  1. Thanks for the extra pics!! Is that all from the SMBC kit or did you add anything? When I built the SMBC 55 Nomad, I added the Accel Super Coil, tach, Moon tank and a few other bits.
  2. Chris, I want the parts that you used for the background!! That really brings the model to life!! Regards,
  3. Looks like I might have to call SMBC for one of these, too. I just finished thier 55 Chevy Nomad A/FX gasser, and this kit is supposed to be even better!! How well did the parts fit? Any problems? How about some engine and chassis pics!!!
  4. Curt, Call me when you get time and I'll walk you through it. I setup my photo account on Fotki. Once you've posted your pics on Fotki it's as simple as copying and pasting the link for the photo into your post... I was certainly simpler than working with a resin kit!!
  5. Very nice and clean, Randy!! The BMF work looks excellent...nice and crisp... I remember seeing one of those several years ago. They are so incredibly small... Keep up the good work and the posts!! Regards,
  6. Now that's funny!!!
  7. Since it's a gasser theme this year, I built a 55 Nomad A/FX dragster. It's posted "Under Glass". I also plan on finishing a Revell 49 Merc that I've posted "On the Bench". I should have it done before Christmas... See you there,
  8. Jerry, Do you have any more pictures?
  9. Kenny, I like your avitar!! Have you modeled it yet?
  10. Looks great so far, Matt!! Can't wait to see the finished model!! Tilting a 32 is an interesting concept...
  11. Hey!!! That's my car!!! Just kidding...thanks for the chuckle...
  12. That is excellent!! Each piece is great by itself, put ot together and you have a winning combo!! Keep up the good work!!
  13. Thanks for the extra pictures, Neal!! I like it!!
  14. Thanks for all of the compliments, guys!! This was one of my favorite builds. I went together pretty well and I like the way it turned out. Regards,
  15. Thanks for the prompt response and advice, Dave. Now, how about a few chassis pictures!!
  16. That looks pretty cool, Neal!! Do you have any more pictures???
  17. Thanks for the compliments!! His new store or his old store? I spoke with Chris this morning. They're in the middle of getting the new store setup, so he's not able to take internet orders for a few days. Maybe I need to take a trip to MI!!
  18. Brendan, Thanks for the compliment!! Yes, it'll be at the NNL West. That's why I built it. Their theme this year is gassers. I look forward to seeing you,
  19. Thanks for the compliments, Nick!! The piant is Testors spray can lacquer with their clear coat. I tried to stay with a color that was close to the box art. I thought that the photos on the box looked pretty good with the gold "Altered State of Mind" decals, so I stayed close to Chris' theme. I never did ask him if this was a model of an actual car or just something that he dreamed up. I looked up "Altered State of Mind" on the internet, but I found just about everything except a 55 A/FX gasser...with that in mind, I made a few "alterations" of my own. Take care,
  20. Jonathan, I doubt that it's your glasses...I really didn't focus on getting good pictures of the tires for the "On the Bench" shots. The front tires are Goodyear Polyglas GT F60-15's and the rears are Goodyear Polyglas GT L60-15's. (I guess that tells you how old they are...they actually have a brand name on them...) The front tires measure 1.010" (25 1/4" in 1:1 scale) in diameter and the rear tires measure 1.100" (27.5" in 1:1 scale). Unfortunately, I'm already pretty well committed to using these wheels. Because of the modifications that I had to make to the axle and spindles to get them on the car, they are glued on as tight as a...well, you know what I mean...
  21. Walter, I bought mine through the mail after talking to Chris on the phone about it a few months ago. He guaranteed me that his resin was top quality, no pinholes, no flash and very little cleanup. He was correct. His resin is as nice right from the box as any AMT/Revell plastic kit. The full kit includes the aluminum distributor, but I bought the Moon tank and the tach separately. I wasn't impressed with the vacuform windows in the kit, so I used the glass from the AMT 55 Nomad kit that he used to make the mold. I also built my own parachute pack, only because I've never been able to paint one well enough to look as good as a fabric one. One thing to be aware of, I did a fair amount of scratch-building to get the chassis and the front suspension to look the way I wanted it to look. None of it was very difficult, but it took a bit of time. If I had to do it again, I'd buy just the body and interior tub for $40 instead of the whole kit for $65. The partial kit comes with everything except for the chassis, engine, tires and wheels. Here's the link to Chris' stuff: http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/smbc_bodies.htm Thanks for the compliments and regards,
  22. Jonathan, Thanks for the comments!! The pictures I posted probably don't show it well, but it does have big and little tires. Which wheels are you thinking?? I was only planning on using these wheels because I wanted to stick with the SVT theme, and these are the wheels from the '97 Mustang Cobra SVT that I took the interior and the engine from. I'm always open to suggestion!!
  23. Chris, Check out the pictures at the link below: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v390/Dak...0Ford%20Custom/ This link was in a response from Mike Newport when he told me about the Super Stallion kit after seeing my 49 Ford SVT Cobra posted in the "Under Glass" section.
  24. Bill, If it were built as a rat then I'd say "leave'm thick like old plumbin' pipes!!". With as cleanly and nice as you built it, I would make them look like they were bought and/or made from properly scaled material. We probably have met. I've been going to the NNL West for about 20 years. I was recently at the car show/model contest at CalExpo with my friend Jerry Cardinal. Jerry is well known for his brass models. I also get up to Roseville several times a year to see my friend Victor at Diecast City. Have you been to his store? Take care and see you soon,
  25. OK, Bill, since I said that I would re-look the photos of your big tub and provide some positive criticism, here's what I would do: 1) The exhaust end of the header pipe looks a bit too thick. I would take an X-ACTO or a drill bit and open it up just a little bit; 2) For a model this big, I would probably add some sort of bolt detail to the header flanges. Other than that, it looks GREAT!! Like I said, you know where the defects are because you built it. From the photos you posted it really looks good and I didn't see any obvious flaws. Yes, I'll come by to see you at the NNL West, if you make it. I live in Tracy and have several model building friends in the Sacramento, Roseville and Folsom area. We always attend the NNL West. Its a great event. My friend Curt and I often share a table to sell the few models that we know we'll never live long enough to build. Take care and see you March 1st,
