  1. Ian, do you really think you needed to polish it? The red looks pretty good as is. What kind of paint are you using?
  2. Thank you so much, Mike. The kind words are much appreciated.
  3. Thanks, Chris , Peter and Len. I really appreciate the feedback.
  4. Fixed some photobucket links.
  5. Looks awesome. The paint and detail is excellent. The model makers could have done us a big favor if they had made a 39 ford standard coupe as well as the 40. The 39 was used a lot more as a race car back in the day then the 40 was. I'm in the process of changing a 40 into a 38/39. The front half of the car is a 38 deluxe coupe and the back half is a 39 standard coupe. I guess the car was a 39 that got wrecked and they replaced the front sheet metal with 38 hood and grille. I hope to be finishing it up in a few weeks.
  6. This is what future looks like now. Its the same bottle but the label has changed.
  7. This is the real car from the 1963 Firecracker 400. It was only raced in this color scheme at this race and then changed to gold and white for the next one.
  8. These are going to be awesome.
  9. Thanks, John. My computer got zapped by lightning during the storm. Finally got a new one Friday. Note to self , stay off computer during lightning storms.
  10. Here are the decals I used. Some were leftovers from a 63 Fireball Roberts Ford.
  11. If you want to see how the model came together, click on the link below for the wip. http://cs.scaleautomag.com/sca/modeling_subjects/f/31/t/125777.aspx
  12. Kit: AMT 1964 Mercury Marauder Paint: Model Master Italian red acryl, White acryl, and Artic blue metallic acryl with a little white added to make it a shade lighter. Decals: My own created on my computer and printed on clear and white sheets. The clear sheets are testors and I purchased the white sheets from Micro Mark This is the car that Rex raced at the 1963 Firecracker 400. It still had the Bill Stroppe colors for that race. After that he repainted it to his usual gold and white. I wanted to do this car because I always thought the Stroppe Mercury's looked awesome. Especially the 1963 version. This is the last car to do in my Rex White collection. It took 164 hours to complete. 11.5 of those hours were for the decals.
  13. Jonathan, you have done an awesome job. This is an excellent build. You have taken a good kit and made it much, much better. I don't understand why they cant get the ride height correct on these kits but you have fixed it for sure. Just beautiful.
  14. J. C. when you click on the edit button the links do not appear on this website. If they did I would surely delete them. Maybe a moderator could delete them for me. I don't want photobucket to get any exposure. believe me.
  15. bump. Fixed some photobucket links.
  16. You have a point there Bruce. A house that we walk by in the morning has a new Camaro and a 68 Camaro sitting on the driveway. The new one looks twice as big as the old one. I wish he would garage the old one. It seems a travesty to keep it out in the elements like that.
  17. Looks perfect. You can probably just cut down the kit spoiler to get the low downforce spoiler you need. But I'm sure you knew that.
  18. Looking awesome. Great fix on the ride height. You'd think they could get that right but I guess not. If their coming out with a chevy glue kit it wont be good for next year now because that car will be a Camaro ZL-1. I'm sure Ford will follow with a Mustang. Toyota doesn't have a pony car so I guess that will stay the same.
  19. Thanks, John. Coming from you that means a lot.
  20. Thanks, Jim. I really appreciate the reply.
  21. I was fixing links photobucket ruined and found that I had posted this model with fotki. I had to stop using them when they wanted money to stay a member. What's funny is even though I cant use them anymore they did not kill my links so this car remains visible on the internet even though I can t access it anymore. Today I see photobucket is giving you a deal to get 3rd party hosting. they are knocking off a whole 10 percent from the 400 dollars a year they want. Isn't that magnanimous of them to do that.
  22. Yes I have a Chevy snap kit and been seriously thinking about doing the Sinclair car. The only thing is the paint fade on the a pillars might be tough. Michael Self kept competing at Iowa with a broken front sway bar. He was all over the track but would not quit. Very impressive
  23. Bruce, I used the impala hardtop kit and turned it into a 2 door sedan. If you go to my photobucket and look up the sub album Rex White 1958 Chevy you will find pictures of the conversion. link below. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/texwardfan/library/1958%20Rex%20White%20Chevy?sort=2&page=2
  24. bump
  25. Thanks , Jonathan. Do you know what the composite is made up of? They look close enough that you could probably use a revell snap kit to do an arca car. Just have to make some general tire decals for it.
