  1. Bill, What a great truck, gives me some ideas. Welcome on board!
  2. Look at these piano hinges! Superb!!!! I have just fitted The Model Car Garage hinges to the cab doors and just wanted to show everyone what they looked like. These are extremely fine and great care is required, but well worth the time. Many Thanks to Jairus for the tip about the hinges, see forum subjects: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2410 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2276 Thanks for looking.

  4. I think Tim has a secret 1/25, 1/24 scale manufacturing plant in his house filled with 1/25, 1/24 workers. An Ahlborn Peterbilt, two names recognised for quality, reliability, customer satisfaction and style. 8) Great Work Tim Best Wishes
  5. Jerry, If you need inspiration just look at the beast in the link below. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PETERBILT-3...1QQcmdZViewItem Best Wishes.
  6. Chris, This looks good so far, like how you widened the fenders makes it look much better with the wheels covered. Great work!
  7. Hello Folks, The engine is now complete and installed as is the main transmission. next Hood, Cab and fenders. http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/1964-pet...-351/page2.html Hope you enjoy the photo's. Best Wishes
  8. Jim, Having read your last message about Griffin having a V12 DD I contacted Sharon at Spaulding Trading and Shipping. This was the reply I got: "No one makes a V12 Detroit presently. We used to carry one from Hendrix Mfg. and he went into semi-retirement. We do have the molds for the V12 and somewhere in the near future I am going to see if I can't get several casting out of them. Will keep your email on file and let you know when I conquer this task. (I already do casting with some of the Griffen items - Griffen made the molds and I did the casting.) We also have the molds for the 3408 Cat engine and I'll be working on that one also." This is great news for all us modellers. I will post any developments to keep everyone up to speed. Best Wishes
  9. Johnny, The trailer Kenworth combination works very well and the colours compliment each other. Great build.
  10. Johnny, This is a great looking truck. Like the colour combination it works well.
  11. Casey, Just listen to the Detroit Diesel in this video. Thats why your Pete has a DD. 8) Good Luck with the Project. Hope the weather sorts itself out soon. I spent the winter 1993 to 1994 in Montreal Canada. That was an experience, anyways wrap up warm folks and look after yourselves. Best Wishes
  12. Jim, Check this link below, this is the Kenworth Wrecker made by Dieseldoc on this forum. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50 Best Wishes
  13. Jim, Great ideas for a project. This has got me interested. I bought the Revell Kenworth Wrecker a few months ago. I checked in the box it has an extended hood. I,m not sure which W900 it is but the kit looks late 70s early 80s. It has a 3408 cat diesel which was rated at 450 HP (The 3408 fits in with the time period). The V12 Detroit was rated at 475 HP I think? so the radiators will probably be the same. One thing I've noticed on photos of trucks with the DD is they have the Radiator Shutters on them. But not sure, not an expert. I was looking for a V12 DD in after market parts but could not find one. I,m not sure if the AMT Super Boss Kenworth has V12 or a V16? Either way you might be able to do something with this kit. Have fun and enjoy the project. Best Wishes Dave Bates
  14. Kurt, Auslowe make a 3406 Cat engine. It has the pulleys and mechanical fuel injection system. There is no cooling fan. I dont know the web address for Auslowe, but I bought 2 from KFS. I also bought a Hendrix 3406 from STS. This looks a good unit but the Auslowe one appears to have more parts and detail. Either way enjoy the project. Best Regards Dave Bates
  15. Kurt, The kit Engine is definately a Cummins NTC 475 check out this link below for details: The photo on the box shows a Caterpillar 3406. The kit definately is NOT a cat. I think the engine colour would be white but not to sure. I'm sure Tim will confirm. http://www.dieselenginemotor.com/diesel/engines/27,1.html Hope this helps. Best Wishes Dave Bates
  16. Chris, I have been thinking about building the Michigan Loading Shovel for some time. Having seen this big beast I will be planning to get my hands on a kit from KFS. The details in your freinds gives me a lot of ideas. Thanks for sharing it with us. Best Wishes Dave Bates
  17. Dave, Your standards of craftsmanship and the vehicles you produce are superb! I've just been looking at some of your photo's and was very impressed, liked the little tutorial on the tunnel light. Great work! Dave Bates
  18. Brain, The paint finish on this truck is superb, wish I could paint that good. Great Truck!! Dave Bates
  19. Ray, $ 405.00 is madness!  To my knowledge the tri drive Kenworth is not that rare. For $ 405.00 I think I would be buying a wreck of Ebay and custom building my own using Aftermarket parts and scratch building the rest. But still if people want to pay that much for a kit there aint much we can do about it. Dave Bates.
  20. Hello folks, Well I,m making steady progress. The frame is nearly complete just one or two things to finish off and touch up. I,m pleased so far with the truck although one or two things caused me some headachs. mainly the diesel tank steps. These are from KFS and are extremely delicate things. A great deal of care is required. The steps come with a neat cat walk, so I fitted that to. The tool box on the right side I made myself. All the rear suspension works and the mud flaps work to. If you look closely you will see the truck license plate 64 351 P These were made using the ACME License Maker. Colorado was one of the few states that had a 1964 plate. So Colorado it was. After the frame is complete I will start on the Detroit Diesel and the main transmission then the cab, hood and fenders. I have tried to upload a photo but the "Upload photo" thing has disappeared of my screen???? Hmmm! Odd! Check out the photo's in my Album. Best Wishes everyone and thanks for looking. Dave Bates http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/1964-peterbilt-351/
