  1. Very nice build ...
  2. Yes, I want to build it factory stock, but unfortunately the AMT 49 Mercury isn't too easy to find over here, and to have one sent over from the States would have cost me £30, and I only paid £20 for the kit
  3. I'll get round to getting some better photos when I've finished off rearranging my hobby room and have somewhere for the photo booth to go
  4. What a great iidea, I'll be making some of these up .....
  5. Thank you, I take that as a great compliment ....
  6. I had this sitting in the stash for more years than I can remember, so late last year it came out and I started to build it, after doing a little work on it, I noticed that the clear parts were missing, luckily a member on here came to the rescue, and sent me the windsheild and quarter vent windows (Thanks Leslie), the body was painted in automotive 1K acrylic lacquer and wet sanded and polished once it had dried out, luckily I found a set of headlamp lenses in the spares box that fitted, chrome trim was done using chrome bmf
  7. So that will be left off then, I'm building the car as though it would be brand new and sitting in a dealers showroom, now one more question, would the rear number plate holder be fitted at the factory, or left off until the dealer fitted it ?? Having no mounting pins on a lot of the parts is a bit of a pain, but it's a 1998 kit, so I can forgive that, not the easiest kit I've built, but probably one of them most enjoyable, Just the wipers to do now
  8. No problem, and thanks for pointing it out, you know, as soon as I'd put in one I knew something didn't look right, just couldn't put my finger on it, all sorted now
  9. Just posted some more photo's on the build, 99% finished now http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/117122-monogram-48-ford-convertible/?page=2
  10. Not a lot to get this one finished now, 2 stone guards on the rear wings, 2 wipers, 2 door handles and the rear number plate to be fitted and it's done, next time I post, it will be in the "Under Glass" section
  11. Very nice, that's the same colour I'm going to do mine ....
  12. when I don't want a deep chrome finish, i use polished aluminum bmf, lightly burnished
  13. I bought one of their 1mm pens a few months ago, brilliant bit of kit !
  14. not quite, but not far off, probably 98% finished, it should be in the "Under Glass" section very soon
  15. Absolutely superb, can't wait to start mine .... After the woody of course !

  21. Nice work so far, it's the first one I've seen being built, I'm so impressed with the 48 convertible I'm building at the moment I've bought a couple of these to build later, but I fancy building the woody next
  22. Body & chassis fitted together, coming close to being finished+
  23. It's been so long since I've touched this model, I totally forgot about it, the wheels are now on and it's ready for the body and chassis to become one
  24. Finally got the interior fitted, after fitting the quarter vent windows, now it can be fitted onto the chassis
