wonderful thing when someone takes something to the skill level where their work becomes art. Whether it is driving, throwing a baseball, or welding. It is a thing of beauty.
  22. Who cares if people complain? From Gregg's standpoint, he just needs to provide a forum. He shouldn't be trying to make it perfect for everyone. It's a losing battle. No one is going to abandon ship just because they have skip over threads in the Under Glass section.
  23. What would be so wrong with the following? Why even have separate categories? If you get to a post your not interested in, move along. Adding more categories is gonna tick someone off because their 6 wheeled swamp buggy doesn't have a category. Best to have just one. We can call it Scale Vehicles. 24. That is VERY well done. Excellent work.
  25. Used railroad dry transfers for the door art on this '34. No issues, flat clear over them. Standard waterslide pinstripes top and bottom.
