  1. Jairus, I've often thought about doing a twin-mill type thing. If you do try this, you would be a fool not to get someone to cast a mold before you finish it. I know that I would would a resin copy and I'm sure I'm not alone. Great work going on here, keep it going!

Looks like she could use some dusting and polish, but it looks like good work. Well done.
  3. Guys thanks very much for the ataboys. I appreciate it. Roger, the chrome reversed wheels came with this kit. It is unfortunate that none of the Lindberg releases have come with these wheels.
  4. Looks great Jim. Make sure you bring it to Jaxcon next year.
  5. I used a Illinios license plate on the trailer I built for this so I just did the same thing for this so they matched. I honestly didn't even think of using the AZ plate. I'm sorta disappointed with myself for for forgetting it.
  6. Yeah, I didn't think of that.
  7. All done. Check the thread in the Under Glass section.
  8. I finished this today. One last detail to add is a sign that will go on the stake sides that will say "L&R Original Parts Rescue". I'll knock that out tomorrow. The kit was a vintage AMT 34 kit (thanks Clay) with the Ardun flattie from the Revell Ford F-1. The bed is balsa and the rest of the wood parts are basswood. The mexican blacket is scratch made and the cab has a 4.5 scale inch chop. This will be mated with the trailer that I built earlier in the year, which will be filled with all sorts of great vintage salvaged junk. Enough talk - on to the pics. Comments and critiques are kindly welcome.
  9. My favorite muscle car of all time and one of the nicest build ups of one I have ever seen. Well done.
  10. I don't think anyone here thinks that box stock models are beneath them. In a lot of ways they can be more challenging depending on the kit. A lot of us kit-bash to correct a bad looking engine or scratch build a part because the kit unit looks like crud. For me it's my artistic nature that just HAS to put it's own spin on things. I need to be original. If something has been done by someone else, I'm generally not interested in building one. I will take ideas off of it, I may even build one similarly but I will make it my own. Box stock is like that to me. I've always felt.....it's been done. What would differentiate this orange Nova to my orange Nova if I haven't done something to make it stand out. And I think a vast majority of builders feel similarly.
  11. Yep, what he said. For most of us a roll cage is just some Evergreen or Plastruct tubing. In most cases, what model kits include as roll cages (for non-race cars) in no way resembles what a real builder would put in his car. So scratching one is your best bet and good experience for more scratch building down the line.
  12. I'm a solid #4, with a smattering of #2 & #3.
  13. I seem to remember someone had one. But I see a muffin fan in back there, ah check this disclaimer out that I found on the companys website. "•Please do not use this spray booth with hazardous materials, flammable or explosive paints or materials." http://www.yescomusa.com/product.php?productid=1532&page=1 So it looks like you will be limited to acrylics only with this one, for the sake of safety.
  14. Looking fantastic Wayne. Can't wait to see it.
  15. I have decided to do some classic shop truck door art instead of the flames. As for you Dodge question, I've no idea. I'd start another thread and ask folks who have build that one already.
  16. Okay first off. It's fantastic work. Great paint and execution. Second, I gotta ask why the wicked camber? I did some Googling, this doesn't appear to be a racing trend like drifting, but just a custom trend. I can't imagine a set of tires would last long or the car be particularly stable or handle well. Reminds me of the trend back in the 90's where folks wer pushing little 14" wheels/tires outside the wheel wells of their lil cars. Any info you can pass along would be helping me wrap my brain around this.
  17. Bandit, the checker board is a home made decal, that was done by persons unknown to me. I got them in a trade, from someone who got them in a trade. Disco, by all means get some better lighting and also make sure you are using the macro setting. It is designated by a small flower symbol on most cameras.
  18. Last pics before she's under glass. Critiques welcome.
  19. Aaron, what are you taking photos with? Camera phone or..........? And you need to find a way to get more light on your subject. Take it outside or something. I've seen a lot of bad pics from you now it's real hard to see the quality of your work.
  20. Serously. Great planning and execution. It looks great. I hope we won't have to wait too long for your next creation.
  21. On the other mag forum there is a Overhaulin' CBP (failed though I think) where the idea is to "overhaul" an old build.
  22. Another update. Firewall smoothed and decaled. Hood is BMF'd and then roughed for a bare metal look. Stein shifter top from the Beer Wagon. And the color of the grill surround is what this model will be done in with flames done in flat black and silver.
  23. Yep, what he said. I use all the flat, satins and silver/metalic colors. Most gloss paints I use are Duplicolor or MM lacquers. These were all painted in Krylon flats or satins.
  24. According to Internet Movie Car Database, it's a 75 Chevy Sport van. http://www.imcdb.org/movie_74923-Mother,-Jugs-and-Speed.html More info here. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074923/board/nest/103292245 Buy the movie, you won't regret it.
  25. Thanks guys, I feels great to be remembered in this crowd.
