Hi guys. I'm wondering which Tamiya Blue would be a close match to Earnhardt's Wrangler blue? I have Brilliant Blue & it's close but wondering if there is a better blue choice. Thanks, Mike

I make mine out of popcycle sticks cut to whatever width I want. I cut strips of whichever grit of sandpaper I was a little wide & use Testors glue that's in orange/red tube. When dry I trim off excess sandpaper.

There is no way in the world I could do what you did. It looks fantastic! you put me to shame! I just finished a 1964 Plymouth that Maurice Petty drove in 4 races that year. I'm ashamed to post mine!

Thanks for the help. I knew it wasn't a vinyl top. I should have said "a vinyl looking" top

Looks good but all suspension parts should be Royal Blue. A friend that worked for Petty told me.

Looks great! How in the world did you paint the gauges like that?

What do you mean a "kicker" & what type of clamps?

In the '68 Daytona 500 Petty's Road Runner had a black vinyl top. What could I do to make the top look a vinyl top?

Wow , that looks great! And the detail is great.

I am building a 1964 Plymouth race car. There a lot of raised & low places in the body lines where numbers & other decal will go. I've never used Micro Set & Micro Sol before. I have no idea which to use & how to uses either and the specific uses for each. Which will I need to use to get the decals to lay down in the low places properly? And exactly how do I go about using them. Please help educate a dummy! Thanks, Mike

I take my time & clean mold lines & ejection pin marks while part are still on the sprue. Takes time & patience.

That's how I paint a lot of my parts.

About a month ago I somehow stuck a #11 X-Acto knife in the outside of my left index finger into the bone. I had to pull like crazy to get it out. It's still sore! At work on November 17 1919 at 8:35am I had my hand get caught & pulled into the outfeed rolls of an industrial planer mill. I was the mill manager & was taking my guys place when he went to the bathroom. I had turned the feed rolls off & reached in to get some splintered wood out so it would feed. The little finger on my left hand glove hit the roller which had resin on it & pulled me in. I fought the thing almost pulling my hand off. I about gave out & my forearm went in. When the rollers stopped coasting I was in up to my shoulder. The rollers were 5/8" apart. Got to hospital & they cut my jacket & shirt off & my arm was flat! But no bones were broken, just flattened them. Next day my arm had swollen to the size of my thigh, my fingers size of golf balls. They kept it packed in ice most of the time because of the pain. I was on max doses of morphine. Stayed in hospital for 3 weeks, had 13 operations on hand & arm, 2 1/2 yrs. in physical therapy every day, over 100 nerve blocks just to go to therapy & a yr. in a pain clinic every day. Had major nerve & artery damage. 2 weeks after I got home Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy set in. Look it up. It's hell on earth. I take 5 oxycodone a day, 6 gabapentin, 4 muscle relaxers & 3 Dilantin a day for pain. But I'm alive!!! Forgot about this, I had skin grafts to replace the places where my skin was peeled off the bottom of my wrist & all over my forearm. Had over 400 stiches in the grafts. Took skin off my thigh & it felt like someone may have poured gas on it & lite it.

Thanks for the help everyone! I finally found the Tamiya TS36 Fluorescent Red paint at Ballzanos Hobby Warehouse. So anyone building the Salvinos JR Petty cars, this is the color paint Jim of Salvinos JR said to use along with Tamiya TS10 French blue. Also Salvinos JR are releasing the #28 Hardee's 1984 Monte Carlo this week! Thanks again everyone for the help!

I have 3 Richard Petty models & I need to find Tamiya TS36 Fluorescent Red paint for them. Anyone have any idea where I can find it in the US? I found it in Australia, Spain & England but that does me no good here in Virginia.

I was going to get one of these models until I read the horror stories about the decals! I've got 2 of the Interstate Batteries DJ cars & they will have to do.

I have never used Pledge Restore before when using decals on model cars. I'm building NASCAR models & do I put decals on the model then apply Pledge Restore or do I apply Pledge Restore on the model & then put the decals on? Thanks for your help.
