  1. The white is testors classic white right out of the can. The red is Italian red decanted and SHOT (did I type something else? Why the edit?) through an airbrush. Clear is Duplicolor 1K clear, again, right out of the can. I polish with 5000 grit paper and use a mild rubbing compound then wax. Nothing fancy. I don’t yet know if there will be any yellowing issues, this is the first white car I’ve used that clear on. My models are in individual cases away from direct sun, so I usually have no problem with that.
  2. Like I said before, I’m taking this opportunity to make some upgrades to things I wasn’t happy with the first time around. No idea why I made no effort to make engine compartment tin the first time around, but I’m doing it now. I cut up an old Camaro body to rob the side panels, and I’m fabricating the rest. It’ll look much more finished and complete. I also realized that I need to extend the hood, so I’m doing that too. stance is finalized, and seems perfect now In the end this will be a much better build because the paint fell off...
  3. The headers are just primed, they will end up better than this, but as you can see, the kit has an automatic and is just all around a poor representation of the car.. futurattraction has a beautiful Small Block -lenco kit that I have coming. I’m going to have to pretty much start over on this one, had a paint glitch that is beyond repair, so....yay.
  4. The entire engine is terrible, honestly. Including the headers...
  5. Fantastic looking build! Love it....
  6. So, I perpetually have a million things in process, and a few months ago I saw that I had all the parts and pieces to build this car, so I thought I’d throw it together. I am pathologically unable to leave well enough alone, so I had to build a slightly different version than what’s on the box. This is pre-P/M when this was a Top Sportsman car. Different graphics, different number, etc. paint came out great, but it’s still a tiny bit too soft for final assembly so it’ll sit like this for a couple weeks. So close! Oh well, I have plenty to do...
  7. I think it’s done!
  8. Thank you, sir!
  9. Polished and ready for final assembly...
  10. Really hard to see in pics on a white car, but the paint and polish came out great, I’m really happy with it! Foil, windows, and “final” assembly are next. It’ll sit on the shelf until I get the engine done, then I’ll dive back in. I guess it’s a curbside fir now...
  11. Thank you!! I needed a good reference photo. I bought a resin engine and I’ll be starting on that as soon as it gets here.
  12. Yeah...I’m not sure, the kit engine is so terrible, but I might just make the best of it, I’ll just need to find some Small Block Moroso valve covers.
  13. Clear went on without an issue, now I just need to let it cure, then polish and assembly. Such a fantastic looking car, I’m glad Slixx came out with decals...
  14. Ready for clear...that’ll happen this afternoon, it’s going to be warm and perfect. I’m fortunate that I’m not suffering through the freakish cold and weather some of you undoubtedly are... the interior is pretty basic. I still need to make a shifter handle, but it’s basically done. I can not believe I missed the mold marks in the very back, but it’s probably too late now. I’m going to try and fab something to cover in foil and put back there, but I may just live with it.
  15. Yes, I stripped the chrome and used metalizer aluminum, which I polished with q-tips
  16. Oh! And it’s a small block car but the kit came with Big block valve covers!
  17. I was SO excited to see this reissued...but wow what a terrible kit it is! Body is nice, and the updated tires are pretty cool...but that’s it. Suspension is nonexistent, the engine compartment is rudimentary at best. That being said, I’m SO excited to have a Grumpy car on my shelf! I did not use the kit decals for the red panels, I painted them instead. I also have decals to do his 83-ish Camaro, maybe I’ll do that next!
  18. I swore I wouldn’t do anything super detailed again after I did the MegaFord, but I HAVE to put some extra effort into this one... I’m doing it in bits and pieces, I usually get in a rush, so I’m trying to avoid that! valve covers with Alclad chrome (my first time using it, I think I didn’t do enough prep) and detail master wing bolts. I took the out-of-the-box intake and hollowed it out to look more realistic. painted and decaled the oil pan painted the block Next thing I think I’ll do is mock up the cage so I can build an engine plate
  19. Definitely following this...I need to watch a chassis being built, I’ve never done that and I need to learn!
  20. Thank you!
  21. Yeah, I was hoping to go through this without anyone noticing that! I’m embarrassed that I did that, it’s on the list of things I’m glad I get to fix...great pic, by the way, wish I’d had that when I was first starting the project, didn’t know it had Willie’s trademark gold tin...
  22. Yeah, I’m not thrilled, but I used the opportunity to fix a couple things I was less than happy with, and I’m trying to make the best of it!
  23. Slixx decals are the best...I’m SO happy with this build and the decals are perfect. clear and final assembly are next
  24. Aaaaand...I’m back to this point. Stripped, sanded, repainted. Black accents and decals and I’ll try it all again!
