Mark Osborne Pro Stock Cutlass from the mid-90’s. Slixx Decals and I believe a WJ kit. I pretty much assembled it from the parts box. I’ve built and blown up a few cutlasses over the years...never really been happy with one. The stance and the rear wheel/tire combo bother me. I may pop the front wheels off and make drop spindles, but it’s going on the shelf for now.

OK wow, that’s amazing! Wet nice finish, great flames, great subject, all of that...

Thank you!

Well, I got impatient and polished it before I was 100% sure it was cured enough...and luckily it was good to go! Windows, parachute, and a few minor details and this one will be done!

Looks great! Good call on the wheel finish.

Thank you, sir!

Hello all.. I was looking for a somewhat simple project, since so many builds I attempt are more ambitious than I have patience for! Anyhow, I had enough spare parts and pieces to put this one together. Mark Osborne Mama Rosa’s Pizza Pro Stock Cutlass. I have had the decals forever, (long enough that I was worried that they might fall apart) and I had a few of the sub assemblies finished in various parts boxes, so I threw it together. It’s just been cleared, it’ll be ready for polish in about a week, and from there it’s just final assembly.

That is a fantastic looking build of a beautiful car! Nicely done...

Yep. It’s “provisionally” done. Hood glued shut and on the shelf for now. I have a beautiful SBC Pro Stock engine from Futurattraction but this chassis doesn’t deserve it! I’ll get back on this one some day when I stop being irritated with it...

That’s a mean lookin engine you got there! Looks great -
Yeah, I’ve seen that one!

Sweet! What chassis did you use? I’m figuring out that the Firebird would work better than what I started with! also, I have a resin Probe body, is that yours?? it’ll be next, I’ll do the red/white car I bought decals from J&J, they were ok

I’m literally frustrated with everything I’m working on so I dug this one out of mothballs. It was finished once, but I wasn’t at all happy with it, so I blew it apart and I’m redoing it. It’s been sitting in pieces for ten years. serious Frankenstein job on the chassis (this thing won’t win any contests based on that, I assure you) However, I got the stance right, which was my main complaint with it last time around. Firebird cage, back half of a pro mod chassis, modified Thunderbird front end. This will have to do! I’m sanding it down, finishing the body mods I missed last time, and I should be able to have the basecoat on soon...

Great pics! Very helpful....

Yeah, this one is in “time out” for a few days at least! Had a paint disaster while doing the foil, so I need to walk away...

Scott, just do you know, zero of what I was saying was directed at you! You’ve been nothing but helpful...

double posted somehow, sorry!

I agree, the level of knowledge on the cars we love is amazing. I do, however, find that to be a double edged sword at times. It makes for some amazing builds, full of details only a purist would recognize, and it also invites criticism disguised as “helping” from people who know more about a particular subject than you do. I quit posting about a build because I got some uninvited corrections that made me just not want to talk about it. this thread has been informative and helpful, without a doubt, but some I see have not been quite so encouraging.

Are you talking about the one with the polished wheels and the Christian fish on the front fender? Yeah, I don’t think that car looks right either...

Thanks! I used waxed string I found at the craft store. I like it because you can shape it and it stays there. Most stuff I’ve used in the past never hangs right. I wiped some charcoal on it to make it look dirty and used black medical tape at the attachment point.

Just finished this one this morning...Rob Vandergriff’s Top Sportsman 57 Chevy. I used an earlier paint scheme than the one on the box, and used his T/S designation instead of Pro Mod. Basic build with a few added details on the rear of the car. Chute cables, shutoff switch, etc. I’m pretty happy with it overall!

At the urging of Scott from futurattraction I tracked this magazine down on eBay, it’s going to be a HUGE help with this build.it’s got a great feature on the new Fairmonts of Glidden and Nicholson. I had been able to find zero pics of the interior and only terrible pics of the engine, but now I have much more to go on!

So, I love the back end of drag cars. Wheelie bars, chutes, all the switches and whatnot. I’ve always spent a lot of time making the back end look good. this kit has really good detail already, but I added a few things. Parachute cords are waxed string I picked up at a craft store. I used medical tape for the covers at the attachment point, which is just piano wire bent up and mounted to the back of the body. Chute release cables are just wire with the end stripped off. I attach the cable to the parachute by bending a tiny piece of wire and pushing it through a hole I drilled. It’s not cord, like the real thing would be, but it looks good. A pushpin is the battery shutoff and I found an “off” decal in my pile of old decal sheets. I need to touch up the chrome in a couple places, and paint the end of the pin black, but that’s about it. Pretty happy with this one!

Branching out a bit from my normal Pro Stock/Pro Mod builds. Stock Eliminator Galaxie driven by Bob Glidden. Slixx had decals, I made a trade for this kit, and here we are. Body is awesome, interior is very nice, basically I love everything about the kit other than the front suspension was a nightmare. More foiling than I’ve ever done before, and overall I’ll pretty happy with it. I wish I would have made side windows, but oh well...
