  1. A nice gift arrived this morning from one of my suppliers, not sure what I'm going to do with two pairs though, I've already got a pair of Xuron sprue cutters
  2. Oh that is a super nice build, I must get around to starting mine....
  3. I must stop looking on Ebay, another one on the way.....
  4. Finally managed to find one on Ebay, cost almost twice what you can buy the roadster version for, why there like chickens teeth to find is another mystery
  5. Just drops into place, apparently, I think Revell forgot about the driveshafts sticking out from the gearbox, nothing major, but it did involve a little jiggling.....
  6. Cheers Dann
  7. We've had them flying around here for a few months now... https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/giant-174ft-raf-c-17-18210630
  8. I'll second that, I've used his dash gauges on my last few builds, got a few sets for future builds, I got in touch with him a few weeks ago, he had a set listed for the Monogram 1/24 Cobra, I told him I was after a couple of sets for the AMT 1/25th Cobra, he made me a couple of sets for them, superb service.
  9. Back to the Golf, got the engine built up, the rest of it has to go in after the engine has been fitted into the frame
  10. No, it's got a V8 in it, would have been nice to have a straight 6 though
  11. Added yet another one to the stash....
  12. Just couldn't hold off getting one of these any longer
  13. Got the interior side panels fitted, before they went in the door locks were airbrushed in a mix of Tamiya titanium silver and gold, although now the side panels are fitted you can't really see them.
  14. It costs around £3.50 this side of the pond for a 150mls aerosol
  15. The one I built was the Airfix version, bringing back memories of the one I built back when i was 15, originally an MPC kit that's been released in quite a few different box arts, there all the same kit though, and builds up very nice.
  16. Things are getting better, this one arrived this morning only took 9 days to get delivered from Pennsylvania
  17. Agreed that either Molotow or Alclad really don't like being handled, and since the early 1990's I've been using Bare Metal foil, although a few years I built the MPC/Airfix 32 Chrysler, the chrome was shot, so got stripped and everything was redone using Alclad, it's been sitting in the display cabinet and still looks as good as it did the day it was built.
  18. Although I prefer the Bare Metal foil route, another option is to mask off the trim, and use Alclad lacquer, you need to airbrush a good glossy black coat first, but done correctly, Alclad is very realistic.
  19. Although the bulkhead isn't fixed in, it actually gets fitted inside the body, i just popped it in place while all those smaller components dry up.
  20. Turned out real nice, I built one a few years ago, certainly not the easiest kit to build...
  21. Today I've mainly spent detailing the smaller parts for the Land Rover, and airbrushing the fuel tank and fuel pump for the Golf GTi
  22. I've not seen the retarder yet, I bought the Tamiya thinners in Hong Kong last year when it wasn't yet available in the U.K.at the time.
  23. It really depends on what I'm using, for lacquer paints i find the VL with the #3 set up gives me the best finish, for sythentic enamels like those I used for the Trabant the H with the #5 set up was the only way I could get a decent finish.
