  1. Some of the early incarnations of the MPC 66 & 67 Chargers. The one with the glass hood and hilborne injection set-up most of all.
  2. I was kind of disappointed that Pat didn't get involved in the voting poll. It's not the most stealthy of racers but it sure was well done.
  3. AMT '50 Ford convertible with all the custom parts.
  4. We had a lot of great builds this year. Very likely our best year yet speaking from a quality standpoint. As usual Zenrat had something completely unexpected and showed why he's won this thing twice. Niko's Daytona is something I'd LOVE to drive, it looks like an incredible machine. Dom's Mercedes is the only liveried race car to ever get into the finals (I believe). Most Cannonballers are more "understated" and voters expect that. It's a testament to the quality of the build that voters overlooked it. Lunajammer's Torino had a great design and paint and TFChronos' paint work was top notch on both his entries. Many other builds worthy of mention as well. I'm SO looking forward to next year. It will be my only priority for 2015 because it's something that's been on my drawing board for several years and I now have the perfect kit for it. Just like I did a couple years back, with my '53 Studebaker, it'll be build one way for the Cannonball, and then changed a bit for contest competition (Cannonballer to Carrera Panamericana rally car). Get ready to build guys. Buy some new Zap-a-gap, get some new paint, restock the tubing and sheet styrene. And above all, really put some imagination into this one. Only the best ideas combined with quality execution are going to win this one. I'm going to also touch base with Gregg and his webmaster and see about fixing the poll function to allow unlimited entries in a single function so there are no more debacles. On your mark ...................................................... get set..........................................
  5. I recommend buying direct from the company. Their website is easy to use.
  6. As we've discussed and Wagonmaster has agreed, there will be NO RESTRICTIONS ON TECH OR YEAR/MAKE/MODEL. Whatever you want to use, you can use. Wheels will be up to your whim, after all how many times have you seen $1000 in wheels on a $500 car? The more dated and tacky, odd, whatever, the better.
  7. Guys , since TFChronos and Zenrat have bowed out, and Dominik is on record in this thread to acknowledge Erik as winner (and I can't get a hold of him either to verify his thoughts), I've spoken with Niko. With only two entrants, Niko has decided not to ask for a second poll. So Erik is the winner. I'm sorry if this isn't the way you wanted to win Erik, but it is what it is. If we hadn't lost everything in the server move, we probably would have been fine. Congratulations Erik, your Riv definitely deserved the win. Check it out here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96488
  8. And his amazing 1966 Buick Riviera!! Please join us for the 2015 Cannonball CBP, going on eight years now folks. The theme for next year is sleepers, with no year or tech restrictions. Should be fun.
  9. Very nice work on both models. I like the whole concept.
  10. Dominik, I really need to hear from you so we can put this CBP to bed. Please check your PM's and contact me.
  11. I'd check with some of the decal aftermarket vendors like Kieth Marks. He may already have livery for that car.
  12. Very nicely done. I finished one of those recently too. Excellent stance and colors.
  13. Looking forward to watching this. I'm sure to get some great ideas. Keep it going.
  14. I compete in local model contests. Occasionally I display a model on a mirror. If you make something visible to a judge you will be judged on it. And just like mold lines, or ejector pin marks, having those engravings still on the chassis of the model, is a strike against you. I remove them as a general rule on every model I build. I do not sign my work. I've thought about it, but never seem to remember when I build the model.
  15. Quite right. I figure they fall into two categories. 1. Take a car that is not normally considered fast. Make it fast without altering its appearance that might let on that it's fast. 2. If the car IS normally thought of as fast, it should be in such poor condition/appearance, that no one would give it a second glance. There are a LOT of options here. I encourage everyone to leave the old speedy standbys alone and look for something foreign, dated, small, and odd. Really put some imagination into this. A weathered '68 Charger won't be fooling anyone.
  16. Okay then. Dominik, you've got mail. Please contact me via PM.
  17. Very clean work. I like it a lot.
  18. To my knowledge, he does plan to run it. If he can't find the time during the year for whatever reason, I'll help out again.
  19. I would try polishing it with a variety of fine sanding cloths and rub it out with some compound.
  20. Jon, I see your point. However Niko IS a finalist and if he wants a finals poll then I will make it happen. We had already planned for a second poll, its no skin off my nose to provide one. I don't want anyone to feel they didn't get a fair shake. We have a great group of builders on the CBP, and I want that to continue. I appreciate the team spirit here and the support for your fellow builders. So with not further discussion on the matter, would the five finalists please provide me with a link to their pics please? I will get a finals poll up this weekend. That should give the forums IT folks a few days to get things in order.
  21. Very well. If we are unable to restore the old data in a timely fashion I will create a finals poll. I need all four finalists to provide a link in this thread to the photos of their racer and I will attach photos in the poll thread.
  22. That's a excellent point. Erik has such a lead on everyone, I think another poll would be a moot point. Any nay sayers?
  23. I think that may be the way to go. Jon please list the top four as you remember them.
