My First Car
Spruslayer replied to Wickersham Humble's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1963 Nova SS. 6 cyl power glyde purchased in 76 for $125 Interior was near mint but the body had a crashed rear drivers side quarter panel Of course, in true gotta mod it fashion i put a 283 in it but alas the project never got finished as a Female caught my fancy and ended up selling it. Don't have a picture of it but this is the color. Even had the orginal hubcaps which i discarded 😞 -
Heres the end of the Chevy II Nomad Enjoy and thanks for lookin Made the decal to hide a sand through on the door The body work and paint could have been better Sorry for the poor quality photos

Picked mine up today from my local guy Chriss Includes two instruction sheet with some color photos of the model -
Found this wile looking for examples of the wagon Now that i have another body might give this one a try

Really don't know where the engine or tires and rims came out of as i found them in my parts stash. The hood scoop is from the 66 Nova Pro Street kit. The engine is likely a mashup of several kits because the intake and valve cover don't fit real good and the oil pan has a cut out that probably let an axel go through
-
The 6 was too long i would have had to remove some of the firewall It was a ebay buy and the add didn't say what kit it came out of, i think it was the 60 chevy truck with the go kart kit Should have bought the engine that was in the 63-nova wagon with trailer kit

My fist car was a 63 Nova SS. 230 6cyl powerglyde automatic, about 74 or 75. My vision for color at this moment is pearl purple with a solid Purple on the lower body

This has been one of those fight you everystep of the way projects This is the AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon The orginal idea was to make it a genric federal government car that some beurocrat would use to carry out their dutys In this scenario it was used by the project bluebook due to the ofical UFO search vehicle decals included with the kit problems raised their ugly head when upon opening the box i found the stering wheel was baddly misformed. The easy solution would be contact Round 2 and they would send a new one,but i have a fairly deep parts box and was able to find a replacement that worked so thats what i went with So continuing on i got as far as having the body painted and the rest of the parts in primer i wanted to put a 6 inline 6 cyl that i had in the parts box but found it was too big. So after pondering how to continue the idea hit me to turn this into a restomod Nomad with a hot motor in it So to the parts box to find some wheels/tires and engine that can be seen in the photos Wanting to paint it a differnt color i striped the body, deleted all the chrome trim and back bumper and turned it into a two door. Doing some prefitting of the parts i discovered i lost the sterring wheel replacement, the dashboard, both tail light and one of the headlight lense so off to ebay and bought another kit so i could replace the parts that i lost which brings me to where im at now Sorry for the rant and without further adue, heres the What if,63 Nova Nomad

Airbrush Compressor Upgrade Recommendations
Spruslayer replied to fcriscuo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a California 1610 spq that is about 5 YO now and been perfect Got it on the cheap back then and prices have gone up considerably. There are some others at your price point. It is also quiet which works good because i use it in the basement Improvement can be a higher CFM output and larger tank This brand can be found on Amazon and other tool retailers -
Guess ill throw my 25 cents in the frey I havent used a model paint that dident do a good job, have i used all of them out there,no looking at my paint rack there are 15 differant brands and i would guess there was 4 or 5 more that i have thrown away because i used it all or what was left went bad sitting on the shelf. The first thing i do with a brand i have not used is paint a peice of scrap to find out how thinner to use for airbrushing it should be noted that i only use water based paint in the AB It has come down to either Vallejo or Tamiya as my go to for model paints i also use craft paint with sucess,Apple Barrel, folk art ect. Guess ill have to put my clown suit on because i use Rust-oleum primers and clear coats why it works for me is i put the victim in the pace peace keeper and spray no closer that 12 to 15 inches away.Allowing the clears to dry several days and sanding to 3000 grit between coats produces a level reflective gloss that works for me May not be an contest award winner but i like it

-
Thank you David The prototypes i looked at had the word Roadrunner on the air intakes just behind the doors and i thought the same about the brake boooster but i could find no part or mention of it in the instructions I like the wheels just wish i could have found some wider tires
-
Thank you Michelle!
-
Thanks John Its all box stock, another little oddity is the power break unit that is only one half, hollow on the bottom side Was going to try and put some differant tires on it but the rims were all to large for what i had in the parts box
-
This went togeter well but has some odd details that dontmake sense, like the batterie and coolant reservoir under the hood and the side decals are not correct

Larry,Bill Trevor and Joe,Thanks for the looks and complements Joe,Moebius make some fine kits This is the first one i had a problem with the warped hood but they sent a replacement so all is well now. I have the 67 F-350 ramp truck,1956 Chrysler 300B and the 1961 Pontiac Ventura plus the classic Batman collection. Still waiting on Batgirl to be released to round out that collection. I want to get to the vehicles soon but i suffer from the classic "so many models,So little time" syndrom

Great looker,love the Corvair!
