Nice work going on there. I dig vintage box art builds and have a few in the works myself. Keep us posted on this one. Looking forward to seeing it progress.

Hi all, here's my latest project. I've been on a GTO kick lately and I had this krazy idea I wanted to try. I always liked the looks of the Monkey Mobile except for the goofy phaeton roof so out came the saws, super glue, Evercoat and sandpaper. It'll be a simple build, not much detail, just going for the look. How it began: Here's how it looks today with more body work, stance and wheel choice set: I used the chassis and interior tub from the '67 kit. Wheels are from a Raider's Coach kit and tires are from the parts box. Not sure of a color yet but I'm thinking metal flake red? What ya'll think? Thanks for taking a look. Comments, suggestions and ideas welcome!

Hi all, I haven't posted anything new here in while so here's what I've been working on. It took a lot longer than it should have. I struggled with some paint and fit problems as well as a really bad sheet of BMF . It's the old Monogram tool, done up in a "year two" style. This is the car I always had invisioned whenever I heard the Ronny and the Daytonas song. A little rough around the edges but I'm glad to be done with it. Comments welcome !

Beautiful GTO build. Perfect color choices. I like this one a lot.

Thanks all for your postive comments on this build! After taking a few days off this project for the Christmas holiday and to get my eyes seeing straight again after the BMFing, I decided to get the glass done. I sprayed a tint strip on the windshield and dipped everything in tinted future. After everything dries I get it all epoxied in and add some period speed equipment decals to the quarter windows.
-
I got it BMF'd today and I added a period racing/rally stripe. This may look goofy to some of you but these were the sh*t back in the mid 60's

Great start on your Buick Don! Outstanding interior details considering what you had to work with. Good choice of subject too. You don't see these "gentleman's" musclecars built up too often. Where are you going to source the Nailhead from?

Thanks Don. Just a piece of phone wire stripped at the end and curled around a needle to get the pull handle. You can see it better in this shot.

Here's what I've been working on lately. It should be my last build of 2008. I hope to have it finished by the end of this week. I'm going for a 1965 sort of look, a little fixed up for the street. I got the interior finished up this morning. I'm having a lot of fun with this one. When ever I hear the Ronny and The Daytona's classic song this is the car I've always imagined

Looks great Bob! I'm diggin' that shimmerin green paint, not to mention kustomizing a mint rare collectible kit. That's way kool. Yeah, I like this one a lot! -
Beautiful piece of work and crafstmanship there! I agree completely with your description of the era these type of cars came from. Well done

Lookin good Raul, Beautiful paint and nice restomod elements. Well done!

Thanks for your input on this one Jarius. I agree the sides are a little wide and flat now. I'm messing around with some trim ideas for it. One is a thin strip starting at the rear bumper cut in and going straight to about 3/4 of the door ending in a V8 or blue oval emblem or something like that. Your first concept build is wild, sure would like to see that one finished. Great idea!

Thanks Harold. The old Starlifter concept is what inspired me for this build as I always liked the looks of it. I appreciate the cool pictures of it!

Magnificent work Bill. I really like this Ford. Your color choice is perfect and it looks just right to me. BTW I have the same problems with BMF and I ordered mine directly from BMF CO. hoping to eliminate the second party "shelf time". Same results. I tried the DM stuff years ago and wasn't happy with it but maybe now time to revisit. Thanks for the tip. Again, fantastic 55!

AH HA! Found it! Thanks for reminding me about those pics. I dug these up from the October 1986 Collectible Automobile. I think the 59 looks great with this roof. My ead is spinning with ideas now
-
Thanks Bill! I always wondered that too. Ford abandoned the fastback for just this one year, I guess the thinking was formal "boxtop" roofline was the way to go...hey it worked on the T-Bird Now how kool would a 59 look with a 'liner roof on it?
-
Hey Kodiak, I appreciate your evaluation on this build. Thanks. You are correct in that I'm going for a custom rod look, trying to keep a mid 60's vibe. I tend to agree that I need to drop the rear a liitle. Not sure if I'll keep this wheel combo, I keep changing it around. The thin white walls will stay, just not sure of the rims. Eventually I'll find what I like.

With some time off from work last week I decided to start working on this Ford. I started out with an old eBay built up and after removing all the glued on custom clips, some putty and sanding I ended up with a fairly smooth body. The chrome trim was hosed so that had to come of too. I thought I'd try something different so I added a Starliner roof, set the stance with wheels and thin whites. I just molded in the 66 T-Bird hood scoop and it'll have the 3 carbed 428 from the same 66 'Bird kit under the hood. The original interior tub was trashed so I'm gonna use one from a 63 Galaxie with the 62 dashboard. I've got a few ideas for colors but not sure yet. Comments welcome!
