  1. Hey DJ, great to hear from you again. Been quite a while. Yup still around and still building the occasional model. Write back if you pick this up.
  2. Ah! Man! thanks for that link buddy. Lot's of great ref pics there. Top man.👍
  3. I have two of the AM kits. The first one I b*****d up the engine tring to get the engine stabilisers/braces throught the headers, something that even AM say is nigh on impossible and can barely be seen even if one achieves it. But not one for being put off I gace it a go anyway bt after a solind eight hours of trying, I finally had to admit defeat. The second kit will be built without the braces. It's a beautiful kit but I feel it is somewhat over engineered. BTW..... the MPC kit was a recent wedding gift to me by dublin boy. Thanks me owld liddle leprachaun. Thanks for the info. Do you have a link to that site please? 😅 🤣 Thanks for the HU guy. The originals look in good order but's handy to know where I can get replacements. Pattos Place in OZ also does them. https://www.pattosplace.com/home.html Dealt with both of them in the past and both are good IMO .
  4. Having been away for several months due to moving house, I now have my new man cave and bench set up and running. 😀 My return build is going to be this one: Considering it dates back to 1971, there is remarkably little flash............. ........... however there is way too much chrome which will have to be stripped
  5. Thanks Bruce. I'm sure your's will turn out just fine. It's a great kit.
  6. Thanks Trevor. I'm moving house at the end of June so I'm afraid this one is going back in the box, just way too much to do to carry on building. Catch you guys on the flipside in September. Take care all and stay safe.
  7. Thanks guys. When I finished it, I promised myself I'd build another but this time with a lot more added detail................. it's still waiting to be done!!!!! 😄
  8. Sorry I'm late to the party John. It may have taken a long time, it may have a lot of hoses and it may have had it's problems but my word you have made a cracking job of it and you should give yourself a pat on the back. If mine turns out as good, I'll be a happy chappie indeed. Well done!👍👍👍
  9. Thanks all. Your kind comments keep this old geezer going. 👍
  10. Hi Bill, Ah! I hadn't noticed that the box art I posted is the recent Tamiya/Ebbro colaboration. Mine is the original Tamia kit: Glad to have you on board.
  11. Thanks Jim. I had real fun doing this one.
  12. Welcome to the forum Mark. mI'm new here myself. Show us some of your work.
  13. This 'Thing' was borne out of a completley failed Tamiya Porsche 962c kit. Nothing went right on the build and it seemed like everytime I touched it, something else went wrong. So I tossed it back in the box and chalked it up to experience. Then, an idea formed in my warped brain cell. It's a wacky sort of Mad Max meets Dick Dastardly, in the wake of a nuclear apocalypse, 'defend' your self against the mutants' vehicle. Nothing was measured, everything was 'imagineered' and left a little 'rough around the edges' to get the effect I wanted. This is the kit:
  14. This is the sequel to my Panzer II. 'Luchs'. (Retreat from Leningrad') diorama Another absolute blast doing this one and more fresh learning. This time the tank is Tamiya's Panzer Kampfwagen II Ausf. F/G, the base and wall are from Field of Glory Models, the crew are Mini Art's German Tank Repair Crew and the equipment is Italeri's Field Tool Shop. I completley botched up the connections at the tops of the gas bottles and had to make my own. I also made and added the hoses and substituted the welding torch for a better one from a Fujimi Garage Tools kit There were no chains for the block and tackle so I added those too. The compressor also got an air hose. May 27th 1942 and our tank and crew have been sent back to the field shop, away from the fearsome snow and behind friendly lines for repairs and a few days R & R. Meanwhile the repair crew have set to work doing basic essential repairs. However, badly rusted as the tank is, resources and time do not allow for a fresh coat of paint. 'Make do and mend' is their watch phrase now.
  15. Nice work John, shame about the warped top panel. Thanks for your advice on my tub too. In light of your problem with the top body panel maybe I won't attempt to break mine apart after all. Looking forward to your next update.
  16. Not being happy with the colour of the transaxle, I changed it to Gunmetal which I believe is much closer to the 1:1.
  17. Now that is a neat trick which I definitely will be using at some point in the future. Thanks fo sharing with us.👍
  18. Gerald, no it didn't come with the motorised bits but it still has the battery compartment. The kit instructions are dated 1998. Made a start on the engine. Tamiya's callout for the transaxle colour is black but in most of the photos I've seen of the !;1, It's more of a charcoal colour. So I did it with Alclad Burnt Iron..... still looks a bit black though. Will see what I can do to change that later. Tamiya also supplies red wire for the HT leads whereas most of the photos I've researched show yellow plug leads. I don't have any yellow wire of the correct diameter so have settled for what Tamiya supplied.
  19. Here ya go John. Any help you can give will be much appreciated. If I can get it apart, that would be perfect, if not I'm sure I can greatly improve it anyway.
  20. Fantastic work Marko you did a fine job on it. It may have been a crazy design but the principle was sound..... that of reducing frontal area (drag) while still maintaining the sam contact patch of rubber with the track. It's just a shame that Goodyear couldn't afford to develop the tyres. If they had it could have changed F1 as we know it!!!!
  21. Thanks for your comment guys. Ed............. I'd agree about Clark being the best of his era but I find it impossible and unfair to say who is the best ever, as there are so many variables. The best that one can say is, who holds the most records. The whole subject is so subjective and emotive.
  22. Thanks both. Misha.... you make a good point, hadn't thought about that. DOH!! Will remember for next time though.
