I finally finished this one, had big plans for the paint job but messed it up. So went back to basics and got it off the bench.:-(

I finished this a while ago, botched the first paint job and lost my mojo with the project. Just want it off the bench ;-(

Nice! Great stance, awesome rim choice. Color and paint is awsome as well!

Thanks again guys. Ha, I'm on The Samba as well. I own a 1960 Fiberglass dune buggy. Model building helped me make this car a reality. Just swapped out the styrene for steel. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=265364&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start= -

Thx Pete. Not sure what is going on with the pictures. I resized them a little smaller. I think that fixed it. -
A build I did awhile back. Major work was done to get the stance. Interior needed to be reworked to make room for the tires.Lower box doors and engine door was opened up to show the engine (This kit was a curb side so added an engine). Top box rails were also made functional. Added bucket seats and a console to finish it off.

Such a nerve wracking stage in the build. You spend all this time on a chassis and the paint job can either compliment your work or wreck it. I should known better than to not paint the body first. LOL As for color I went with what I was going to do in the first place with an added stripe. Started the multi step paint process today. Primed, interior painted, masked and first stripe color painted. Will wait a few days for the next step in the process.

I think you got ripped off. BUT, I am willing to give you a way out and cut your losses. I'll buy it off of you for what you paid. I have this garage kit, very cool kit. Can't remember what I paid but a heck of a lot more than you did . Nice score!

Thank again you guys. I'm on a bit of a role. Chassis and interior is complete.

Thx for the comments guys and following along. With this new government up here in Canada the province of Alberta is hurtin pretty bad. My business is feeling the pinch and I haven't been in the mood for building. I did sit down this weekend and tried plugging away a bit. Felt good to get my mind somewhere else. Exhaust is done. Wasn't enough room for mufflers so after scratching my head for a while came up with this idea. Mechanical dumps with some parts box mufflers. Went out the side of the body for the exhaust exit (I have always loved that look).

Love the machining , really need to start playing with my lathe and mill some more. Hey another Chevy II pickup. cool. Here is mine.

A few I have done.

Awesome to see this build. I found this kit last week and snapped it up right away (one I actually didn't have). I love seeing these buggies built. You have done it justice capturing the era perfectly, well done! I am a self-proclaimed expert in the field LOL. I have a 1:1 1966 fiberglass dune buggy that will one day replicate in 1:25th. My 1:1

I started one of these about 7 years ago, the build thread is on here somewhere. One day it might make it back on the bench.... looking forward to seeing your project take shape.

Thanks again. LOL The way I'm throwing money away on mud it might be cheaper to fly you up LOL. Seems like I put it all on then end up sanding it all off again....;-)

Wow super cool! Thx for the comments guys. I had to put this on hold for a bit. Wife has me renovating the main bathroom. Installing new sheetrock at the moment and mudding the joints. Figured how hard could it be to get a wall smooth when I can get a kit to look like glass...... Apparently not the same thing LMAO. Anyways I will hopefully get back at this in the near future. In the meantime I finished the frame.

If you could only choose ONE photo of any of your builds, wich would it be?

So many talented builders on this site. It's a honor to be amongst you. -
WOW guys thanks for all the comments and feedback. A bit more done, not a huge update... I tried to mock up the front end using the front bumper, isn't happening so I messed around making a front spoiler. I also did the hood vents the C10R has. Rear has been rolled, again didn't like the bumper look.
