  1. I used to run a local VW club and remember what it was like to be cruising with fellow VW enthusiasts to a location and I thought it would interesting to see what a scene from WWII would look like if various VW models regardless of paint scheme were caravaning through the forest.
  2. nice work, I need to start a drag car soon
  3. I was out at ModelFest in Camarillo today and picked up these kits with limited funds. The real surprise of the day was the Munsters box which contained both coach and Dragula together for $13 as I saw other sealed kits going for $40 to $60
  4. I built this 1/35 1025 Humvee a few weeks ago with some advice from my cousin who rode around one in Desert Storm. I opted for a camo finish, but wasn't too happy with the clarity of the camo and will try to use silly putty next time and not try to freestyle my colors. I took it to a model show today but quickly realized I was outclassed. Learning a little with every build
  5. I used to spend several weeks in Grover Beach with the family every year. I bought a ‘63 Bug with a wide eye kit years to build as a bug I could take the family onto the Pismo dunes but after I got into it, I realized the body was too far gone and it served as a parts donor for my ‘59 streetcar. I kept the pan to hopefully build a 4 seater buggy someday and the Baja kit may end up on my on my ‘55 that I purchased from a guy who had already cut it for a Baja. The direction I take with this build will depend on the tires I eventually find. We can work something out on another pour. .
  6. Thanks everyone. I’m looking forward to finishing it. Hopefully it ends up looking like I picture it in my head.
  7. I might either go wi I might either go with a sand type set up with paddles on back and smoothies up front or an off-road bfg looking tire. My inspiration is the Tamiya sand scorcher
  8. My mother in law found this kit for me 20 years or so ago. I’ve always wanted to build a narrow eye Baja bug model and already have several street bugs so here we go. I dremeled the nose and rear clip off and sculpted a new nose from plaster before casting it in resin (first time). I just completed a styrene rod role cage and have a few more ideas to go with it.
  9. I modeled a few of mine as well over the years. I’m now working on a Tamiya Sand Sorcher replica using a Revell street bug kit
  10. Iamsuperdan, I’ve been collecting guitars since I was in high school, another one of my more expensive hobbies. I’ve owned Epiphones, Fenders, Gibson’s and many Ibanez. A few years ago, I moved over to Bass now playing 4 and 5 string and just purchased my first American elite pj. I jam with a few groups of folks but am really enjoying a surf guitar group I’m playing with now.
  11. I am 50 years old and started building models when I was around 10 years of age and was able to find model kits at the local drug store. I had built many a snap kit and funny cars were my passion. I continued to build into my early teens till life got in the way and only recently picked up the hobby and collecting about 3 years ago. I love to build hot rods and VWs although I have also acquired a passion for WWII armor and vehicles as well as Star Wars ships. I joined my local model club about 2 years ago and have participated along with my daughter in a few out of town competitions although I have never won anything. I’ve learned a lot on various Facebook groups althoughI have since quite Facebook. I’m looking forward to reading many posts here and gaining more knowledge on how to improve my builds. Some of my unbuilt collection.
