  1. I'd be interested if the kit came with more than one option, say a super stock version with race wheels/slicks, big 390 engine, roll bar and other go fast goodies.
  2. I know many on this forum have made comments. I don't mean to discuss the comparison of the original 1:1 car vs restored 1:1 car vs. the 1/25 scale model that's been much discussed. In terms of the fit and casting, the quality here is outstanding. The body mold is excellent and best China -produced since Revell started molding kits there: crisp details, no flash, few seams and injection marks that are easy to clean up for priming, painting. The dry fit of body parts: the hood, windscreen (thin and very clear)and firewall, is excellent. I've started the engine and the fit is good here. In the past Revell kits have been considered as approaching (eventually) Japanese model quality. Well this kit matches the Japanese competition, meaning Tamiya, IMHO. Great job Revell, bring on more of these.
  3. http://allshops.org/cgi-bin/community/communityalbums.cgi?ownerid=9990110609238 4 albums with hundreds of pix of actual 1:1 Chi town build. Don't know if this link has already been provided.
  4. Thanks to all, last nite I fitted the GTX tubbed chassis and interior under the 70 superbee and the fit is most excellent. The GTX interior is OK, definitely a vast improvement over the superbee's tub interior.
  5. I've got the 70 superbee recent re-issue from Round 2, and the old AMT 69 GTX pro street. Wonder if the 69 GTX chassis and interior would fit under the 70 superbee body? The bodies look similar in length with wheel wells in same position.
  6. Looking for a street tire with wide tread, late 60-70's muscle car style, like the G60's with 8+ inch thread, but not so wide like the MT Sportsman. Any kits or resin aftermarket come to mind? THanks.
  7. I'd like to do a gasser (sort of like Mazmaniam 61 vette), and need a good body, chassis to work with. Any ideas? I know there's resin, but would prefer a styrene kit. Thanks for any help.
  8. Besides sanding off the charger scrips on body & dash, and getting aftermarket superbee decals, what are the changes that need to be made (those that are visible to the eye on a model that is)? Thanks for any help!
  9. Were these painted red oxide or black or the body color, or something entirely different?
  10. Looking for the MT tires, same (or similar) as the rear tires in the AMT Baldwin Motion 70.5 Camaro kit? Anyone sell these as aftermarket (besides the MRC- too rubbery and stubby looking, prefer vinyl or resin)?
  11. Gang, you can review the instructions for most of the newer Revell kits before you order them! Revell has done a great job and just updated the listing, and most of the new kits are now there: 62 Chevy, 57 Black Widow, 72 Cutlass are there and the latest re-releases: 37 Ford, the Monogram kits etc. I love this opportunity to check out the new kits before I buy. Revell's instructions are clear and detailed. http://www.revell.com/support/instructions.html http://www.revell.com/support/instructions.html
  12. this is an excellent re-release, but the interior is a simple tub. Anyone know of a swap that would work? A multi piece interior with more details is what I have in mind.
  13. Does anyone know if the 68 charger Revell "special edition" out about 2 yrs ago came with or without the vinyl top? Thks in advance, Steve.
  14. Where and when does the Tri state model car club meet? Any membership info appreciated, thanks. SteveZ.
  15. How good is the new testors lacquer? Do you need to prime coat before using? Can tamiya's primer be used? Do you have to gloss coat, or can you polish out the base after it cures? Thanks in advance, Steve Z.
  16. How is the quality and build of the Altered states models' 40 Willys pick up? or anyone used one of their kits?
  17. I've seen it on the website, but only one pic is there. Anyone have it? How is quality? Does the new 41 Revell kit work for it?
  18. Picked up this one in its original box. The body seems very accurate and well shaped, easy to sand. Anyone built one of these? Also, is there a better instruction guide to putting the tube chassis etc together, like a step by step guide, as the instructions provide no clue what to assembler 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.
  19. I've filled hood ornament ( 53 Lindberg Ford), and rear signal lite openings with evergreen styrene, sanded, filled with Tamiya putty, and primed. I can still see the outline of the area. Any tips for eliminating this?
  20. I'm looking to fill about 1/16th to 1/8th width, 1/16th depth on the 53 ford crestline's trim belt, in order to build a mild custom without the trim. What's your best filler choice in this case? (I have tamiya putty)
  21. Is this a 2 in 1 kit, with option for stock and drag, or custom? I believe it was to be a Dec. release (?)
  22. I'm thinkin of making the 427 66 fairlane as stock or ss drag car. Wondering what could be removed or added back then? Rear seat out? replace front bench seat with buckets?, inside door panels removed? Add roll bar? Modify dash? take out center console? What size rear slicks? take off exhaust pipes, mufflers? Is there a website with NHRA AHRA rules back then? Sorry for all the questions, thanks.
  23. I've heard very good things about modelhaus kits, anyone know of this one- the 50 panoramic custom ford and how it fits the amt donor? Anyone build the 40 custom merc or 49 cadillac fastback as well? Thanks, Steve.
  24. This is one great kit, but I wonder why the car has prominent drip molding above the doors. On line pix of 49's don't have molding at all (carnut.com). Sounds like it should be shaved off? Anyone try this on their kit? STeve Z.
