  1. Around the time the Hyundai was being designed the Marina was undergoing a potential face-lift that never happened, I don't know if Hyundai took notes from the prototype but the picture below looks a lot like a Pony!
  2. Very nice. I really like the Toyotas and Datsuns of the 70's and 80's, they were like miniature muscle cars.
  3. Those are sweet, I like the LeSabre.
  4. That looks cool, very nice. A proper throwback to the custom kits of the 70's, I like it.
  5. Another build I did before I joined the forum. This is my San Francisco Yellow Cab made from the AMT '70 Galaxie Highway Patrol. I always wanted to do a classic Yellow Cab, so I had to find decals and scratch build the roof box Taxi sign. I used the radio from the kit as I didn't have a proper CB radio at the time to put in there. Simple kit with very low parts count that went together perfectly fine. No fit issues and I hope to d another sometime, probably a highway Patrol version. I might add weathering to it eventually as these were never seen in clean running order, they were always covered in grime and beat to heck and back!
  6. Very nice. I like what you've done with the C pillar and window frame. Looks really good.
  7. Flipping heck! fair play, you done some really nice building here. I look forward to seeing it done. From what I can see so far I'm certain you'll get the rest done quite easily and will look crazy good when finished! Nice one.
  8. looking really good. I'll have to buy another of those '70 Galaxies, they look so cool.
  9. Almost finished the order of radio fascias, I have to clean them up a bit and paint them but should be done in the next day or so. I'll be glad to get back to model building cos my kitchen is looking like a factory work station!
  10. We're all watching, no pressure! xD
  11. Yeah, the part above the grill is just a flat blank piece of chrome, the box art shows what is supposed to be there but the box shows a real 1-1 car. I never noticed the windscreen cowl being so curved, interesting stuff. The version I built is this one..
  12. Kind of, Pressed Steel Fisher did the tooling. Hyundai had licence to make Cortinas and the German Taunus, the Pony was a mix of Ford and Mitsubishi components. Note the wheels are mk3 mk4 Cortina.
  13. Thanks, guys. Looking at my older builds I always see things I would have done differently, like painting the front wheel tubs/inner wings black, and not mistaking the trunk floor for the fuel tank! haha,
  14. Didn't they? That's surprising, the kits that are impossible to find here are usually a dime a dozen in the States. There's not a single one (Fuzz Duster) listed in the UK as of the time I'm writing this.
  15. ah, cool. I wasn't sure what car it was, I was looking for a Buick. I like the taxi build so will have a look for this one!
  16. In the movie "40 Days and 40 Nights" there's a Taxi being built. No idea if it's an actual kit or something made up but looks cool.
  17. Well done, it looks great. Good job on the decals. I'd be crying trying to fit all those, Lol.
  18. ohh, that would be cool. There's a lot of British engineering involved in the Pony and owes a lot of it's technical makeup to the Morris Marina. George Turnbull, then managing director, left British Leyland in 1975 and became vice president of Hyundai Motor Devision to oversee the production of the Pony as he did the Morris Marina previously.
  19. Not having time to build anything this week due to other work, I thought I'd post some of my older builds I did before I joined the forum. This is the 1961 Impala by Lindberg. I built it about six months back and from what I remember it went together very well indeed. A very nice kit and another I'd like to do again. One issue I found with this kit is that there is no trim above the grill where the turn signals would go, it's not even listed on the instructions, also, the instructions suggest placing the rear back up tail lights in the wrong place. Apart from those minor issues I really enjoyed building this one.
  20. Very nice. I love these Volgas, very similar to the 60's Vauxhalls we had in the UK.
  21. Sometimes when it's really cold here I get heavy orange peel in the paint. Just rub it back with some 2000 grit wet and dry followed by a good auto polish.
