  1. I tried another sticker on an old 63 chevy body and yes I believe they want you to remove the outer film from the stickers and then clean off the gooey stickum between the image and the outer film with 70 % isopropyl alchohol. This makes the sticker look more like a decal. see the pictures below. just get the outer film loose with your fingernail and pull it off with a tweezers it sticks pretty hard but the image does look better with the outer film removed.
  2. Great job , Bob . I'm not sure, but I think those stickers have a top layer you remove after you apply them that cleans them up a bit. I found this out when I was using the upper grille sticker as a template for the one I'm building at the moment.. Maybe somebody can voice in on this if it is the case.
  3. excellent , awesome build.
  4. Thanks, Steve. I remember wanting to build this model back on July 5, 1964 when I was delivering papers, because on the front page of the Houston Chronicle there was a picture of Foyt in this car edging out, I think it was Bobby Issac, at the finish line of the 64 Firecracker 400. Back then we got no nascar news in the paper unless Foyt was involved. He was a home town hero but mostly for indy cars. Back then, building models was tough, because there was no aftermarket decals, and no computers. And I was only 13 years old so my skills were very limited. I mostly built glue bomb military aircraft that I did not even paint. just glued the pieces together and I was done.
  5. fixed some photobucket links
  6. Sorry, guess I should read a little closer before I post . But they were both excellent builds and the truck with its size was the most impressive.

  18. Here is the only reference picture I had to go by so a lot of it was guessing on colors and what the covered up partial words were. But I did do some research and they could be feasible. This was the drivers service station. And this was his teammates car. Only the rear fenders were a color other than black on this one but seem to match the rear fender color of the 21 car.. The trunk, roof and hood were black on the 14. I think the driver wanted to match the color of the Amoco logo which was red and black back in 1940.
  19. Finished this a few days ago but could not do the pictures due to other commitments. Took 86.5 hours to complete. hood and grille are from a 38 Ford the the rest of the car is a 39.
  20. Super clean beautiful build.
  21. Excellent build . Super clean finish. Awesome in every way.
  22. Man, that's looking awesome Mike.
  23. Looks awesome. Now put some tires on that baby. Totally understand about the white and orange dulling on you and having to go ahead and polish the red as well, That's one of the reasons I don't use Tamiya anymore. If I'm going to have to polish anyway I just use model master acryl with my airbrush and save some money. Also I found that when I masked Tamiya and removed the tape it left an imprint of the tape on the Tamiya paint. It doesn't do that with acryl.
  24. Excellent job on the van. Never seen a team van done before. Great idea.
  25. Thanks, Peter and Jim. I really appreciate the feedback.
