  6. Excellent Project with some great scratch building. I also like the colour scheme, works well.
  7. Many Thanks for the kind comments. Tim, I was wondering about the kit frame and whether or not it was based on the Aluminium version. The frame rail section and the row of bolts at the front by the engine may be a bit of a clue? I quite like the paint scheme and am thinking of building a small fleet of these blue and white trucks. All will be Clatterpillar powered. Possibly a W900a with extended cowl with 1693TA or the R of G W900a with the 3408 or maybe both.. One thing I do need for this build is the door decals. On the 352 Pacemaker I used the "DC Trucking Dubuque Iowa" decals from the Transtar 4300 kit. Does anyone have any of these to trade? Thanks for looking
  8. This is a superb project with some very nice details and excellent weathering. Well done so far and I will look forward to future updates.
  9. It's a while since I posted anything. I have been busy but have not had time to put up anything on the forum. Here is a project that I have been planning for some time. The stumbling block was the extended hood to fit the AMT T500 and T501 kits. About 4 weeks ago I recieved my Extended Hoods from Eric at P & P vintage kits. Wow I was impressed. They are very clean cast, with minimal clean up required and good detaling. Well done Eric! Interestingly they also come in a kit form so that you can build them as a twin breather, single right breather or single left breather . This truck will be a twin breather. The engine will be a Clatterpillar 1693TA. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki More at: http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/1972-peterbilt-359/#media Thanks for looking
  10. John, Great job matching the retro with modern style. That really does look impressive.
  11. Very clean and impressive build. Great work!
  12. That is impressive. Great work.
  13. Great build! The detailing around the engine looks perfect.
  14. Great build and an excellent paint scheme.
  15. The weathering looks real! Excellent project.
  16. What a superb looking truck. I like it!
  17. Very interesting and well built conversion! The neddle nose trucks are firm favourites of mine. This company below supplies hinges. Look down the page to the piano hinge which is 6" long and when opened out 4.5 mm. This may still be too big? Until you have them in your hand and offered up to the hood or cab you won't really know. http://www.phoenixmodeldevelopments.com/acatalog/The_Phoenix_Miniature_Hinge_Range.html
  18. Superb project! The details and weathering are great.
  19. A little update on this. Not much to report on but I have at least got the decals in place. The weather is still to cold to clear coat the cab. So pretty much at a stand still on this one. http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki Thanks forlooking.
  20. Wow! What a difference the longer frame makes and those colours are superb. Very nice!
  21. The engine in the RoG Peterbilt 359 and KW aerodyne K100 kits is a Cummins NTC 475 with the twin turbochargers.
  22. Douglas, The description you give makes a lot of sence to me. We used to have a lot of crane trucks like that here in Britain, still do in fact. I did a search on Hank's truck pictures and found these photo's: http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/mark_simiele02.htm Have a good look through hopefully there will be something there of use.
  23. HelloRoy, The AMT instructions are known for not being very clear. Before starting any vehicle Iike to spend time researching the particular vehicle that I am wanting to build. One of the best sources of reference for any model truck kit is Tim's website (www.timstrucks.com). He recently built the K123 and has some good photo's and information about the build check the page below: http://public.fotki.com/mackinac359/kenworth-model-gallery-1/kenworth-k123-out-o/ Dave, Those two trucks look superb, very impressive,
  24. Very Impressive a nice clean build and interesting subject.
